1.
....and get a second hand SSI
...this!
 2. There's a Spector Euro (PJ) for sale on this very forum for £600 (or less if you collect)... in your budget and well worth a punt as you'd be able to resell for as much/more than it is at present (couple little fixes and it is worth £700).
 3.
By looks of it, that Thumb is earlier than a '92 model. You can identify the year of production by the last two digits of the serial number.
Dot inlays, separate battery compartment and non-recessed control cavity... agree!
 4. You're on to a loser in respect of a simple answer re neck sizes mate; Warwick necks vary all over the place from year/era and model. Generally... the earliest basses (80's) had the slimmest necks but one thing to note is that the main variation isn't in width it is in depth and profile. Best thing to do is go out and try a few. Unsure where in the UK you are but I have a few you can try (NE).
 5. Nope, nothing 'off the shelf' that I am aware of, which would be short scale.
 6.
Sad news: I've sold one of my S112s Happy news: Another TKS cab will be heading my way in a couple of weeks
Upgrading to the 2x12 to add to the 1x12 for those 'prestige' gigs?
 7. Folks have mentioned Warwick Streamer LXs but you could find a pukka used SSI for under £1k, which is frankly a steal.
 8. At a glance they don't look like bad prices but unsure as to where the country of origin will be (unless I missed it on his site).
 9. I sold a Warwick Streamer on ebay a while back with a very low start price and hadn't accounted for the fact that ebay fees had gone up to 10% + the buyer paid via paypal... it really REALLY hurt and I learned a valuable lesson.
 10.
Now on the 'Bay! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e8f18f70e
You do realise that if your bass sells on ebay for the start price you'll end up with about £500 net after ebay and paypal fees... just saying!
 11.
There is no moral obligation and I haven't broken any ebay rules, I sent a 'cancel sale' request via ebay (why would they give you this option if it was against their rules??) And it was accepted, I spoke to fiatcoupe (as per texts shown on my previous post) and he was fine with it. So I repeat, what is the problem??? I acted in line with ebay rules, I have been totally honest, the buyer accepted, we talked and were friendly, so please tell me what the deal is here?? Honestly, how have I broken rules? Everything has been done in line with rules and regulations. And more to the point the conversations I have shown on here between me and fiat have been friendly and amicable. So once more, what have I done wrong? The only person here who seems to actually understand these points is Ambient, and he left his posts before I even knew this thread existed!!! So please, tell me how I have broken rules or acted morally wrong when I have actes by the book written by ebay. If the seller agrees to a cancellation then that's the end of that surely? No broke rules or morality.
Wow, you really believe that don't you! If that is the case, I'll leave it there.
 12.
My question at this point is, can anyone add anything helpful or different to this thread?
Ah... best not apply that logic to all posts on this forum!
 13. 'IF' the OP was so happy (as you allude) to cancel the deal, why did he start this thread? Did you or did you not renege on a deal because you didn't get what you wanted? Not trying to make any enemies (little care if I do as I am simply commenting on a situation and giving my views... which is what you do on forums), you are however correct that there isn't anything further that you can add to explain this... facts are evident; as to putting it right, fulfil your moral obligation to sell the bass at the agreed (ebay) value.
 14.
However the input of fiatcoupe would be very welcome right now to confirm what I have said.
...and that will make what you did OK/go away? It's not life/death but that doesn't make it OK to dump on a deal, which is a matter of fact, whether the OP agrees or not. I'd not have just thrown my hands up and said 'OK we'll cancel the deal because you wanted to save on ebay fees and didn't put a reserve', in fact part of my feeling regarding this is because I've had it done to me on numerous occasions on ebay and it stinks! Last occasion was a few months and I told the seller to stick it and refused his online request to cancel the sale. Though this is just my view of the matter of general ebay matters and not directed at any person who may or may not be discussed in this thread.
 15.
The thread will remain open if this does become a discussion about the merits of a eBay seller not following through, and not a continued discussion about one particular incident that has since been resolved to the apparent satisfaction of both parties
Nope, I've just double checked and as of 'this moment in time' the OP has not stated that it is resolved to the satisfaction of both parties! However, I have a feeling the thread will be locked because your statement doesn't quite pan out Kev. How can anyone discuss the merits of an ebay seller not following through with a sale WHILST not discussing this incident, it's all about this incident!
