1. Check out his negative feedback... http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...mp;interval=365
2. Tell you what mate, stick a set of Kent Armstrong Vintage Hot Precision pickups in there and you'll have a stoking bass there. I stuck a set in an old Squier and the sound is incredible from it. They're only around £30 on Ebay - highly highly recommended.

4. Typical of Gibson - they just overprice everything and rely on their name to sell it. I'm seriously disillusioned with Gibson when it comes to guitars. Their quality control is dubious to say the least and there are much much better guitars out there for the price. Prime example being the Gibson Les Paul and the Washburn Idol - the Idol IMO leaves it standing in terms of playability, price and sound - its just that some people HAVE to be seen playing a Gibson. f*** 'em. I've sold all my Gibsons now anyway. The only one I regret is a nice Flying V I sold but it ain't the end of the world.
5. He's living in cloud cuckoo land if he thinks he's going to sell that. In fact, if he does I will fry, season and eat my own bollocks off a plate.
6. The Precision through 4x12 torn speaker thing was used by Geezer Butler on the recording of the very first Black Sabbath album. It sound surprisingly good for rock believe it or not.
7. Sabbath used mostly Eb for their songs but Children of the Grave was definitely done in Drop C.
8. I'd buy whichever one feels the most playable. There's some really good replacement P-bass pickups out there - not least the Kent-Armstrong Hot Vintage pickup which sounds absolutely amazing.
9. I've gone the other way to all this, I was playing covers in my early 20s and made loads of cash from it. Now I play in an original punk band. The thought of playing Blanket on the Ground and I saw Her Standing There by the Beatles makes me wanna puke.
10.
too bright to start with and sound like mud after a week. rotosounds suck.
Pretty much sums up my experience of these strings.
11. Is this stll for sale?
12.
thanks for all the advice! d'addario have also been in touch so gonna have a word with the guitarists and see what they wanna do.
d'addario - you're guitarist will love them. They are what I use on all of my axes. Easily the best guitar strings out there. Bass-wise I've currently got a set of d'addario pro-steels on my Rockbass and they do sound nice, just not as nice as the DR HI-Beams. Still nice though.
13. Personally I don't think Roto's compare to DR Hi-Beams. For me they are the ultimate string. I've tried loads, DiAddario, Rotosound, GHS, Dean Markley, Klondyke, Ernie Ball (which really were crap strings) and Elites. DR all the way. Their Lo-Riders aren't bad either.
14. Just wondering with them chrome like glass finishes, what varnish is used over it? Presumably Poly?
15.
Argonaut - metal/rock band from South Wales Our 11 track debut album is available for anyone interested (£5) Mixed by Alex Newport (Taint, ATDI, Mars Volta, Melvins, Sepultura, Fudgetunnel) and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Battles) www.myspace.com/argonautofsouthwales
Not sure if anyone's checked this band out yet but I bought their album a while ago. All I can say that it is the f***ing dog's knackers. How they aren't bigger than they already are is beyond me. Very well produced and some great tunes. Singer has got an exceptional voice and the lyrics actually mean something. Highly recommended!
16.
I thought they only ever made them in China and Taiwan?
The early ones were made in Korea. I have a 5-string natural coloured one with what looks like an ash body. Absoloutely great sound out of it and I want one in black.
17.
Finally watched this, thought it was balls quite frankly.
LOL! The eloquence ! Very true though.
18. Thanks mate. If it was Korean, I would probably have had this.
19.
We worry so much about our nuances in tone and even band members sometimes dont notice
Wise words indeed and worth remembering if you get too bogged down and anal about how your bass sounds.
20. Rockbasses are very underatted, especially the early ones from Korea. I have a Corvette and I absolutely love it.
21. Is this a Chinese or Korean Rockbass mate?
22.
Some pretty luddite views in this thread. There seem to be a lot of members scared of change, which is kind of ironic considering that the thing that brings us all together is an instrument that was invented less than 60 years ago.
I wouldn't say Luddite views, I'd say different opinions on what we enjoy listening to. If I wanna hear someone play a piano concerto, I'd prefer to listen to it on the the piano that the bass. It just leaves me cold when I hear stuff like this. I'm not knocking the bloke's musical ability, just wondering why he chose the bass. As for scared of change, this has been done so many times before and to be honest, it hasn't really caught on. Not with me anyway.
23.
Nope. Still don't get it. If you're that determined to sound like a six-string acoustic guitar, why not go and buy a six-string acoustic guitar, instead of modifying a Bass out of all recognition, so you can show how good you are on something that sounds exactly like a six-string acoustic guitar, while telling everybody it's a Bass?
Exactly. Honestly, I'm not knocking people who do these sorts of compositions on the bass, if they enjoy it, more power to them. For me though, I wanna hear some solid grooves, tight basslines and basically players who use the bass for its designed role. I remember watching Stuart Hamm do some Beethoven piece and it was just cringworthy.
24. Can he groove though?
