1. I've never had to (I'm just a baby really) but the other guitarist in my dad's band keeps them all in hardcases and they're all black, white scratchplates and maple necks. Wife has no idea how many there are.
2. Pfft, between changing the arrangement, parts, structure and even adding overdrive or one of those 'fake rhythm guitar' pedals I wouldn't worry mate.
3. There have been a few people asking for picture s and so here they are. All items are totally as if they'd never been used with the exception of velcro on the back of the GLX. 4. Hello folks, I have the following for sale, all prices include delivery to anywhere in mainland UK or we can work out a collection deal. I haven't properly settled on selling the Zoom unit, so I'm liable to change my mind on that one. The pedals aren't worth that much in trade value but I'm after an OC-2, a nice overdrive and maybe a synth as well as a Line 6 wireless so if you have anything to trade (plus cash from me if needed) then let me know. Zoom B9.1UT - £80 - SOLD We all know the versatility and power of these units, great effects, nice amp models, as many ins and outs as you could possibly want. I'm interested in selling this because with my analogue pedal board it's not getting a great deal of use. As I've said I'm not 100% sure I'm selling it as i simply think it's worth more to me than it's cash value but if it gets interest and I manage to sell the others then it will go. No box, but will brilliantly packed and contains the power supply. Barely had any use and only left the house once, I will return all the patches to the factory standard too. EHX Nano Muff Overdrive - £18 SOLD Good little simple overdrive. Gentle to mid-rangey in it's grind, not a snarling fuzz like it's big brother. Great condition, no velcro. Solid metal chassis and legendary EHX name. No box or psu. GLX OC-100 - £25 Fantastic little OC-3 clone. It's a bit simpler in that there's no poly mode and just the one set of jacks. Solid metal chassis, standard 9v psu. Has original box, original manual, all the rest. Used but you couldn't tell, there's not a mark on it. EDIT: I'll post pictures tomorrow after work, hopefully there'll still be some daylight! Thanks, Jack
5. It probably just makes the minutest of difference but yeah I do think it might as well make the minutest of a good difference.
6. People saying they're pro is like gear that's advertised as pro. As in not.
7. Browsing and thought it might make a nice first stage rig for someone. The combo and matching 4x10" are both for sale. No relation to seller. Newcastleish. 8. Rules state you need to specify a price mate.
9.
I thought '00' was the price...
I'll take two.
10.
Thats an odd website, the banner stays in the middle of my screen so youve got to keep scrolling up and down to see the pics around it!
Thought it was just me.
11.
Personally I'd be tempted to remove the 10" enclosure, scrap the crossover and run both speakers full-range
This is something that had occurred to me as well. One the one hand this cabinet is a teeny bit of Ashdown history and it was designed that way for a reason I'm sure. On the other, since when did a ten need a hpf? Would I need to completely scrap the enclosure or could I just take the back off? How much of it would I need to remove to make it acoustically not there? If I could just remove a panel or two that means it could be put back at some point in the future.
12. Those inputs are wired in parallel. Whatever you put in to one will come out of other. Although my anal tendencies make sure I always use the left one as in and the right one as out................
13. Pulled it all apart, hooked the amp up to the 10" directly. Unfortunartely the speaker is broken, it's just putting out a very quiet distorted sound, nowhere near the volume of the 15". Therefore I pretty much need a replacement 8ohm 10" driver. It's high-passed for certain, folklore says at 100Hz but I have no idea how to tell. The driver is also in a sealed box within the cabinet. Hard to estimate volume as it's a weird shape but if it were a 30cm circle (pretty much is, it's an irregular heptagon best I can tell) and 10cm deep it would have a volume of 7068cm^3, which is about 7l. What would be a good speaker for this? Would it be possible to use a guitar speaker? It's high-passed and in a small sealed box after all. The whole cabinet was only £80, so I'm not about to drop £150 on a Deltalite unfortunately. Besides, I already have a couple of Barefaceds. EDIT: Sorry icastle I didn't see your reply there. The crossover was thoroughly checked for cold solders and the like and there was no scorching or anything. The 15" is wired directly to the input jack, whereas the 10" and HF are both fed from the xover. This seems like a pretty unusual arrangement but there you go. Does it sound right? There is nowhere on the xover for the 15" to be connected to, but there has definitely been some work done to the cabinet. It's dated '97 and the 10" is dated '99 and the xover board has 2 sets of screw holes so it's been out and back in before as well.