 16. Read post #1... patently the OP was NOT happy at the time. Aside from whether the OP has changed his mind in the interim doesn't deflect from the fact that you committed to an ebay sale and then when you didn't get what you wanted you (politely) welched on a contract.
 17.
Anymore insults against each other here and this thread goes down the pan.
'insults' TBH I've heard worse when one of the parties wasn't a BCer... is it a case of differing standards because the person discussed is a BCer. I assume the thread will remain open if the merits of reneging on a deal are further discussed?
 18.
I understand that it is not a popular decision to bail out of a sale, but fiatcoupe was fine with it and we talked out the situation and ended on a friendly basis. Please take note from this and dont witch hunt until both sides are heard. I have a decent reputation on here, and don't really want it destroyed over a misunderstanding.
Sorry Russ but it isn't a case of witch-hunt or a misunderstanding, though 'scumbag' may be a strong term. However, you backing out of a legitimate ebay sale is wrong... period! You don't seem to be disputing this fact so the OP is well within his rights to have posted about his grievance. Whether the fact that you are a BCer has changed his view on the sale is between the two of you. Just saying!
 19. To be clear... ebay works whereby you list something and if it reaches a minimum amount you sell it to that person; any deviation from that is breaching a moral and legal contract. Simples! Now the minimum amount is set by the seller. Absolutely no other person decides that and it can work one of three ways; i) you set an amount that it sells for no more, no less - Buy It Now. ii) you set a reserve amount and if it doesn't reach this, you don't have to sell it. iii) you sell it with no reserve and you get as much as the highest bidder wishes to bid (as happened in this case). There is no witch-hunt... a buyer (or not as the case may be) came on here asking for 'help' or advise on what to do; the sellers 'honesty' about refusing to sell it has nothing to do with it and apart from anything else he could have been fishing for the buyer to revise his offer up over. Added to which he needs the buyers support to cancel the sale because if he doesn't then the seller doesn't get his fees back. Me personally, I'd pay through paypal, demand the money back if he doesn't sell it and then leave negative feedback. Sorry if this sounds harsh or offends the seller but it's a lesson in life! Circumvention of ebay's BIN or reserve fees is dishonest. Not selling to someone who went to the trouble of watching and bidding on an item with the expectation that they'd get said item if they won, is morally wrong.
 20.
Leaving negative feedback will actually achieve nothing. The OP still won't have the bass, at the moment he could probably still get it by contacting the seller. Why cause unnessessary bad feeling ?
The ebay system is built on feedback and it is the only means of establishing how trustworthy someone is; by not leaving 'appropriate' feedback you are defeating the whole point of feedback, 'not' leaving appropriate feedback achieves a lot less than the converse. TBH you can actually lawfully pursue someone to sell you an item that you have won on ebay, when you sign up to ebay it is part of the T&C, in theory no one ever does because it isn't worth the hassle. This is quite a cut and dry matter; the seller has stated categorically that he wanted more than he got (should have put a reserve on then) and as a result won't sell, ergo, breach of contract and deserves neg. It isn't like he has suddenly contracted a terminal illness or had a death in the family and as a result couldn't contact the buyer.
 21. Send ebay a copy of his correspondence and leave him negative. I realise that he may be a BCer and read this but it isn't any advice I wouldn't give whether he was or not. ebay may give him a warning for attempting to circumvent their fees or if this has happened before (how will they know if people don't report it) then he may get blocked from ebay; your negative feedback would be justified so long as you keep it appropriate and factual... then move on!
 22. It is quite confusing especially as the OP has a description lifted directly from Thomann which is a description of the Rock Bass Star Bass as seen here... http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_rb_starbass_5_black_hp.htm
 23. I own/have owned, a 'few' ( ) basses that cost quite a few thousand (I bought them used so didn't pay the eye-watering prices they were new). However, the 2 basses that I play the most, through choice, cost me less than £500. That is despite the fact that I have other basses that I own that would still cost you in excess of your £1000 budget. Why do I not sell the other more expensive basses... that's likely a whole new thread. Yes £1000 is a great budget... for TWO good basses!
 24.
Nice bass Is that Hugh Fearnly Whitingstall's reflection in the bass lol just kidding GLWTS
It has been commented upon on more than one occasion!
