1.
£10000, I'll throw in the missus.
Is that the low maintainance digital one or the one with the all the tubes?
2.
As much as that?
I lasted just over a minute.... But don't you think that they are pushing the boundaries
3. If you are based in Lincs, there was a lovely New Fender 09 American Standard Jazz bass in a music shop in lincoln (not Music Rooms - the one thats past the train station) last time I went in. Sounds and played lovely, but about £900 new. Worth going and having a play. Music rooms in lincoln had the fender precision equivalent which is equally tasty.
4. Love Vintage sunburst done well (MIA '09 fender) individual bridge thingies the sound of markbass amps tubes the freedom of wireless transmitters getting second hand stuff cheap lightweight amp heads red bass guitars! strap locks stickered basses (or guitars) Ashdown Amps Hate Vintage sunburst done badly LAKLAND bridges the look of markbass amps the tone killing nature of wireless recievers having to pay full price for anything heavy bass gear big fender tuners +1 rickenbackers +1 pointy basses
5. For me, I had already been playing bass for a while (uninspiring indie crap generally) when I got in a band with some friends - never gigged, but went round to a mates house to jam for a while! The songs that stuck in my mind were: 36 Degrees by Placebo The Meaning of Life by The Offspring Love Buzz by Nirvana That and every song off the first RATM album!
6. I play a yamaha RBX374 in red and it's a great bass. Good deal, well done!
7. Basses - Fender American Standard Jazz, Fender American Standard Precision, MM Stingray Amps - Ampeg SVT, Markbass head (tubey one), TC RH450 Cabs - A big 8x10 Ampeg beast, a couple of markbass 2x10 travellers, a couple of TC 210's and a 410. One of the new Tech21 programmable VT pedals, and a BDDI just for good measure. I know the last 2 amps/cabs are faily similar, but I'm not very imaginative.
8. I too am curious about these amps as there is one for sale on this forum. Anyone used one? How do they sound?
9. as there seem to be a few other car stereos going on here, I'll take the opportunity to add mine. Sony CD/Radio/iPod head unit £100 + postage I bought this head unit a few years ago and it is no longer needed due to buying a new car. It consists of a sony CD head unit. Silver, flip down fascia, removable in plastic sony case. There is also a module which connects to the multichanger socket on the head unit and allows you to connect an iPod. Once you are connected, you can control the ipod through the head unit, selecting by playlist, song or artist. The head unit supports CD text and displays the name of the song being played. The interface also charges / powers the iPod. All cables are included to connect up the head unit. (I also have a wiring loom and fascia adaptor from my smart car if anyone is interested in them ). The head unit also comes with a remove control. So you will get: Head unit / Front fascia / Plastic case for fascia Metal cage for fitting it + front plastic trim DIN cable (to control the iPod interface) 'connects2' iPod interface iPod cable phone cable (to connect the audio from the interface to the head unit) Remote control The whole kit cost me about £200 a few years back and it is in pretty much mint condition. I'm not sure of the model number, but will have a look when I get the chance (its in the loft!). I'll try and get some photos aswell. 20gb iPod 4th generation £50 + postage I also have a 20gb iPod click wheel (looks like an iPod classic, but doesnt have a colour screen) which you can have for £50, complete with firewire cable, firewire charger, usb cable & apple iPod dock. iPod is in good condition for a 5 year old iPod. The back is scratched, and the battery doesn't hold it's charge very well, but it's perfect for keeping in the car with the head unit or connected to your hifi with the dock (dock has audio out).
10. As a lefty (who plays right handed bass) do any other leftys find that things made for left handed people are the wrong way around. Especially left handed scissors, when I try to use them they make a mess of the paper. I'll stick with using right handed scissors in my left hand.
11. I'm left handed, but play a right handed bass. (Cos I couldn't be arsed to buy a left handed bass when I started to play). It took me a while to get used to fast picking with my right hand. Oh, and I play drums left handed and yes it is a PITA when I have to swap a right handed kit over
12.
Soundslive are brilliant IME and that's where I go first. I've always had great service from Electromusic in Doncaster
Soundlive are great. Bought my amp and cab from them. I bought an ex display Ashdown head, but there was a mix up so they sold me a brand new head at ex-display price. Spot on. Electromusic were great. Went to try out Markbass amps, let me play for ages and no pressure. Even when I didn't buy one, they guys in the shop were really cool about it - no pushy salesman. Pooles music in Grimsby are fairly good too, although limited in stock. Went to try out a squier classic vibe jazz, but it was expensive compared to soundslive etc. Music Rooms in lincoln - I think it depends on who serves you, some are pushier than others, but I get fed up of trying to hear a bass over the top of 14 year old kids cranking up the overdrive on a guitar amp to play metal! Aaarrrggghhhh!

14.
TWO STRING BASS? WHAT??
It's a sandberg. Looks like it was made specially for them - don't speak german, so I could be wrong!
15. I've played a few of the squier classic vibe jazz basses in shops and absolutely loved them. So much that I've just bought one second hand off the forum (getting it next week). Definitely good value for money. Having said that, if money was no object - I did prefer the feel of the fender american standard jazz bass that I played. Now that was gorgeous. But I simply cannot justify £850 for a bass at the mo'.
16.
4x10 dilemma... buy a pair of TC 2x10's and stack them end on end! No seriously, I would.
TC Now make a 4 x 10 cab... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~T...10~ID~11826.asp Maybe that would be to your liking.
17. Theres was a behringer xenyx mixer for sale in the other musically related stuff section on here. We use a very similar desk and it does the job nicely.
18.
We have a winner.
Nice one Wayne. Although I was secretly hoping for a punk cover when I saw the clip on there! A quick browse of YouTube has found nothing
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showpost.php...mp;postcount=23
Maybe this is a daft questions, but it looks the same as a programmable bass driver (layout). I thought that the bass driver was capable of getting a similar sound to the VT pedal, so is this a re-branded programmable bass driver, of does it sound totally different. I've never used any of the sansamp stuff, but was thinking of getting the regular bass driver DI. If all you get with this is the ability to programme 3 'dirty' sounds, then surely the programmable bass driver will give you more variety of tone for your 3 settings? Maybe I'm totally wrong? Anyone?
21.
to willfully take a chainsaw to a £500 speaker cabinet that a lot of players would sell their grannies for
...that probably only cost them a few quid to make! Funny video. I'm not sure I'd get £500 quid for my granny, might need to sell some other people too to make up the difference
22. Just thought I'd post an update to this... I emailed Hercules end of November to ask if they made a case. A nice bloke there said he would post me a replacement cardboard box as mine was damaged. Great, problem solved I thought. A few weeks later, a parcel arrived containing a Hercules stand bag, padded with shoulder strap etc and a note which simply said 'with compliments'! Service like that seems to be a rare thing these days so I thought it was worth a mention.
