It doesn't sound the same as a standard Bob Glaub but then again if it did the mods would have been a total waste of time wouldn't they? Predominantly this is a Skyline Bob Glaub bass with Villex pickups and the mid control that is part and parcel of them. Villex pups are superb and give a tantalising tonal range, there's lots of rave reviews around so it isn't just my opinion. Added to that package is a rotary tone booster that has 4 positions one of which is off when it's totally bypassed so if you don't like it it doesn't have to colour the tone. So that's it. Not so scary is it? Before you knock it or if you want to see what it sounds like then try it (with Adees agreement of course). If you want a standard Bob Glaub then just buy one. Edited to add: It also had a great low action (if you like it low), a nice neck and looks sexy as fook in Black/Black/Maple imo Peter

    I used fine wire wool followed by gun oil on the back of my Ster neck and it worked a treat. Lemon oil for the board was fine too.

    Makes you think doesn't it. If this bass had've been closer I may have traded my Deluxe Jazz plus some cash for it and I wouldn't let my jazz go for less than £800. Peter

    Interesting thread, some good points made about buying and selling. Lots of evidence of human traits re slight exaggerations and assumptions. But we are all human (well I am) and to be human is to err. It don't make you the Devil incarnate! No way should we lock threads just because they become contentious imo. It prevents all this relatively minor stuff, usually centered around misunderstanding, from being sorted. Handbags at dawn? Why not Peter

    Business card thickness is good but I got a bigger bit of card and used my thumb to crease the shape of the pocket onto the card before cutting it out so that it neatly fills the whole pocket. I cut the holes with nail scissors after marking them out in the same way. It's a bit more secure than a business card though maybe not quite as cool Peter

    I had a similar problem with the 201 on my Warmoth P and the Badass II on my Allparts J. The neck pocket on both has a shim of thick card over the whole area just to raise the neck a touch paralell to the body, not to angle it. It's worked beautifully well on both and isn't noticeable if done neatly. Peter

    Tis most strange indeed. The BG is as we all know a great bass. The Villex pups are excellent and the Tone booster does an excellent job of, well, boosting the tone. I've heard this bass in a live situation as a member of the audience and it sounded superb. If it wasn't for my Warmoth ACG I'd still be the proud owner. Hey ho! Peter

    I know on this and many other forums folk are always going/ranting on about 'what winds me up, makes me angry, pisses me off' etc. Nobody can make you angry. You have a choice. If you just react without thinking you're disempowering yourself. And that really pisses me off.

    I can't find the link so don't know what you're looking at in terms of condition and cost. I've got one for sale in the for sale section, neck dive sorted too if you're interested, and it's shiny black. Never been rogered by an Entwistle as far as I'm aware. Peter

    I got my defunkt Jazz deluxe back today all working fine. I suspect they fitted a new pre. [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=15584&hl=jazz+deluxe"]http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=jazz+deluxe[/url] I noticed the hardcase is new and unlike the old one it opens and closes without the common Fender 'crunch' where these cases get bent along the hinge side. So they've noticed the case was imperfect and replaced it! I checked the accessories drawer and they've put 2 new Duracell batteries in and a set of strings. Bloody brilliant. It's now up for sale again. Peter
