  1. Hi mate I'm heading up to Norfolk so quite probably 👍
  2. Only gigging double bass these days and even that's through PA so sadly this lovely if quite old rig has to go. Price is silly for the quality - the tone is large and lovely - but also reflects the significant weight of the cab plus the fact that the cab has seen better days! I won't split and rig will have to be collected or we arrange meet-up or delivery. I'll be out an about in the car later this week............. Happy new year all
  3. Wow! If only that preamp was stereo that would be a hell of a hifi!
  4. Frankly I have the moral victory for 2023 for not buying your Bryant 🤔
  5. I walk in your shadow Lawrie 👍
  6. So, let me get this straight……? 😆
  7. Assume I’m still allowed to sell?
  8. I’m in, got all the gear I need 👍
  9. I forgot to mention above that the bass is currently equipped with a Badass II and a John East J-Retro, each replacing the original BBOT and passive Jazz circuit in the photos above respectively. I'm happy to put these components into the mix (along with the original components) depending on the deal. Re the component changes, my sense with this bass was that the Jazz and Precision options work really very well with the passive circuit but that the active circuit really brings the 'Ray PUPs to life. Badass as ever is a matter of taste as much as technology 👍
  10. Tonight’s main and spare 👍
  11. Nice one Lawrie, you're a credit to the forum, I'm aiming to do something similar myself in 2024 👍
  12. Sadly I'm starting to agree, I used to see eBay, BC etc as a gear exchange, but with increasingly poor and expensive couriers, persistent scammers, and to a lesser degree a tangible shift towards the negative in the culture of buying and selling used musical gear, I'm feeling much the same way Bloody glad you sold your Bryant though Lawrie, it was causing me sleepless nights
  13. And green 👍 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315036032349?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=5yjhiyh2q4i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=155UlNbXQGW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  14. I think I've been quite lucky in that most of the folks I've played with seem able to listen to a rehearsal recording and calibrate it against their and the band's expectations. Where I find it most helpful is in timing, IME most decent musicians can hear pitch problems in real time and respond accordingly but many really struggle to hear rhythmic problems, especially when systemic. But yes, I've been lucky 👍
  15. There will always be a bit of this, it's basic (sub) human pecking order stuff, but it's worth finding a way around it either way, and over weeks and months engineering that solution in. For example if his BVs are that bad suggest they record the rehearsals to identify 'areas for improvement'? My (sarcastic) approach to poor vocal pitching has always been "sounds like the band are out of tune with the vocals there, we'll all need to work on that?
  16. Agree 100% with that, how many bands have let a member to go only to find a long list of replacements who were equally if not more problematic. Years ago we replaced a decent and reliable singer with an outstanding singer who sadly lacked the reliability of his predecessor and in doing so turned a minor irritation into a major and ongoing stress (he also came with a habit or two that added to the complications). What would Stephen Stills say......
  17. More details on the PUPs here https://www.sims.guitars/pickups/super-quad A few more pics of the bass Circuit cavity (cover is magnetic so no need for screws to replace battery) Neck LEDs (on note/'fret' of course) Lovely figuring on the neck Headstock
