1. Yes, Paralell. Apologies, I should have made that clear.
2. Quick rule of thumb guide for all you people interested in Ohms... This guide assumes that the speakers are wired in parallel. Two 16 ohm speakers = 8 ohms Two 8 ohm speakers = 4 ohms Three 8 ohm speakers = 2.66 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting ) Four 8 ohm speakers = 2 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting) Two 4 ohm speakers = 2 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting ) One 4 & one 8 ohm speaker = 2.66 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting ) One 5.33 & one 8 ohm speaker = 3.2 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting ) One 2.66 & one 8 ohm speaker = 2 ohms ( use 2 OHM setting ) Two 2 ohms speakers = 1 ohm Three 4 ohms speakers = 1.33 ohms Two 4 & one 8ohm speakers = 1.6 ohms
3. For a lot less dollar too ! https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/sing...p?product=BX500
4.
Try 'Ladies & Gentlemen' by Saliva. Youtube it - have fun! - Can't play the verse on a 4 - not low enough gicut58
I own a Custom Shop Washburn Idol which belonged to the guitar player from Saliva. Its by far the best guitar I've ever played. f*** knows why he got rid of it.
5.
Once In A Lifetime - Talking Heads!
A deceptively tricky bassline when learning it. Simple and works great though.
6.
Has your band ever played a song that offended people or you were asked not to play it again not because you didnt play it right, i meeen just the song itself
How long have you got? Some of the people who don't approve frequent this forum
7. Mate, its M-E-T-A-L! Its not meant to sound clean!!
8. Never heard of to be honest mate. Not a lot out there on the web either about them. Good luck with the sale.
9. What was the name of the punk band who owned it previously?
10.
Orange are the new face of metal mark my words here and now!
Hmmm. I'd wouldn't go that far. I still reckon the Peavey 5150 is probably the greatest metal guitar amp out there. I've tried both Orange and own a 5150 and much prefer the 5150. I agree with you on the point about being better than Marshall - I just don't like any of their old or new stuff at all and I've own JCMs, DSLs, played through JCM800s and TSL heads. All of them just leave me cold.
11. Its probably why the far-eastern economies are so strong and have been strong for decades. Its simple economics. If you can manufacture the stuff cheaper by using cheap(er) labour then the profits maximise and you can sell your products at a reduced rate. We've all benefitted from it with our Korean / Indonesian / Chinese instruments that we own. A lot are made under license from the bigger companies to maximise their market. The simple answer is to stop buying these instruments and only buy US / British / European instruments but that would mean more outlay. How many on here are willing to do that?
12.
Yeah I enjoyed that bit too. There's another thread knocking around at the minute, about whether the guys pushing the boundaries of bass are wasting their time if normal bass players can't incorporate that stuff into their playing in the real world. Maybe it takes an attitude like Ox to stand up say to a band "F'off this is how I'm going to play the bass"... Although aside from Daltrey not being able to hear himself, The Who seemed to understand that a loud, prominent, dynamic bass line was part of their sound.
Wise words indeed. Was very interesting how Keith Moon's death affected Entwistle's playing with Townsend saying that he went back to playing like a "normal" bass player (like Pino Pallidino).
13. JE Came cout with the classic about Roget Daltrey telling him to turn down constantly. So he said he used to turn down and after a couple of songs turn it back to the original volume and Daltrey never noticed the difference. Does that sound familiar ? I laughed at the bit where he said he'd had enough and threw down his bass ($3,000 Alembic Explorer) and said "You play the f***ing thing then!" and walked off stage. LOL!
14. Watched an Ox's Tale last night. Very good indeed. One thing that was glaring though was the abscence of any input from Roger Daltrey. Wonder what that was all about?
15. Try Audere pre-amps. I've got one in my Yamaha (which also has Nordstrand pickups) and it souinds killer.
16.
Have watched this...Must recommend it to anyone. He was a bassist pushing the boundries in a time when there was no one doing that. He had no inspiration of bassists past as they didn't do much interesting and had to go it alone. I feed of inspiration...I dunno how he managed it alone!
I'm hearing the word "genius" bandied about in certain threads today.. the above really is genius. He was a fantastic bass player and an inspiration to many (including myself). I've Sky-plussed this so I'll watch this over the weekend. Was the documentary about the Who any good that was on afterwards?
17. Them lovely [s]bastards[/s] people at RyanAir now want £60 to take a guitar on board.
18. Oh mate, if only this was fretted, I'd have had this in a flash. I've got one already and was after another one (in black). Great basses indeed and this is a bargain.
19.
They take me with the Roscoe or they get someone else!
Now you're learning. If you have confidence in your ability and sound then I wouldn't let anyone (especially a non-bass player) tell me what bass I should and shouldn't be using. You can bet your bottom dollar that they'll be dictating how you play, what way you play it until you become just bass playing puppet. I've had first hand experience of this in the past. Never again!
20.
I have one on a jap Jazz A good service with nice people who answered all my questions. Will not improve the sound like a active but will give more variations
Am I right in thinking that there is no soldering involved with this... just place the pickup wire in the pink housing and tighten the screws?
21. Bireli Lagrene is one seriously talented musician.
22. I like 'em both. I've got a 5-String Warwick Rockbass which has really narrow string spacing and a Yamaha TRB which has really wide string spacing. Both great to play. For me, the neck shape is more important.
23. I don't think I could go back to playing a 4-string now. 5 just seems "right" for me now. Especially for use with downtuned guitars.
24. They are great basses. I love my TRB5 - which is funny because I hated it when I first got it.
