  1. Yes. I only have my Serek Midwestern these days.
  2. - Active basses. They just don’t do it for me (and yes - I have tried!). - Long scale (35”+) and fanned frets. - Gold hardware. - Exotic wood finishes. - Black, white and sunburst colour. - More knobs than three. - More than four strings. - Weight. Anything over 4kg is a no.
  3. Precision basses/Mustangs and Stratocasters. I thought they were boring when I was young.
  4. Does the journeyman have a truss rod?
  5. Wanted: Wilcock Mullarkey. Any sellers out there?

  6. Indeed. Imagine this with a Serek LB90 pickup.
  7. Is it an Antoria from the 70’s or is this one newer?
  8. All Höfner necks are quite chunky, but broomstick like as they don’t taper. I think the dimensions are the same on the two models you mentioned. If you want a similar, yet thinner, neck I would suggest a 60’s or 70’s Hagström bass.
  9. I’ll never sell this Serek Midwestern. At less than 3kg, with great ergonomics, it is such a dream to play.
  10. Yes! I was about 10 seconds late. I would have bought one if I could.
  11. Thanks for sharing your views on the Mullarkey, TheGhostofJaco! It sounds like a Mullarkey would be a perfect complement to my Serek Midwestern (which sound like any other woody P-bass with the Novak Bisonic). I'll wait until one becomes available through the classifieds as I can't stand waiting another year for a bass (as I already have done with the Serek)!
  12. Yeah, you gotta love the old gumbyesque Epiphone basses in order to get along well with a Serek bass. It is a meticulously crafted bass though! I don‘t know anything about the Atelier Z basses either, but dig the look. Give us a review if you pull the trigger! Check out Rebirth Custom Guitars on Facebook and Instagram. All his builds are equipped with Mojo Pickups and pickguards from Axion Custom works (which makes the most beautiful tortoise guards!).
  13. Same here, but for some reason I bought and sold three shorties before I finally ordered a Midwestern. 🙄 Another option around a grand could be a Rebirth Custom Guitars Jazzmaster Bass. I’ve had one before and it was a great bass. They’re made to order by Taka Hirose (Feeder) in Yorkshire:
  14. Yes - a 10 month wait, but the basses are so good!
  15. If money is not an issue, I would suggest a Serek Midwestern 2 with Serek Singles pickups. If you’re into the Mustang shape, I’ve seen the Atelier Z BabyZ which is an active/passive jazz monster of a Mustang. That one is quite cheap as well (less than a grand on Reverb used).
  16. I can highly recommend Glen at Axion Custom Works in Bury, Manchester. Beautiful pickguards!
  17. Most Serek basses, such as this Midwestern with a bisonic pickup. They make 30, 32 and 34’ scale basses.
  18. I’d like another Serek Midwestern (this time with a B-90!) or a Wilcock Mullarkey.
  19. Hatfield and The North - The Rotters Club. Richard Sinclair’s tone is absolutely extraordinary and he sings beautiful while playing as well. Such a great band from the Canterbury scene.
  20. Looking for a Wilcock Mullarkey. All finishes are of interest. Cheers!

Thanks, but they are all sold and long gone.

He posts regularly on Facebook - I imagine you could always order one.

Hi Jack! I know, but I just don’t have the patience to wait for a year.

  21. Thanks, Dazed, but that is not the Mullarkey. I think that’s simply called the MM cause of the pickup.
  22. The Wilcock basses look absolutely stunning. How do they compare to Sereks? Does anyone have a Mullarkey for sale, by any chance?
  23. My wife does not mind new basses as long as they are surf green, daphne blue or other pastel colours.
  24. Old Hagström basses from the 60’s almost always had necks like broomsticks. Check them out if that is your thing!
