1.
Quite true. You've read the fish pun thread then? Sometimes I don't know what keeps me coming back here. 2 x 10 or 4 x 10? Give me a break!
Hey! I contributed to that and 10/10/10/10 all vertical makes more sense than 10/10+10/10... that didn't pan out right! :/
2.
I don't think the fact that you have a new amp is of interest to anybody. Why should it be? Your thoughts once you've tried it out could be though.
To be fair stevie, there is a thread with 490 THOUSAND BCers showing or discussing what there amp/cab/rig is... now that could be questioned!
3.
What exactly was the point of that post?
Highlighting a class D that makes up for what many lack... I need to try one then! You could equally ask what's the point of 90% of the posts on BC?
4.
Two 2x10s, every time. Simply because I stack them vertically which lets me hear them far better - a 4x10 hits the back of my knees.
Vertical 4x10 for me as well, makes absolute sense!
5. I have a feeling you can't refuse to accept paypal... though if it is collection only, that may be an exception. Just don't take a paypal payment then let them collect or to organise their own courier; if having it couriered 'you' need to have the proof it was dispatched. The low bid matter is straightforward - if you have set the start bid at £50 then no bid below £50 will be accepted, any bid above that will be though.
6. Collection/Delivery - Have you got this nailed down tight? If it is an auction and not a BIN then people can make silly low bids and they will be accepted automatically, likely no decent bids to the last minute (assuming you started the opening bid low). Reserve - If it isn't met, it can be relisted after any tweaks you might want to make.
7. Sounds on the face of it like a great idea but it potentially means that it could cost each of us £25 for me to try it and though I appreciate the offer, £25 is too much of a gamble.
8. Heck of a hike to Northumberland for me to try before I buy!
9. All the good basses are always 'darn sarf'!
10. Lucky to get the return postage paid for! The likes of paypal demand the buyer return the item at their cost before they refund (sadly recent 1st hand experience), even if an item is not as described or damaged!
11. Probably good to get a mod to move this to the 'wanted' section.
12. Ned S worked with John Bolin a few years back and produced what would count as the forerunner to this Radius Wav; light, superb balance and even though it is headed, the 'horn extension' foreshortens the 34" scale neck... even the body shape is a direct take on the Bolin. Ned is a bit of a whizz mind!
13. Where does it say 11.5lb?
14. I suppose there's a sliding scale whereby if 'everything' is as it was when manufactured and nothing has been swapped out even for OEM parts then that is the pinnacle, after which any replacement affects value, gradually shedding parts that you'd anticipate might wear out, till the point where you have refinished/modded/replaced main instrument parts and the value is significantly affected. There will come a point where replacing parts might make something a better player/more useable and the value might be slightly higher than if it were stock but unuseable.
15. When you say 'unique' does that mean it is a different neck from other similar 2tsb RW basses or is it a replacement neck?
16.
A private sale is exactly that; a private sale. There is no obligation on the part of the seller to reveal who the buyer was, and it's not considered good form to enquire, generally. A buyer usually relies on the good faith of the seller to respect that privacy, including the terms of the sale. It's not written in stone; just a question of etiquette, as suggested in the title of this topic.
IYHO A 'private sale' can mean as you describe but it also applies to a non-commercial sale. I personally don't think it's bad form/etiquette to make an enquiry; the seller is within his rights to say 'No' but equally I might say "I'll contact the buyer and let him know". It's not unheard of for buyers to fall out of favour with basses as soon as they get them, especially if you can't try before you buy. I see no breach of etiquette implied or otherwise.
17.
Cheers for all the advice! Definitely going via interparcel for this one!
Good choice.
Excuse my ignorance as i've never had to deal with couriers before but will the shipping of my bass be tracked and signed for to ensure I don't get scammed by the other party, I.e: he claims he hasn't received it, etc...
How are you being paid? Read up on the whole paypal thing if that is the method!
18. I use finger(s), pick, thumb, drumstick... whatever it takes and anyone who says you 'must' use one OR the other is a fool!
19. Lush when I played it today and I don't even like 5 strings!
20. The fret buzz is a process of elimination and something we could all likely throw ideas at but most have been discussed. Low rear pup output; I think part of this depends on your expectation. I've never found the rear pup on any PJ set to be 'powerful' in comparison to the neck unit, even when adjusted correctly but MEC do need to be adjusted quite close to the strings. Ideally you need to get another SSI and do an A/B (too far from me). I'm no whizz with the electronics side but can you not get an imbalance in outputs from a pan pot if the value of the pot isn't correct, are the pots original or could one be failing?
21. We'll pop round to the Geordie guys house if you like!
22.
PRICE DROP PRICE DROP £750------This great bass has served me well over the years and apart from a couple of Dings its in very good nick. It has the original bridge with the padded mufflers. Has been recently set up by my luthier and new strings fitted. The bass weighs 8.2Lbs Lovely instrument to play with nice action. The tone is beautiful and the colour is beautiful.
I'm confused... when I messaged you for an accurate weight, you said that it was 7lb 5oz!
23.
I'd say someone would get a great set-up for £800.... but like all these things???
Just saw a mint GS212 sell down the road from me last week at £350 and the month before an AG500sc went for less than £350... so that's a great set-up for £700!
24. Easiest thing to get an accurate true value is do a search through the BC sales section. Problem with asking an open question,is that someone thinking of buying will say less than the true value (after all they want it cheap), folks who have them or looking to sell, will want to say more than market value! :/ The truth is that they are worth what someone is prepared to pay.
25. Never ceases to amaze me!
