1. I did a search for proper nut files a way back and they were mega expensive (from StewMac I think). Needle files or rifler files used with care should do the job. This type look the business for more serious work and aren't as expensive as the ones I looked at before: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Norman-bass-six-stri...%3A2|240%3A1318
2. I've got one of these things and they truly are stupendous. Great for VERY accurate tuning and intonation setting. It's only Norridge 'cider heads' what can't read them evidently
3. I use a thumb pick on my mando Tom, I'll give it a try.
4. I've got a Magistomp that I tend to use over my XT Pro. Underrated pedals imo.
5. There's some strange looking lighter patches on the front of the body too. Jaco would probably have played a Spector, then he really would have been the greatest bass player in the world - ever!
6. Hiya Mikey It's actually the derelict in the 1st pic at the end of the Lane, beside Dabchicks sailing club. I actually used to live down the Lane, in Pacaroon Cottage.
7. I'm a bit surprised this is still around. If I wasn't a poor student (sob) and hadn't just bought a new bass I'd of have it. Great price too. Bump
8. There's at least one here: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Diary/79/ and more here: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/174/ not to mention: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/171/ (Not Stuarts though - mine all mine )
9. I've just got in from band practice, a really good session and the Tribby was impressive to say the least.
10. Yep I'm glad it wasn't me. Just got in from band practice and Tribby through LMII Hartke and one GS112 was pretty impressive to say the very least
11. It's brand spankin' and quite a revelation being tonally varied and very versatile. No weak G strings or output here. I've fancied a try on one for a while and natural would have been my choice so positives all round really. I'd recommend having a go on one if you get a chance.
12. Here's a few photos of my recent impulse driven purchase fuelled by a price tag of £349. 3 piece ash body and weighs in at 9.4lbs. Doesn't seem that heavy Really pleased I jumped at it. 13.
a WAL is about the only decent bass i've never owned !!
I misread that as 'ever' and was sooo confused for a bit Mark. Didn't know you was a Wal man Chris, Fenders history then?
14. Cheers Paul - Immense! Seems my ears are wrong
15. Yo! The two resources I've found tell me that the active/passive switch is, front to rear; active treble boosted/active/passive. My ear tells me the opposite Am I wrong or are the Tribbies reversed? Are the tone controls cut or boost? That's it, will get some photos up later. Thanks in anticipation. Pedro
16. That's a great looking Wal, all the best with the sale. Is it only me that sees a Wal and my mind strays to the word Overwater? Probably due to the exposed core on top of the body.
17. Coming along nicely, although I really only pop in for the Essex refresh. I lie, this is my Essex (just to show the other side of the County).
18.
wow, you must have tried a hell of a lot of Fender basses LOL.
Or maybe just one Sadowsky
19. The Dale of the river Kent is indeed where Kendal (Kentdale) is. It confuses many and I sometimes think I should change it but then I think...... nah It's really his band too. I think it's his ego trip as in 'I'm the singer/lead guitarist in a rock band ladies' but I don't think he wants to gig. Ho humm..
20. I did a deal with Ed a few weeks ago. He came to my place and is a great guy to deal with, have no qualms. Peter
21. Cheers guys. The band hasn't folded yet but the writing on the wall is coming into focus. I don't want to lose the momentum and I do want to gig. I saw the bands old bassist gigging last Saturday. He'd been painted as a bass god and nice guy though he undoubtedly is his playing was underwhelming to an overwhelming degree. It was a confidence boost for sure. I'll register on the site and place some ads. This thing may resolve itself but I'd rather move on than be left bandless. Peter
22. Here's some retrieved photos. The picture with the gold knobs is with the ACG02 fitted.
23. It's slowly dawning on me that our lead guitarist can behave like a bit of a knob. The rest of the band are really great and I think, despite being his mates, of similar opinion to myself at times. I was in the pub the other night full of cold and feeling like sh*t, putting up with him shouting out 'there's loads of single totty in here Peter, get in there!' (He was right thought, there was) There's always a struggle with him to keep on with the necessary honing of a set list compared to introducing new songs that he (and only he) likes. Songs I introduce as possibles are not prepared for, ignored or at worse he goes through the motions of just not being able to sing them or remember the lines. There's new songs that he wants to introduce, like some obscure Peter Frampton song that's his particular favourite and he pesters endlessly about. Otherwise his taste in music is very narrow and all pre 1980. We need to be getting our present 15 songs a seamless performance with coordinated intros and endings. I think he gets bored easily and is just in love with the 'I'm in a band' idea. I don't think he's serious about gigging at all. In terms of gigging he's the most resistant to the possibility of embarrassing ourselves, a necessary evil I believe if we're going to go for it and perform. Now the crunch, he comes up with 'I'm a rock climber, if the weather's good I'm rock climbing and you three other guys will have to fit around me and my sport'. I travel nearly 30 miles each way to practice and this sort of arrangement isn't going to work for me. I'm going to start back at the local Jam Night in the hope that there's developments. I've emailed the guys and politely said this won't work. The whole 'band thing' has been a great experience for me and I feel like I've moved on both in terms of ability and confidence, more during the last 6 months or so than I have in the past 12 years. Anyone know of a band that need a bassist within a 30 mile radius of Kendal? Pedro
24. Just wondered what amp you were using. I have the same rig. It all seems a bit odd.
