1. I had a bound Strymon Mobius manual printed and it was slightly creased with a coffee stain so I complained. They sent me a new one. The old one is available for the cost of postage. A4 sized B&W. Peter
2.
Sounds good to me Peter. I left the whole giggling scene behind years ago and now I play along with things in my own little world - no setting up, no annoying landlords, no disappointing venues or carrying drum hardware across a car park in the rain. Just 100% escapism.
And that sounds good to me Ped. The reason I play the set list over and over is to get it ingrained and note perfect. Pointless really
3. I know from personal experience that Les makes superb custom instruments. I bought my fretted 4 from Bass Culture many years back and it was a special bass bought from a top fella.
4. My 3rd band has finally folded, or at least it's in its death throws. I'm wondering if that may be it? Do I sell my 2x12 and my gigging amps? I'm nearing 63 and still fit but there aren't so many opportunities in and around Kendal. I reconciled the practice set on my Tascam and created a practice folder entirely of the stuff I enjoy playing. Some of it I've lost touch with and some are songs I've had on my radar for a while. I sat down this evening with my GMR that I've just adjusted the trim pots on and my Strymon Möbius set to flanger and I really enjoyed myself. Playing half forgotten stuff and it all came together. It was a hoot and I haven't had so much fun playing for years. I didn't realise how much that hammering the same old classic rock set list was causing me to lose interest.
5. Legend indeed. He had a good run and left his mark.
6.
On the light side for this model, but too heavy for me... Good luck with the trade!
Thanks Jogi. It's no lightweight but as you say that doesn't come with the territory. Well balanced and she carries it well.
7.
Could you tell me the weight, please? Cheers, Jogi
Using the bathroom scales between 10 and 11 Lbs, Peter
8. Bump for anyone who may have a suitable trade. I'll get some photos of this stunning Stingray 5 done on Monday when I have a chance and hopefully when some sun comes along. Sun in the Lake District?? Here's a stock photo to show the normal SR5 haters how nice this bass looks:
9. Many thanks Lee. Great guys at Promenade too, if only all music shops were as good
10. I have an absolutely lovely SR5 HH and it is awesome. I also have a Radiance Red Bongo 5 HH and a ACG Finn Uber spec plus two active Jazz single coil 5ers (ACG and GMR) so I'm putting the SR5 up for trade because I'm looking for a passive 5 P bass of some sort. I want high end quality passive P bass tone with 5 strings basically. I have changed the title from 'for trade' to add 'for sale' as I have a bass on the horizon that would suit but I'm open to trade offers still. The SR5 is near mint with a special case and candy. It has the mahogany tone block and the modified EQ. Here is the actual bass and I can take more photo's of course. It's not me playing btw, I'm leaner, older and much greyer. Paying tribute to the earliest Sting Ray 5 models, the instrument's pickups come equipped with the ever-popular Alnico magnets. Further improvements include an inlayed mahogany Tone Block centered underneath the sweet spot of the pickups and a five-bolt neck attachment providing smoother access to higher frets. This anniversary edition bass guitar features an Ash body with a flame maple top in an exclusive custom California Sunset finish. 11. That's a lot of bass for little money.
12. Marek bought my Strymon Ola and was a gent.
13. Glad you're liking your Talman Matt. I lust after a 605, if they get around to selling them in the U.K. I'm only playing 5ers nowadays but I feel the need for one of these??
14. I've got one to use for home practice. It's great. Very useable although I've not used the DI. Even the cab sim and the FX are okay.
15. I've 2 Markbass LM amps. A Tube 500 and a LMII. I don't use them for home practice as I've a TC Electronics BG250 1x15 combo for that. I have set up my MB amps at home at low volume and the fan noise is a bit annoying. Personally I don't see it as a problem because I'm expecting them to operate out of their natural environment imo. There're also the benefit that the TC amp has a aux in and a headphone out. Horses for courses in my opinion. Of course you may have a particular amp problem but if you've tried several fans it doesn't sound like it. Peter
16. Modulus Flea eh Marcus, the circle goes around
17. I'm not usually a Fender fan but that looks lovely. Hope it works out for you.
18.
Pm on it's way
And replied Peter
19. Thanks for moving the post. I didn't think it was weird or wonderful
20. Just spotted on eBay. 272554717898 A 34" scale TRB5 in lovely condition, good price and 'make an offer'. Collection only 😒 Or I'd be seriously tempted. He's also selling a Ken Smith and an Xotic. Anyone on here? Peter
21. That is very nice.
22.
Always found the bass lines jumped out at me. Loved Cockney Rebel, but this one has always sounded great to me. Man, where can I get some flares like his!
If I had to vote for my influence when I started playing aged 40, that'd be it.I must relearn it, great bassline.
