So that’s why they’ve not been making FLs for a while 🤔

Bass instrument in low register note playing shocker

All true, but….. Ashdown have a sound that is less obvious and less generic, although to my ear still no less powerful and musical than Ampeg. Having both, plus of course a Mesa all-tube head, is the way to go 👍

Still remember the first time I heard War Pigs, what a band

Gigged it again last week in a very different set, much more presence required, and again it was as good an amp as I could have hoped for. I kept it on the edge of break-up most of the time, occasionally pulling back into Motowny thump, but at other times unleashing the full visceral power of the power tubes. Even my Mesa M-Pulse can’t do the latter, it gets very close, but…… 🙂

Has anyone played a Hagstrom Super Swede?
Beedster replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
Interesting, the bass just felt wrong to me, it balanced badly, it didn't resonate in the way I'd expect a bass to, it almost felt like it was built of something other than wood, wonder if the neck design/engineering was a factor? -

They're no doubt owned by a business who could -
In short, in all the situations in which you're more likely to damage the bass

Same here, I bought one on eBay 10 years back and, IIRC, had to give it away a few weeks later. Although I checked the advertised dimensions I didn't realise just how much bigger than a DB a DB hard case is, and more specifically, how much more challenging it is to move around, for example getting around corners, up stairs, into cars etc

I bought one a few years back and sent it back, I think in part because it was a naive buy (I hadn't really done my homework) but also because while it looked beautiful, it felt cheap. Tone wise I didn't really get too much playing time in but there was nothing there that would have made me think twice about keeping it 👍 -

Editing 'for sale' posts to remove everything.
Beedster replied to Jack's question in Site Issues and Questions
Agreed. Also while it makes sense that people remove photos as we all have limited capacity on our accounts, I've always found it unusual to the point of being suspicious when people remove all the descriptive text as well -
My other half saw her a couple of years back and still talks about it being the best gig she's seen in 30-odd years, and she wasn't a huge fan beforehand. JLP was a big moment in 90's music culture, and to my mind on the basis of that one album she deserves the Legend status irrespective of anything she's done since. Also enjoyed her set last weekend and remain a little confused at some of the criticism, for example that she couldn't stand still........ 👍

Mmm, very good suggestion, Song From Under The Floorboards is one of my all-time faves to play 👍 -
This has been my experience, if I needed to buy a Fender blind, I'd happily buy and MIJ/CIJ, less so a MIA, even less so an MIM, and infinitely less so a Custom Shop given the price:risk ratio
-
If you buy a car, a TV, or a washing machine, the more you pay the better the features, at least within a brand. It's simply not the case with Fender, where you can find a Squier that blows a Custom Shop out of the water. A good example for me is my Classic Vibe '51 Precision which plays, feels, and sounds as good, if not better, than my old Custom Shop relic 51 that retailed for almost 10 times more. There is variability in wood for sure, but far too much of all of this is smoke and mirrors; Fender would love you to think that a Custom Shop instrument is infinitely better than a Squier, but they know damn well the differences are often random, and that the purchase of a FCS instrument is often as much about bragging rights as about quality
