[/quote] Interestingly, I've recently snagged a 575 (may well be my actual bass that I bought new in the 80's) and I was shocked when I compared the output to my Warwicks. I suppose it shouldn't be such a shock and it's like comparing apples and oranges! I'm not going to change the electronics, I'll just need to get used to boosting the amp input.

Another vote for visiting Halfords or the like; boxes are solid and free! Pretty sure that businesses 'pay' to have cardboard/rubbish taken away (Halfords inc'), so this new policy sounds like fleecing to me.

I'd need some 'serious' proof it was owned by JB before I paid a tenth of that figure. I see that it isn't a Thumb bass (which might fool idiots as JB did play Thumb basses) and the seller will give you a photo of Jack's collection... but not with this bass I'd guess!

I have a Washburn AB20 which I used to use (amplified) with my 'acoustic' band and it is only of aesthetic benefit; I now play an electric bass live... or even in a house rehearsal. :/

I used to work in cassette duplication (yes I'm that old) and we had reference cassette/amp systems that were left on 24hrs a day week in week out, year after year and I can't recall one failure. Obviously tape heads and belts wore out (we replaced them) but the amps never missed a beat.

Also the whole Germany/Japan 90/91 thing is such a grey area I'd not be swayed by where this 'might' have been produced but just judge it by how it plays. Necks are nice and slim not like the later 90's chunky ones. Oh and the rear pup solo is close to useless... don't let that put you off; the pair work blended or the neck pup solo is good. I own one and kept this over the far more expensive NT Pro I.

Used to cover 'In the meantime' when RA was first released... still think we were the only band in the North/NE to cover this back then and it always went down a storm!

It'll not be an issue, just be sure that the extra mass of the string doesn't rise to far up the tuner shaft and risk the string not seating fully in the nut.

[/quote] Hmmm a quick check and I've been using Thunderfunk heads (initially the 550 now the 750) for 9 years. The fact that I've been prepared to try/buy other brands inc multiple Class D amps would probably indicate that I'm qualified to discuss what 'I' hear and note about the amps I've tried.

Unsurprisingly I concur with my fellow BCers and I would also suggest the Thunderfunk (I own one NOT for sale) or Handbox; trialled and gigged one... came close to buying one!

Playing with 4 different bands this month (some deps, some my own band) which has me learning/remembering a total of 83 'different' songs... it does get to a point where one or two of them (especially the non-riff orientated, repetitive ones) just won't stick in my head. However, a gig is the quickest way to focus the mind and it'll be alright on the night.

Odd they have gone 2.7 instead of 5.3 and a shame it is the usual design of, 'cram as many drivers into the smallest surface baffle of a 19" wide cab'! I for one would have preferred to lose a few inches off width and had vertical alignment with maybe a bit more depth. ...but that's just me!

I had a 'W' Streamer refinished that had a lacquer finish and nitromors and other specialist (non-commercial) strippers wouldn't touch the finish. This work was done by a pro and the only means to get it off was hand sanding. Others on the Warwick forum have had similar tales so it isn't unique to my bass. I'm not saying that the OP is the same finish but I'd not assume that the finish will come off as easy as it might on other basses.
