1. www.newmooninsurance.com for me. I hope your visa is sorted...have fun!
2. The less subdivisions the better. Use search.
3. Lonnie Donegan pulled a few out of the ark, too.
4.
No... I already had Berg cabs at the time. I wont say it wasn't a factor at all, but I didn't have to sell the Bergs, and if the top cabs, from my POV had have been one of the others on the test, I would have bought them. I hear something in the TKS cabs that I can really use...and it sets them apart, IMO.
Same for me... long-time Berg user, with nothing but huge respect for Jim Bergantino. The TKS just have the x-factor I struggle to find on other cabs.
5. What sort of volume do you need? If it's going to be limited to 'reasonable', you absolutely can't go wrong with the TKS S112. Comically light, ceramic driver, Bergantino build quality, and very reasonable prices. Also has lots of custom options.
6.
What the title says. What does one of these things entail? The only image my mind conjures up is a load of guys sat in a circle with their gear playing at each other which, to be honest, sounds a bit sh*te.
Probably best you don't go to one, then.
7.
You weren't confused at all Lloyd The S112 uses ceramic magnet 12s while the 1126/2126 have neodymium magnets. The ones with the grille cloth we set up first were the neo-equipped 1126's. The snakeskin 12's and the white 2x12 + 6 were the ceramic ones. The reason for the S series being lighter is that the neodymium magnet speakers used in 1126/2126 have a design that requires a larger magnetic force on the voice coil, Tommy uses neodymium in them to keep the weight down, but they still get heavier than the S version. It would be hard to make a ceramic speaker with the same capability, and even if it was possible it would make a ceramic version of the 2126 weigh maybe 40 kg or more.
Very enlightening. Cheers, Barrie!
8.
You need to tell us more
Prestigious gig in a nice room. Like the OP I'd been dodgy all day, but no way was I letting the band down. Felt terrible through the first set. Green palour, sweating furiously. Made it to the end of the last song, bolted of the stage for the loo, made it as far as the edge of the stage, and... BLEEEARGH
9. I threw up on the audience a few years ago. I'm not proud.
10. Yup. I've never posted a status update. Don't see the point.
11. I've got it - I spotted the lump on my palm a few years back. The doc confirmed I had it. Thankfully it hasn't advanced much since then. With a bit o'luck, it won't be a problem for a while yet. Good luck with it...
12. I wouldn't. I'd return the CS to what it was originally. A bespoke custom shop. At the moment, it's just glorified production-line stuff with fancy marketing and case candy.
13.
You're way offf the mark. If I was bothered I'd be more confrontational, my last comment was actually to I attempt to inject some fun into a topic that has been derailed from a 'you may want to check this out' type post and into a boring and repetitive anti Fender one. I'm not bothered about people disliking Fender. I've said it feels like Bassbitch at times. Does that bother you?
Nah, not at all. If you want repetitive, look at the bizarre tat they're constantly churning out while their fortunes wane. They're fiddling while Rome burns. And the tune they're playing is terrible. I'm a Fender fan, but they're killing the brand.
14.
Ok, so if it's hesding in that direction, how about a Fenderbitch section? I'll start it off with 'there hasn't been a real Fender since Jan 1965 so we've all been duped, discuss....'
Why post on an internet forum if people's opinions bother you?
15.
Bassbitch it is then. Confirmed.
Damned if I do, etc.
16.
Is this Basschat or Bassbitch?
Sorry, you're right. The Journeyman P is a winner, and I'm sure it'll be worth every penny of its £2500-ish.
17. Fender are just coming out with daft stuff these days. I'm sick of waiting for a decent PJ with blocks, so I've ordered a custom build from Maruszczyk for MIM money.
18. The balance needs to be tipped in the artists' favour, but the Tidal launch was an abject lesson in how to musjudge your audience. Laughable
19. Yup - loads. I use a ceramic 212 from www.tks.se. It's as light as any Neo 2x12 and far cheaper. Sounds incredible.
20.
Just he idea of owning a 40-year old instrument as my sole bass worries me a bit, as I wouldn't drive a 40-year old car as my only transport!
Basses aren't cars. Don't worry about it.
21. There's plenty to go around...
22. If a bass was good in 1970-whatever, there's no reason why it shouldn't be good now.
