  1. Do you have a closeup of the headstock? What's the label on the rear? How about the bridge? Looks unusual, to say the least.

    Weight

    7.3 lbs!
  3. If I had to have a 5-string, this would be it!
  4. Someone told me I'd never be able to get a nice thumping tone out of this. Can't wait to bring it over to his place and tell him how wrong he was...time to put his Fender Rumble 40 in the closet! This is now my practice amp for learning/going over our material. Perfect for acoustic gigs, too.
  5. Older Dean Exotica with the Aphex System...Aural Exciter and Big-Bottom Sound. Not another acoustic bass made with the same preamp. This one was only $250 with an ABS case. They still pop up on Reverb for under $300.
  6. When I bought my Reverend Thundergun, one of the sales clerks swore the fretboard was rosewood. I said "I thought Reverend switched to Blackwood Tek for the Thundergun" but he insisted it was rosewood. I didn't want to show him the information on the Reverend site, but I had to wonder why he didn't see the proof right under his nose...or at least feel the proof, because though it might resemble rosewood, it feels like maple. The simple truth is, some salespeople simply aren't experts.
  7. Coming in at number 2. Made in 2006 for an unknown buyer, the Flora Aurum takes the term “premium materials” to an entirely new level. The body, shaped by hand, of course, is made of quilted maple and has a beautiful ripple pattern. The fingerboard inlay has a floral pattern made of 24-karat gold. Each leaf on the pattern boasts a black diamond set in platinum. Elements like the bridge, tuner buttons, and knobs have been set by hand in massive gold, and the knobs are topped off with brilliant-cut diamonds. There are also green diamonds used for knob position marks.
  8. https://guitar.com/news/gear-news/bill-wyman-fender-mustang-bass/ Price: $384,000 The 1969 Fender Mustang, played by Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman recently broke records for the highest price tag on a bass when sold at auction in early September 2020. (Of course, this was nearly a year ago.)
  9. I have no need to try one becatuse some acoustic basses can do the upright sound...and more, much more. Eight years and I still haven't found an acoustic bass as versatile as mine. More versatile than quite a few solid-body basses, in fact. (By the way, I have three of them. Why? Because they're that damned good!)
  10. Reverend makes some great basses. My Thundergun is right up there with my USA-made L2000s. I only wish it had Luminlay side markers!
  11. Harley Benton.
  12. Almost too nice to play!
  13. You haven't considered parting it out?
  14. I hope everyone putting down the headstock realizes that months of careful planning went into that design and nearly two dozen equally questionable headstocks were rejected.
  15. Haven't been to the studio in so long. Just dug this up and couldn't quite hear the bass. Then I remembered...headphones, duh!
  16. Well, the color's nice, other than that...pass! I guess another jazz bass in a world inundated with jazz basses can't hurt, though.
  17. Nut Width 1 1/2", 1 5/8" and 1 3/4 Neck radius 7 1/2", 9 1/2" and 12"

    Resolved

How is something like that even possible? Sounds like a nightmare!
  19. Saw the same thing several times here. Wasn't sure if people were joking or actually didn't know. Hard to tell if people were L2000 users or if they'd merely tried them out once at this or that store. Some might be unaware they can go fully passive.
  20. Old-school tones aren't possible with the L2000? Of course they are, you just have to switch to passive mode. Oh, yeah...GHS black tapewounds!
  21. Perfect choice...immeasurably nicer than the old ones.
  22. It's possible it will ruin it cosmetically.
  23. Top-notch quality, very smooth neck, great tone...the Turbo Switch is a nice feature, too.

  24. He's talking about a specific cosmetic mod that might very well ruin the bass.
