1. I've just removed this from my fretless Streamer as I am very much a simple 2 band kind of guy (fitted an Aguilar OBP1). Works perfectly and is complete with the pots and knobs. It isn't a major job to fit it as all of the pots are already soldered to the wiring etc it's just a case of soldering to the output and soldering your pick-up wires to the pots. There are schematic diagrams on the Warwick site and I've some digi-photos I took just in case I had problems (which I didn't). Alternatively a tech can do this job in an hour or two. Someone does have first refusal on this but if they don't get back to me by the end of the weekend just shoot me an offer. These are 200+euro from Warwick
 2.
Yeah I used paypal. Unsupprisingly when I got in contact with the seller through ebay it all went quiet, so Ive opened up a paypal dispute under the "misdescription" category. If he doesnt respond by monday morning Im going to escalate it to a claim.
Your doing the right thing but you do have to be aware that when PayPal find in your favour (which I'm certain they will) they will refund you after you have returned the bass and not before. So you are going to be out of pocket to the tune of the carriage fees, unless the seller contacts you and you can get the pup off him (if he ever had it) and/or a discount on the price. If you do return the bass you need to ensure that you have and retain proof. This has all be learned the hard way by me, so be warned the seller will be miffed (even though it is his fault) and will likely as not try and get the upper hand in this.
 3.
Price now halved, to £1,495 Still wouldn't touch with proverbial barge-pole
Price now back up to £2900... the seller is probably registered on here and having a laugh about this thread
 4.
Just think what the final value fee will be.
Yes that will smart and we all 'kin hate ebay but he (if it does indeed sell) made more than the present going rate for a Warwick on BC
 5.
It looks like the fingerboard is ebony....am I right, or are my eyes fooling me? The usual wood from that period used in the fingerboards are wenge. What about a straight out sale?
You must have better eyes than me The fingerboard looks a fairly uniform brown which without a close up could well be Wenge OR Ebony... just buy it any way
 6.
That actually looks pretty good! Josh send it off to the warwick custom shop and get a quote on a build
Then sit back with a stiff drink Did you photoshop that Josh?
 7. Ah! The winning bidder has had an account 2 years and is zero rated... methinks this one won't be getting the £1180 final sale price
 8.
Actually, I'm gonna say something that you could all find really weird. For every practice and gig I've played so far bar one, I use my Peavey 50 and have had no problems with it whatsoever. Every practice, turn up, plug in and play, and i can always hear myself through the guitarists and drummer, when I'm stood right next to their 50 watt amps, and it never distorts or anything. If anyones interested, I may be selling up soon, although be warned that the power plug is a small bit dodgy, and if its shook about while plugged in, it may or may not cause the amp to die, but I think I sorted it the other day. Zach
Your right Zach that is 'really weird'... you have an amp with a dodgy plug that cuts out when you shake the plug and you carried on using it without checking the plug connections or just replacing the plug/lead altogether "Earth calling Zach", this is your life and/or property you are talking about!
 9. Just an update and bit of info for anyone searching in the future... The early Aguilar OBP1 (slim one not the latest cube type) runs on 18v. Saving the knee trembler when I had no output (I had the + and - reversed when soldered to the jack output), the swap was pretty straightforward and easy with the aid of the diagram from the Aguilar website. Oh and a positive to Warwick for prompt delivery of new pots and knobs.
 10. Credit where credit is due as I think we have a habit of being quite negative at times, so here goes... I ordered a set of control knobs and pots direct from Warwick via their on-line shop. I placed the order @ 17:26 on 26/08/08 and they were delivered by the postie @ 9:30 on the 29/08/08 Not bad service at all I reckon and their prices weren't too bad either!
 11. Durh! I ordered a set of 4 knobs for one of my Warwicks and they were described as 2 pieces which I (wrongly) assumed was a translation c*ck up and the grub screw was part of the 2 pieces... no they are supplied in twos! I now have 8 rather than 4, so if you want to replace fading hardware or need them for a project you can have them at cost without having to pay the minimum International shipping. £12 for the four inc UK carriage. That's cheaper than the cheapies you can get from some suppliers and these are the nice heavy genuine Warwick jobbies. If someone just wants two then I'll split them.
