Yeah, I have noticed an airier, hollower, and sometimes boomier tone when using very lightweight neo driven cabs. I thought it was just in my head.
BEWARE... the experts assure us there is no difference but 'some of us' think there is a conspiracy!

Is your cab so precious/rare that it needs to be retired... if it is a cab you are used to and like the tone then why change? You will be able to find quite a few cheaper, lighter cabs but the tone 'will' be noticeably different to what you are used to; in particular the variation in tone if going to Neo loaded cabs!

Martin bought and paid for my Zoom 'handy-recorder' nice and promptly. No probs here!
I've got Schaller or Schaller clones on all my basses and guitars. Never had a problem. They're all positioned so that the strap buttons sit in the cups, so the retaining button has no stress on it, it just keeps the button in the load-bearing cup. The only thing I have to do every now and again is a little nut tightening, though most of the clone straplocks have two nuts on each straplock, so the second one locks the first one.
Ditto. 25 years using them and the original strap fittings that I have on my strap at present have been transferred between two straps in that time (first one the leather wore through) and no failure as yet. As has been highlighted, I have the button on the bass resting in the cup... can't imagine why you'd do it any other way mind!
I always wondered about the reason for the vertical stacking of speaker cabs you see at big gigs, now I know (I think)...
I'm sure Bill will have a pick of one the best (early) examples of this by 'The GD'!

Roland GR20 + GK3 sensor/pick up Inc: all fittings for the GK3 + GR20 power supply It doesn't have the lead to connect pup to unit (I am still using it) but they are readily available on ebay/shops etc. Good working order, no issues. I am selling as I have no need for the GK3 as the Godin that I have has the pup ready fitted and I have an older GR33 that will do for me. All info available on-line as it is too long winded to list what it can do but it's a useful tool for recording ideas (battery powered so do it on the move) or recording direct from a desk.

I've fancied one of the CT basses for a long time. Would you say/know if the main tonal difference was the pup spacing or the centre block?

Can I / should I have a fretless bass fretted?
warwickhunt replied to Gamble's topic in Repairs and Technical
Fretting a fretless is perfectly straightforward and any 'luthier' will be able to do it (as opposed to local lads that can set-up basses but don't have the right tools to properly fret a neck). Bridges generally have enough adjustment (harder to get a bass down for fretless than up for fretted) and manufacturers will have one bridge for their models whether fretted or fretless. If it needs to be jiggled you can always find ways to do it (shims etc). Price as RATM said is about right with extra work adding to the cost. I'm North so know nobody in your neck of the woods. -

This very swiftly got my attention, especially as I spotted it was a NT and NOT an LX... then it dawned on me! I'm sure you'll have sussed from the other posters but at the volumes you are discussing, reproducing a low B is no big deal for a reasonable quality combo and tbh the speaker size is of relatively little import though you may find that of the 'budget' manufacturers that yes maybe slightly larger is better than a dinky 8" BUT it isn't a given that 15" (shyte) speaker will be better than 10" (average) speaker. £200 'used' will get you something with a bit of headroom which you may find yourself in need of sooner than you think and they all come with the special feature of a VOLUME control which goes down as well as up... not that guitarists realise this!

64 Jazz - No matter how many times...
warwickhunt replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Oddly enough it is withdrawn and not the usual pulled by ebay (which you can't access and they disappear completely). It looks like the account holder that was hacked is back on the game and spotted it. It'll be back up again soon though. -
Washburn AB series are good and in your budget used. I've owned the more expensive AB40 but actually prefer the AB20 that I have now.
