  1. How horrible? If you are exaggerating the horribleness you may be ok. It's possible that at home you can't get the output stage into the sweet overdrive mode @4 ohms because it gets too loud before that happens, leaving you with clean tone.
  2. Remind him it could have been a whole lot worse!
  3. Just play it with fingers like I do. No compression required.
  4. Go down to your recycling centre and grab 20 cardboard boxes. Flatten them out properly. Laminate 2/3 them with a pot of adhesive and you have a slab of 2ft x 3ft. Cut a slightly oversized outline of your bass out and line it with an old T shirt or three, with a backplate The rest of the boxes make a prop that strategically slots onto your outline so it can lean back. Spray bomb it matt black and it will look like a bought one. You'll figure it out.
  5. @bassbiscuits I presume your cab is for monitoring. Have the courage to point it at your ears, because ideally that will better inform you what FOH is putting out front. If it it's playing to the house then best stand right in front of it so your treble doesn't make it out there.
  6. "Should be", implies he well could be..... Doubtful he knows my secrets as I am a secret squirrel from outer space.
  7. Bartleby should be employed by Europol.
  8. My band has a set of active Alto plastic fantastics that seem to handle a bit of electric piano and vocals ok. If you're on a budget I'd say you could do a lot worse.
  9. They sent you a box full of packing material????
  10. Shipping from UK not worth your while on a used old 15, even if it was free and you only had to pay for the shipping. If a courier dropped the box it could wreck it.
  11. Limelight at least put their own serial in sharpie on the back of the headstock. I can see the day someone refinishes the back of the headstock and fakes an authentic looking Fender serial and pawns it as Fender Customshop.
  12. There's a limit to how much roof raising you can do with a garden variety 210. Amps with the same 'rating' have no trouble blowing them up.
  13. Two words. Supply. Demand....
  14. If the Chinese knockoff something designed by Behringer, for a change, is it a lie?
  15. UK date format methinks. Eg 2/11/23 is 2nd November around here.
  16. For live, as close as it will go and still sound good. This means it will pick up relatively more bass and less drums.
  17. Sounds like you have proven the maxim "if it sounds like it's about to blow up, it probably will", by actual test.
  18. Does it not have an endpin? Not sure if you want a free standing stand mount for playing a la NS EUB or a set stand for breaks a la DB.
  19. The Elf DI is well regarded by those in the know.
  20. Edit out the bottom 5. Put in 5 more by popular request. Rinse and repeat.
  21. Gimme an extra 50 and I would try to score a used Origin FX Blackface GigRig just to see what all the fuss is about.
  22. "Here we see a rare elderly 'Ampus-backupitus Giganiticus' in its natural habitat. More usually found in the boot of the bass player's car."
  23. Not all MB is equal. If the cab for the MB210ii is a passive one that connects from the speakon 8 ohm output on the amp, all good to use another amp. Whatever you do don't hook up the combo to that set in reverse, or you will have two amps needing repairs. If it's an MB Active extension with it's own amp inside connecting from the combo chain out XLR and plugging in it's own power cable, not happening. Maybe the active can be defeated and there is a speakon for connecting an amp. Doubtful. Best post a photo of the extension cab back panel to be sure.
  24. FWIW I have had the same issue with acoustic kick when amped with a subwoofer. Maybe he modeled that one.
