  1. Must be, I lost a fiver in the late 80's, a mate of mine found a fiver in 2002 a few streets away, I made him give it back to me
  2. I love the 'caged tubes' aesthetic of this, almost like there's a dangerous animal in there
  3. That's web content mate, everything's either too short or too long 🤔
  4. Advice which guarantees it’ll never sell 🤔
  5. You may need a period of quiet reflection
  6. Anyone who loves high-quality vintage amplification needs to check out Mike's FS threads and get in quick because he has some absolute beauties! I came away from Mike's with some big boxes at very generous prices and I'm very pleased I did. Needless to say given the feedback already posted in this thread, Mike's a real gent to deal with 👍
  7. @Owen I thought you had moved beyond such technology If DIY fixes don't work I'll dig out the details of the mic repair guy recommended to me a while back, rates seemed reasonable 👍
  8. That's what tube amps are for 👍
  9. Thr Baroque rhythm section (double bass/cello and harpsichord usually) was f***ing awesome, predating similar awesomeness by the likes of Chic by about 300 years 👍
  10. Good thread 👍
  11. Every component makes a difference, and all other things being equal, the less engineered the component, the greater the potential magnitude of that difference. And if a difference exists it must exist in some amount and if it exists in some amount it can be measured (in theory). But in measurement we have noise (a metaphor in most cases of measurement, but literal fact in music/audio), which all too often means all bets are off when it comes presence of a wood-related difference versus the measurability of that difference and the importance of that difference. As the old scientific statement goes, 'not everything that can be measured is important, and not everything that is important can be measured'.
  12. I was not commenting on the validity of the argument, just that it served a pickup maker to suggest that pickups are where the tone resides
  13. I received the exact opposite claim - wood makes NO difference to tone at all - from a very well known maker of pickups. Go figure 🤔
  14. No, it’s a bitsa but a rather special one, trust me 👍
  15. I've always seen music as much about the social as the artistic, so when a few local guys who I both really like and who can really play got some momentum around a series of projects, I felt very happy to be picking up an electric again (in fact two, more to come.....) 👍
  16. There might be another coming soon also...... 🤔
  17. '71. It's a bloody beaut. Alignment of several stars 👍
  18. Bands 🤔
  19. I did 6-months but.......
  20. Long story as to the why and the how, but very happy nonetheless. Original 1971 in all it's glory, weighs slightly less than the Titanic but is a joy, plays like butter and sounds like the Precision sound in your head. Bought for s very specific project that I'm now very glad I chose 👍
  21. IIRC some of Townsend’s demos in this are even better than the final album versions, wish I had £100 👍
