  1. Really enjoyed that ๐Ÿ‘
  2. Sorted https://reverb.com/uk/item/79844096-warwick-reverso-artist-series-adam-clayton-signature-4-string-bass-2010s-gold
  3. I don't think you can go far wrong with the Markbass unit ๐Ÿ‘
  4. And BTW the one on the left is for sale, and it's going to need to go to pay for the repairs to the one on the right ๐Ÿค”
  5. Thanks @Merton as above I'll try with Status again next week and see where things land ๐Ÿ‘
  6. Thanks @LeftyJ I'll give Dawn a call next week, I think I owe it to the bass to get it looked at and sorted by Status if at all possible. If not, I'll have to think of other options ๐Ÿ‘
  7. Thanks guys, I'm hoping to have some luck with Status but slow progress at present, which I get. I registered with the Statii forum - or tried to - ands am just getting this...
  8. It's huge but sits perfectly and plays so easily. It's Modulus Flea territory with a little more versatility and, dare I say it, a little more heft (can a bass have heft or is it just amplification....?). Thanks for your earlier posts Andy, helped a lot ๐Ÿ‘
  9. I'm going to keep this, in part because despite the problems it's an incredible piece of engineering and I won't find another anytime soon, in part because I don't want the hassle of dealing with a shitty seller (and BTW Reverb have handled this very poorly), and in part because I'm going to enjoy fixing it. While the financially sensible thing to do is to get the circuit repaired, given I'm not convinced the bass was all that well maintained, I don't think I'll feel fully happy unless a new circuit is installed. I was hoping that Status might be able to supply/build a replica of the original but having been initially quite responsive they've gone very quiet which is frustrating. So I'm guessing there are a few options from here. Re the earlier comment about size, check this out.....
  10. 9/10 when a tube amp thatโ€™s been working fine develops a fault itโ€™s a tube, so itโ€™s always worth having a few spare tubes around to test before getting techs involved. I do think Iโ€™m missing a trick not owning one of these heads ๐Ÿค”
  11. Was that the fretless Buzzard?
  12. I suspect we evaluate a bass as a function of expectations of that bass, a ยฃ250 instrument that performs like one legitimately worth ยฃ500 always impresses and generates positive perceptions and emotions. But against a bass with legitimate value of ยฃ2,500 that ยฃ250 bass, no matter how good, will nearly always lose out. The key question is of course how much that intervening ยฃ2,250 means to you ๐Ÿ‘ And note my deliberate use of โ€˜legitimatelyโ€™ ๐Ÿ™‚
  13. Nice ๐Ÿ‘Œ
  14. No point buying anything but a special bass (i.e. one you canโ€™t put together simply yourself), bitsas built from Basschat/ebay/Reverb parts win on price and quality over factory basses a lot of the time, keeping a keen eye open for used components by Warmoth, Allparts, Mighty Mite, Gotoh, means you can build some cracking instruments ๐Ÿ‘
  15. I was in the firing line of one Sunday evening, extraordinary volume ๐Ÿ‘
  16. All the best @Paolo85, hope you find your way back to playing one day ๐Ÿ‘
  17. There's no better evidence against the watts=volume argument than a B-15 ๐Ÿ‘
  18. This ^ I've gigged a B-15 because when pushed to the edge of it's limits it's got exactly the tone I'm looking for. I've gigged amps rated 10x higher (in watts) that sounded shit at the same apparent volume. Irrespective of watts ratings, there are some units that are almost standards given how many gigging bassists use them, for example the Markbass 1x12/2x10 combos. Output of most can be improved through extension cabs, and they can be bought quite cheap and sold on for the same if they don't do the job to your liking. That's probably where I'd start my experimentation.
  19. Beautiful condition, and that board looks like a rather lovely and dark chunk of rosewood ๐Ÿ‘
  20. It will be Lawrie (despite many attempts, Jazzes tend to have short life expectancy at my place) ๐Ÿ™‚ I've had a Warmoth fretless Precision neck on it for a few months and used it quite a lot. While the Jazz neck is a joy to play (and to look at), I just don't have the dexterity for thin necks when push comes to shove. I was tempted to put the precision neck back on but given on a Jazz I mostly use back PUP open and the front PUP rolled back, it makes more sense to stick with my two FLPJs anyway ๐Ÿ‘
  21. Very much not all original of course, but mostly early 70's in origin
  22. Did someone mention fretless 70's Jazz bound neck....... Very much not all original of course, but mostly early 70's in origin ๐Ÿ‘
  23. I do like a happy ending, nice one @GuyR ๐Ÿ‘
  24. KT88s?
