1. The necks on these 80s Jackson necks are fantastic, I regret selling mine. They're worth every bit of £500, I think £200's criminal.
 2. Haha, me and Cetera seem to be on the exact same wavelength when it comes to gear . I didn't mind the glitter band too much until all the baggage that came with it...erm but I'd probably be looking to John Birch were I to play his music - not sure it would go down well but after couple o buds and i'd give it a bash!! Chris Holmes is the exact reason I got it, just needed the Budweiser graphic and i'd be sorted, been listening to WASP since I was 4 and wore out my dads Crimson Idol tape. ahh how sad , going to see em in November
 3.
if you still want the rick i would give you it and £100 for this guitar and the charvel you offered me
Thanks for the offer but its still a little steep for me, I'll keep it in mind though
 4.
Pics are way too small mate!
+1 great price though!
 5. I purchased a '56 Bravewood Tele/Precision Bass copy from Kevin on friday afternoon and arrived here for monday - can't ask for better service than that, superquick packaging. The bass and case turned up in mint condition with extras and a brand new set of strings fitted, a fantastic value quality guitar to match the others in his collection and those sold previously on BC (the Nordstrands!!). Love it when musicians look after their stuff. Flawless correspondance, and a true gentleman to talk to. Thanks again Kevin, been searching for a great vintage style bass such as this for a loooong time . All the best!
 6.
Still do it and charvel for the rick 100 bucksd
I don't understand, the ESP and Charvel for the Rick 100 bucks?
 7. How are you supposed to know where they are if its collection only?
 8. I didn't like blizzard pearl at first but when I see it more and more with rosewood and white plate its actually quite funky. Change the neck to a rosewood jazz I say and get rid of the sticker lol
 9.
Price? I quite like the Bongo. Having played a couple they've sounded great and played nicely. The looks are much better in person too; they look miles better strapped on! Probably my favourite bass in the Musicman range, although I do seriously question the use of basswood in the body, it seems like a bit of a cheapo option! I remember seeing Joe Satriani live being supported by some guy called Johnny A. Johnny's bassist played a white Bongo 5 HH and sounded absolutely dreadful, like he was behind a wall of pillows. The Dave LaRue came onstage with Joe playing a variety of Bongos which sounded consistently great! So the player has a lot to answer for!
I went to this gig, although I thought Johnny. A's bassist sounded sweet. Walking basslines a plenty. Dave La Rue's one of my favourite bass players and he used both a Sterling and a Bongo with Satriani (mainly the sterling). I preferred the Bongo, the Sterling's neck is cramped chordally and the tone not beefy enough - I vote Bongo.
 10. Defretted that would be high on my wish list. Brilliant with frets as well though! ESP are vastly underrated.
 11. Lucky man!! I want it. Its like the Fender 50th Anniversary but better value. +1 a simple white scratchplate would look nicer.
 12. I love bolt on basses too! I live in Carlisle as well, always wanted an Overwater for sentimental value, yours is stunning.
 13.
Used to have one of these, lovely basses, Im really surprised this one hasn't gone yet, Bobs a great bloke to deal with and really takes care of his basses, this will certainly be worth a punt for someone....
+1 Now Overwater have changed to east preamps they sound the biz. This would be effortless to play as well.
 14.
Nicely mental.... The guitarist I've worked with for the last 15 years had gone through literally dozens of guitars in that time. However, one thats always stayed close and been used on most gigs is a US Charvel white strat shaped neck thru thing. Must be good then.
Aww thats lovely to hear!! They based they're necks on measurements from a '64 Fender Strat, I think thats their best feature, although theres some dispute between whether Charvel or Ibanez necks are the best, comfort wise the Charvel wins but I guess speed wise Ibanez is on top (I've owned both previously). I don't think they made many thru necks, mainly bolt on hot rods for punchy chords and strat tone style solos whilst nicking the Gibson bridge humbucker - for classic rockers the crunch is fantastic. I owned the P/P Star bass which was ok, but the reissue series wasn't the best quality to be frank. They make fantastic custom tele basses but the guitar tone is particularly unique and very recognisable...to me anyway, easy as telling between a Precision or Jazz bass.
 15. I've tried both but still couldn't decide, I think a G&L L2000 is a fantastic compromise of both although I know i'd like a P mainly because of the neck. I have small hands but chordally its easier and less cramped for me on a wide neck and it compromises my speed minimally - a P also has a better band presence, provided you have a good amp. If I were playing in my room i'd use a Jazz/stingray or Rickenbacker for the look and tonal fun but a precision is essential to have. +1 for a G&L L2000 covers the fenders well in passive or active.
 16.
MB1. "Tonight Matthew I'm going to be Dusty from ZZ Top!"
Haha, I do love ZZ! I've got the Tele bass to compliment it now as well (still chuffed!)
 17.
I like Charvel, but that is pretty wrong looking unless you have invented a way to travel back to the 80's and are planning on taking it there with you.
Haha I just thought it would look good with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers shirt...or the Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie Facepaint. I was initially going to have it stripped and have a budweiser graphic put on but I grew to really like it.
 18.
Bass paid for, and deliver arranged. bass will be uplifted from myself in a short while and will be with Oli on Monday. Hope you have fun with the bass mate, it really is a great instrument.
Wonderfully quick and easy transaction, its just hit me that its pretty much a Fender Custom Shop at a wicked price with the best Tele finish so i'm feeling much better about it. I'll let you know when it arrives and leave some feedback
 19. Hi BCers, Just wanted to see what you make of my recent addition to my collection in late August of this year, I've wanted one since I was four having found it on a picture inside a cassette. Theres only 20 of this type made by Grover Jackson of Jackson Charvel Guitars so I had to import it from the US - this is the last one on sale: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/gb-Charvel-Sta...Bolt-SALE-.html I received a DVD of the workshops activities and interviews from San Dimas Los Angeles plus a signed check list and C.O.A - all the Luthiers now work for Fender or Jackson's Custom Shop. I'm threatened with having to sell it (I won't!!) this is only part of the reason I've put it up, I'm more intrigued as to your first impression/knowledge of the guitar/company...
 20.
brilliant! you decided to keep playing the bass then?
Did indeed Luke '56 P bass replica inbound . James Brown played a part in the persuasion.
 21.
Nice one Oli! Fancy a Sadowsky???
Haha dont tempt me further, you'll be the first I consult if I don't like it
 22.
Sold to Oli - pending payment! Thanks for all the interest guys - you are a class bunch of bassists!
Cheers Kevin! I learnt from missing out on your Nordy's previously, not sure whether to laugh or cry at current - exciting all the same!
 23. The neck on my old Tokai Hardpuncher was superbly comfy and very similar to the G&L L2000 Tribute I recently owned.
 24. Further proof of its versatility: Ed Friedland the reviewer for Bassmagazine in the US uses a GBE1200 with 212T Neo Cab, And that guy plays A LOT of basses
