1982 Talas - Sink your teeth into that... my jaw dropped when I heard it. However, I can appreciate how some folks find his tone a bit grating; saying that when you hear it (and his legendary licks/tricks) you know it is him - signature tone!

Much more 'actual' volume... no but it will 'seem' a lot louder and the cab being elevated will help you hear it better, magnifying the 'loudness' effect.

I've never gotten less than the bassist I'm depping for but did once get a bit extra as I pulled the band out of the cacka when their bassist dropped them in it at the very last minute (3hrs notice and obvs no rehearsal). If I was offered less I'd feel quite insulted.

I dep fairly regular and as a result I'd have taken the path of least resistance and do the single remaining date... so long as you haven't turned other work down However, I'd also make note (I use a Google Calendar) and if they do something similar in the future, I'd politely point out that you are setting aside dates/time for them (could be that you had wanted to do something socially) but this seems to be recurring and in future you'll not be able to help. Tis is of course assuming they aren't just mates! I've had to do this with a band as I've gone out of my way to learn material only to be told I'm not needed (generally bassist plans change and can now do gigs)... twice.

This wasn't for a bass btw and the value was less than £100 (had it been a bass worth a bit I'd have jumped in the car). Not worth spending more in diesel and time than the sum is worth but I have a long memory and at some point this year I'm sure to be visiting/passing near him and I'll pop in and say 'Hi' or leave a card saying I visited.

BTW Police couldn't act. very sympathetic but as they pointed out, it is the kind of crime that is almost impossible to prove and though details were taken it isn't viable (money/resources) to try and bring a prosecution.
