  1. It was McFly, and god they were not great were they
  2. That latter bass didn't look nice did it. Did you notice the two Ashdown 8-x10s with no head?
  3. And yes I have had a couple of beers
  4. Watching Little Mix the Search with the family and, crikey, there's a bloke playing a Ric 4000, made my day Band's called Since September, it was nice to see something vaguely rock and guitar-based on one of these shows. And as far as I'm concerned, anyone with the good sense and good taste to play a 4000 should win any talent show they care to enter for that factor alone
  5. Firstly name and shame the company in question on here. Secondly get medieval on their social media. Third write an email to their MD and post that on social media also.
  6. They were also the precursor to the Highway One series.
  7. Memory just kicked in! It's an American Traditional Jazz Bass, plenty online about them (and on BC), but a nice bass assuming it's structurally fine.
  8. I forget the name of the series (American Classic perhaps?), but they are very nice basses and a major step up from standard MIM at that time. IIRC they were US parts assembled in Mexico. I paid £400 for one about 15 years ago, so anything less than £600 and I'd consider it a decent deal.
  9. Looks awful with single PUP cover and all those PUPs, like wearing a waistcoat and a cardigan. Think it’s one of those must-have basses that quickly becomes one of those must-sell basses 😞
  10. That's if they do work But yes, agreed, most HMBs are simply more stable, although as someone who mostly plays heavy flats, I find that the sheer mass and tension of the stings tends to keep even the lightest of bridges in it's place
  11. Breakfast in America: Supertramp
  12. Wooden instruments are like human beings, there are general rules but while most instruments conform to some, very very few if any conform to all, and some even conform to zero! Trial and error with each individual instrument is the only way
  13. It would be rather amusing if this line of thinking led to a trend for low mass bridges given discussions elsewhere on the forum
  14. Jino B-bass and Pino P-Bass, it's almost like someone in marketing planned it
  15. Wasn’t Motörhead, by Lemmy, pretty much written about himself?
  16. Hi mate, yes it's pretty much new and unused I'm embarrassed to say
  17. Any offers before I eBay this?
  18. Thanks linear, I was aiming on using the line level inputs yes, but assume that there's a preamp between these and the converters also, I'm pretty sure I've been able to increase the signal level on the RMEs when I've plugged bass straight in. Might be wrong so will check
  19. Thanks mate, given your consistent responses re recording I think I need to put you on a consultancy contract! I've done quite a lot of reading around and I posted here because it's clearly one of those issues that divides opinions. But, even people who argue that ideally you should not run pre into pre seem to agree that as long as they're both decent quality and you've got the gain structure OK you're probably not going to hear much difference, this for the point you make, a decent interface isn't designed to colour your signal, just get it to the optimal level and convert it (and neither of my RME units have anything other than gain on the input side).
  20. That's a band I'd like to see, and a guitarist who likes to hear the bass is a rarity, most I've played with like to hear the guitar! Totally agree, if you're going on the road, especially overseas, you're carrying a lot of weight. I suspect that if you opted for some of the gear mentioned above, and perhaps had a look at Barefaced cabs, you're going to save your back a lot of work for a very good tone. The questions remains whether it's the same tone (although if you dropped Alex at Barefaced an email he'll certainly do his best to advise you on cab choice given your current rig).
