Mine is external so just a straight swap - but still expensive! I had that happen on a PC at work - flash came out of the back of the case - not good.

15 years of playing bass and here is my list dean p/j passive bass, red, never knew the model name. This one lasted for 13 years and I gave it away when I got the rbx yamaha rbx374, red, active. Current bass - does the job and a big full stop at the end!

In the Mac v.s PC argument. I have to say +1 to a mac. In a word 'Reliability'. I am head of ICT at a secondary school and we use a mixture of mac and PC's on or network. I use both every day. We have a recording studio running pro tools on a G4 powermac quite nicely at work - I believe that some of the effects are run outboard to save on processor time. Having spent plenty of time on both, my choice has to be a mac for at home. For recording at home, I use a mac mini (2ghz core 2, 4gig ram, 750gig external drive) which does the job nicely. I run an m-audio fast track audio interface (although I wish I had spent more and got one with 4 or 8 inputs. I use garageband as it came with the mac, but the plan is to upgrade to logic at some point. I know you can do the same on a PC, but it comes down to using a system that I can trust won't fail at a crucial time.

I'd got it figured. I knew I wanted a jazz. I knew I couldn't afford an America standard. I was going to buy a Squire Classic Vibe jazz..... ....BUT.... I went into a music store in lincoln yesterday and played a Fender America Standard Precision. It was lovely. Now I'm all confused. I want a Precision and a Jazz! and I tried the Squire CV Precision and it just didn't match up to the Fender. Back to square one.

Horses for courses. It totally depends on the bass/amp combination... Old setup was passive P/J Dean Bass into Trace stack. Dialled the bass full volume ran the 2 pickups on full and adjusted the tone as needed. On the amp it was flat EQ + Mid shift on. Current setup is Yamaha RBX Active 3 Band EQ into Ashdown Stack. Yamaha runs flat EQ on 3/4 volume (any more and it starts to sound dodgy). Amp EQ is disable, but I use the 'Make it sound like an ashdown' button, compressor at 10 o'clock. and then turn the drive (10 o'clock) on as needed. Next will be a jazz bass. I tend to dial in the neck pickup and then add a bit of bridge to fill out the sound - well in the music shop when I'm messing around

For me, I'm going through a "must buy Jazz bass" phase. Not sure if it will last or if I will like it, but I've been looking at the Squire Classic Vibe. BUT I happened to call in to a shop in lincoln that had an MIA S1 in sunburst with Tort scratchplate (I'm guessing an American Standard?) WOW it played beautifully. Also like the look of the new Squier James Johnston singaure model. I think it's meant to be the same spec as the classic vibe but in lake placid blue.

I don't use in ears myself for bass, but we have recently started using in ears for our drummer. We play an electronic kit and it goes Drumkit --> DI out 1 --> Desk DI out 2 --> Headphone Amp and Desk Aux -> Headphone Amp The headphone amp has 2 channels (cheapo behringer one - but does the job) so he can mix himself into the aux mix coming from the desk. He likes this as generally he want to be louder in-ear than the rest of us want to hear However, I have recently been advised that feedback could be a big problem if it goes into the in-ear mix (deafen the guy!), os I am now looking at getting a compressor/limiter for the aux line to avoid this problem. It will then go: Drumkit --> DI out 1 --> Desk DI out 2 --> Headphone Amp and Desk Aux -> Compressor/Limiter -->Headphone Amp This is a wired mix, not wireless. Hope it is of some help.

I am a christian and this sound as dodgy as anything. I agree with the earlier comments. Charities don't give away £1000 that easily. No offence, but if it's a promotional thing I can think of better ways to use £1000 for promotional material. Sounds like a scam to me. Avoid........

I have a Hercules guitar stand and want to get a case for it. I've been keeping it in the box it came in, but the box is now trashed. I'm not really sure what to put it in as it gets chucked in the back of a van each week and needs to be looked after, but as I only payed £40ish for the stand, a custom flight case seems a little bit over the top. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could use?