14. After a sizzling sound at practice a few nights ago I finally got around to opening this up today. The ten is completely inflexible, doesn't move in when pressed like the 15". It's also been fed off a crossover along with the horn, whilst the 15" is wired straight in to the input. I'm assuming this means then that the crossover COULD be fried, but needn't be as the ten is pretty obviously seized?
15. Hey folks, Just bought some Roqsolid covers for my Barefaced Compact and Midget stack. When stacked, obviously the Midget's feet are pressing into the Compact's cover, leaving little indents in the cover the way a sofa's feet do in the carpet. Is this bad for the cover in any way? I'd hate to think I was destroying the foam or anything. Thanks, Jack
16. Get a roqsolid cover with contrasting stitching, and then a cloth to match that.
17. There was one signed on the front of the body at Sound Control in Newcastle that hung on the wall for ages, after the shop closed down Guitar Guitar got it and last time I was in (ages ago granted, I hate that place) it was still there. So the answer is, seems to be a difficult sell mate
18. An easy way to check if all the speakers are wired and working is to plug a speaker cable in and stick a 9V battery on the other end. All of the speakers should move out the same way. Otherwise just play through it then get someone else to and listen whilst they do to every speaker to check for damage. Seems a lot though, I'm sure Ampegs carry their value well but you see 8x10" going for a hug these days with all this lightweight gear nonsense that's fashionable with the lefty hippies and commies.
19. I built mine inside a mixer case. Just shop on eBay for a flight case that opens the right way that's going cheap and stick the pedals on there.
20. Pitchblack! Although if I had to buy one today I'd be tempted by that copy of the Pitchblack.......
21. I'm really really impressed with the Mooer Pure Boost, can be had for very little money, volume, gain, bass, treble controls, tiny, true bypass. The list goes on mate.
22. I don't think it matter does it? our amp would suit you just fine if you ever started gigging again, a pair of Genelecs wouldn't. Also, the sound of your bass unprocessed into studio monitors will sound very, very different to the relatively colored Aguilar. To the OP, whilst it's almost definitely possible to have an amp that's unnecessarily big, it's completely impossible to have an amp that's too loud. They all have volume controls and they all go counter clockwise. The overwhelming sound was the bassist's fault, not the amp's. I'd love a small city car for when I don't need my truck in the same way most people would love a myriad of rigs for every situation but the reality is that money forces most of us to simply have one rig that's big enough for our biggest gigs and therefore far too big for the smaller stuff. The trick is simply to turn it down! You're right what you've said though IME. For one, a lot of us could certainly do with listening to the band rather than the individual instruments. I always cringe slightly when I see threads like 'how can I compete with my guitarist?'. This isn't a sport, it's not a competition, it's a team exercise. Most of us could probably manage with a 100W Peavey combo. But to use my previous car analogy most Ferrari owners could probably manage with a £300 Vauxhall. Where's the fun in that?!
23. Correct. Actually with the Marshall being solid state it shouldn't need a load to work just fine. (disclaimer, SHOULDN'T). Seems like a lot of amp to cart around though, are you using both heads anyway? I suppose you are because you say they're both connected to cabs. Does the sound city have an insert? Try a noise gate in there.
24. Nascent 'real' board, not getting that much use because of the Zoom B9.1UT. Still needs a few more pedals, and that Muff is now for sale. The PSU is under the right side tier, that's the power cable coming out at the top beside the tuner, it ends in an IEC to plug an amp power cord in to. There's currently nothing under the left, I'm thinking fdeck hpf though. OC2 already on it's way, still wanting a really nice subtle od too.
25. Yeah it's combination of thick paint, neck lacquer, different woods, bolt on etc etc. Little changes but when they're all as far apart from your singlecut 5 as can be then they do add up.
