  1. I would've been happy with that one. Hard to pick a favorite among these..
  2. I'm talking about the older models with the Aphex System electronics...Aural Exciter and Big-Bottom Sound. There's a good reason I have three...they're that damned good! If there's a more versatile acoustic bass, I have yet to find it. By the way, I believe in the MTV Unplugged school of thought...plug in!
  3. D'Addario black tapewounds on my three Dean Exotica acoustic basses. Tapewounds or flatwounds are the only way to go! Good luck...with playing it, that is. I seriously doubt you'll be able to mod it.
  4. I really like the white Tributes with the matching headstocks and the Trans orange ones with the maple fretboards. TheJapanese ones, are even nicer. First G&L I ever played was a L2000 Tribute. Liked it so much I found a new one for the ridiculous price of $500. Played it for three or four months before finding a nice USA-made one and never even noticed the neck was slightly wider.
  5. Thanks, I didn't know that.
  6. Sounds like me! Still, nearly every time I post a pic without naming the bass, people say "Wow, what's that?"
  7. Reverend Thundergun. Passive, pure and potent!
  8. Hey, there!
  9. One of many...and I am a Cat Steven's fan.
  10. Thanks!
  11. Yes, more than one way to learn and I wouldn't own my two L2000s if not for people posting how good they are these past years.
  12. I've heard the name before. Just not sure where. Sure beats calling a yellow finish natural when it's not. (I think Reverend does with the older Thunderguns.)
  13. Thank you.
  14. I wish I knew. Never saw another Imola with this finish and the seller didn't mention the color. The big pickguard is part of the charm, I think.
  15. Okay, it's not a typical jazz bass, not a Fender or a Squier or one of the countless clones, but it does have jazz pickups...and it doesn’t have the dreaded 60-cycle hum. Italia is not a brand you hear being lauded by bassists, but the people at Italia put together a very nice bass...Wilkinson pickups, bridge and tuners. I have no experience with Wilkinson, but everything seems spot on. I've always liked the look of the Imola, so I took a bit of a gamble and bought it online without being able to try it out...payed off! New price is $899, but I got it for $400 and it looks like it's never been played. GHS black tapewounds make this a real winner!
  16. Someone from Talkbass suggested I join this board to see how things worked on your side of the Atlantic. I'm hoping to get back in gear soon. Starting to rehearse for open mic nights. (I have ten basses...they need to get out and have some fun!)