 12. Considering what some 50's instruments are going for I'd have thought $15000 was a reasonable amount? Does it appeal to anyone on here? http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=462237
 13. I may need to sell a JD Thumb to finance something else so my fingers are crossed this is an upward trend
 14. Nice to see prices heading up for a change... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/warwick-bass-guitar-...1QQcmdZViewItem
 15. It'll be a different thread altogether to assess your needs (we'll stick to bass related ones for now)... so to sort this out! Will your combo give you more than the 165w with an extension cab? I'm thinking the 300 designation in its title means that it will in which case beg/steal/borrow an 8 ohm cab (any bass cab, don't worry about make, wattage or speaker config for now ) and stick that in. I've a feeling it isn't the amp distorting but the speaker complaining. That'll get you through your gig then the GAS can begin and we'll all help you spend money that you ain't got
 16.
Buy it back you gonk!!!!!! Sell your Mesa amp or something, I know how horrible it is to see your bass in the hands of somebody else, it's like your missus being manhandled by a stranger.

Don't I know it...
I'm not a stranger to your missus... and I didn't do it anyway
 17.
Got 2 sets of hartke strings and broke twice the B string while tuning it up to B (and no, I didnt tune them past B ). They broke at the tuning peg 3 semitones before they reached the B. Gave the other 4 strings to a friend that plays a 4stringer and wont buy that crap anymore.
You may have just been unlucky No disrespect intended but the string wasn't a 'slightly' larger scale and sticking in the nut?
 18. 'If' you do decide to part with your Thumb be sure to indicate the year of manufacture and don't forget to stick it on the Warwick forum (warwick.de/forum), it is in English so don't worry about the .de Saying that there are a couple for sale on there but one or two have sold of late... depending on what you want for it you may be able to undercut the couple advertised Best of luck if you do go ahead!
 19.
who the hell is Paul Gilbert?
A skinny string player, synonymous with bassist Billy Sheehan and loads of others.
 20. My 'new' project is dedicated to just what you are doing. I've grown jaded with the whole; loud, full-on rock band thing and I've taken many of the songs that I used to do and broken them down so that they can be played with a guitar/bass/vocal approach... though we are cheating a bit by using a pair of loopers Saying all of that I have come back around to the idea of a drummer playing along with this more 'acoustic' laid back approach... probably going to end up back as a loud full-on rock thing Our set as is (in no particular order): Rock Star/Photograph Chelsea Dagger Mrs Robinson The Story Let Her Cry Dream Catch Me Learn to Fly Stop & Stare This is the Life The whole of the moon Walk this way Hanging by a moment Sidewinder sleeps She called up Games people play Place your hands on Black Horse & cherry tree Throw the curtains wide Sympathy for the devil Time of your life Shine Pour some sugar on me With or Without you Save tonight Mercy People are strange
 21.
Are you going to have a drum machine or sequencer instead? Wont the songs sound weird without drums?
When you say 'weird' you do mean better don't you
 22.
The OBP1 in my fretless wouldn't work at all on 9v - it's the cube-shaped one - no idea how old....
Mine is the earlier 'none-cubed' one. I'll give it a blast as soon as I get the pots, at least it'll be obvious if the thing just doesn't work on 9v
 23.
I suppose its not technically Bi-amping though. Just Wet-Dry mix. So it shouldnt matter about full range cabs. Either way, i bet it'll sound ace as tits.
Good point but I kinda assumed the OP was talking about splitting the signal into high and low signals (via a x-over or bi-amp preamp) as he is using the term bi-amp and not stereo or full range! Come back at us Finbar and clarify if you are talking bi-amp or stereo <edit> for typo
 24.
Don't distract the man !!!! Twin Ampeg 8x10's are essential for ALL pub gigs !! Everyone knows that.
Ah well he could subdivide each 8x10 into a left & right vertical stereo column I should hasten to add that I tried the mini-rig bi-amped via the preamp as described (pre signal to 2 combos) but as Alex, BFM et al will be able to tell you if you are sending a bi-amped signal to a couple of cabs that aren't designed for the bi-amp job (which a pair of Schroeder 1212s aren't) then you will not be getting the true benefit of bi-amping. Hence my decision to stick to full range signals going to combos that were intended to handle full range signals... and IMHO sounded better for being full-range BTW I did all of this about 12 years ago, way before t'Internet and before anyone could assist me in understanding why bi-amping into full range cabs just didn't sound right for me!
 25. I used to run a pair of combos with my bass going into #1 then the line out to #2 with my effects in the effects loop of one of the combos. I could then have both clean or one effected and the other clean so that the signal retained some punch. I tried splitting the signal from a preamp that I had and then sending it to the two combos (via effects) but I got better results as above. The only down side was that I 'had' to take both combos (H&K Bassbase, which were quite weighty) to get what I wanted. If you had a stereo cab (1 cab with each speaker(s) with its own separate inputs) you could do it on a smaller scale!
