1. Even if out of warranty (not sure what that entails on a Status) I'd be contacting them to see if they can remedy at cost! The nature of the cracks (for it looks like 2 separate ones) seems to be because of the screws inserted into the tuner retainers either over tightened or no guidehole/tap prior to inserting the screw? Whatever it is it looks like a wood/factory fault rather than a knock/abuse by the owner, especially in light of someone else having the same fault.
2. Something like this... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18931 You could PM the 2 owners of this combo and get an idea of its qualities!
3. You seem to be getting an awful lot of 'guidance' from the band/guitarist... my response to them by now would be close to being expressed in 2 short words If you have more patience than me and you are going to co-operate then you could consider playing basslines that descent in the key you are playing in whilst the guitar riff/line ascends (or vice-versa). I really have no idea of the level of your skill/competence so I'll shut up and see if that makes sense to you
4. Peavey did a 1U power amp range called the DPC (digital power converter) which came in 2 sizes 700w & 1400w (may be a bit out on the smaller one). They have the usual Peavey ruggedness/reliability and are cheap enough, if you can find one.
5. £100 That is obscene! I've never liked the look of the re-issue ones but I must confess an 'orange' one if cheap enough might have tempted me
6. I've always had a hankering to try one of these (that is the one with the very elongated horns and tiny headstock...) ever since seeing one reviewed in BassPlayer back in the 90's. I've never seen one up for sale in the whole interim period and I do look regularly!
7.
did you ever find your natural Streamer stage 1?
I got a natural Stage I fretless My GAS for a Stage I fretted natural was assuaged by my getting back a red Stage I bass that I owned over 15 years ago... it isn't any better than bluey, I just got it back for nostalgia's sake!
8. Squint hard enough and I'm sure it's Prince... he's let himself go though
9.
I'm in pain from laughing to hard

He's my new hero, in so many ways.
I hoped one or two might appreciate that!
10. I've linked this to another thread but you might get some ideas here Michael http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vi1aYLAZ7ho
11. This guy just goes to show looks aren't everything http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vi1aYLAZ7ho
12. I posted on here a while back about a new guitar manufacturer (http://www.krozka-sharpe.com/) who wanted some feedback on the potential of building a range of basses. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4244&hl=krozka Well it appears the Credit Crunch has hit hard! I popped in to see them from time to time and had some good craic with them but I was aware there was an under-current of things not going well. Earlier this year they were on a high as they had secured a large retail outlet for their guitars... unfortunately that point of sale was 'SOUNDCONTROL'. SC's demise put a big hole in their plans as they had invested a lot of time and money securing the deal. To cut a long story short, I called around there today it was locked up and the guy in the next unit said they had gone under Bit of a p*sser as they were nice guys and trying to do something for British guitar building. Wherever they are and whatever they are doing I wish them luck.
13. In an attempt to rationalise things, had a big clear out earlier this year. Sold a whole bunch of Warwicks that I had taken nigh on 20 years to collect and refine to the best of the best. I also bought and sold a ton of amps and cabs before settling on what I have now. 6mths later and I've almost managed to get back up to as many basses as I had before I sold up (but at least the amp/cab GAS has subsided) Go on, sell sell sell! Then in 6mths time... buy buy buy You'll never cure GAS if you keep coming on here anyway!
14. £400 for the amp and cab... that is a serious bit of kit for very little money! I had one of the amps and I'm sure I sold it for not much less than you want for the amp AND cab.
15.
I hope you never use your telepathic skills for evil!
Mwah hahaha ha... who said I wasn't
16. A hacked account, plain and simple I've absolutely no 'real' PC skills as such but I have a good dollop of common sense and intuition and I managed to get into that account with my 2nd attempt at guessing the users password I feel sorry for the user but what a prat!
17. EH! A none starter really
18. I have/use a BOSS BR532 that is about as easy to use as any old analogue 4 track tape recorder. I probably use 1/100th of its potential as I never use the cutting/pasting/editing features, I don't bounce down, never touched the built in effects and BOSS drum machine etc etc. It's digital so there is no untoward noise (unless you input a noisy signal) and as a simple recording tool it's a doddle. Probably cheap as chips to buy now. Downside is you can't burn to disc easily, so you have to transfer files to a PC... probably easier recording straight to your hard-drive! Depends what you are after I suppose
19. At least you're getting some warning! Martin our old singer used to think nothing of randomly introducing the band during whatever song he fancied and you're left with about 20 seconds warning that you need to come up with something. Fine in a funky number or something with a bit of pacey groove to it but when it's Robbie William's 'Angels' or Bill Wither's 'Ain't no sunshine'... I became expert at playing the first 4 bars of the theme tune to The Simpsons in every key and at every tempo But in answer to your original plea - I'd humble explain that what the audience 'really' wants to hear is the plaintiff tones of the guitarists fantastic instrument or the dulcet tones of the singer's lilting voice (lay it on thick with lashings of buttery platitudes) and not the boink plonk dong of the bass You'll do OK mate!
20. This is a rare 2007 Fender Jazz Bass, 60's re issue, in mint condition. Full spec can be found on Fender web site. Recommended retail price is £729.00. This is not your standard Jazz Bass! The neck is slimline. The pick ups are not standard. The finish is of the highest quality. Most of all, the sound is worlds apart from standard Jazz Bass, the sound quality is better than any US Fender I have played previously. Includes Fender gig bag and all documentation and warranty card. Delivery details to be arranged. Collection is an option. A few points if you please rare - How so? Recommended retail price is £729.00 - Are you sure? I thought Mexican Jazzes were about £350... you aren't trying to insinuate that it is a USA bass! not your standard Jazz Bass - Why... have you altered it? If not then it is; if you have then say so! The neck is slimline - Aren't they all! not standard (pick-ups) - Again, how so! Have you changed them? If not they are standard. worlds apart from standard Jazz Bass - How so? It is a standard Jazz bass isn't it! better than any US Fender I have played previously - Ah... you've tried lots then have you and again is that an insinuation this is a USA bass? Not saying it's a bad bass or a bad starting price but he/she's been a bit liberal in his/her description. There are clear photos of the MZ serial number but no direct reference to it being Mex and a few indirect references to USA pricing and basses! 21.
You must be alot smaller than me then John The neck was never a problem on mine, just the fact it was a BO.
I just have short arms... goes well with my deep pockets to avoid getting rounds in
22.
I swear my left arm's longer than my right from the 17 years I've had mine!
as said by a true Thumb owner!
23.
Ummm with the PMs I've had I think your predictions were true. Thanks again. N
It might be worth considering that you were potentially going to sell that via eBay for £150 MINUS your eBay & PayPal fees £225 might be a better deal than your original price but I would say that you need to be realistic with some of the offers you get in light of what you could have ended up with... it's your item and your call though. Good luck.
24. EVERY month! Do you leave them plugged in permanently? I realise that the LEDs may well eat batteries but surely the preamps don't. I give my basses a new 9volter each Xmas and I've never had one die on me. However, I can appreciate that for peace of mind; as often as you can afford makes sense.
25. Probably the right decision for you but I hope a fellow BCer wasn't looking to snipe that on eBay otherwise my advice to you just shot them in the foot
