I received a PP payment for an item and next day the buyer politely messaged to say he could book a courier through work a lot cheaper than any other way. All plausible, so I agreed and he had the parcel collected next day; 7-10 days later he asked ebay/PP for a refund as I hadn't delivered... he got a refund, I got stiffed!

Buyer pays by paypal, collects in person/gets a courier/friend to collect (buyer books the courier so seller has no proof of courier booking). THEN buyer contacts ebay and says item hasn't been delivered, seller can't provide proof item was posted (part of T&C) and photos of a courier/family member could be for anything (or even staged by unscrupulous seller), so ebay/paypal refund. I speak from sad personal experience!

    Buyer pays by PayPal... YOU are responsible! Regardless of who packed it, paid for the courier, booked it; YOU will lose the fight and they will get a refund from PayPal if it is lost, damaged, 'claimed' as lost! Buyer pays by bank transfer etc... THEY are responsible! As you can't get a chargeback from anyone (assuming they don't pay by credit card), they can claim back from the courier in any of the above events. IMHO that is the simplest way to look at it and the grey areas will still fall into those two scenario.

    Getting back my old Warwick 'Infinette'! Got an offer too good to refuse (I was out of work at the time) so I sold it; I've got an identical bass but it is 1lb heavier... no good for a dodgy shoulder!

    I'm seeing/doing both sides of this. Band A - One gig in a year and an average of one rehearsal per week. Band B - Initially meant to be a dep, 0 rehearsals and yet I'm now full time bassist and 4 gigs under the belt in 2 weeks! I find the 'B' option to be more fun and less onerous (not that 'A' isn't enjoyable), I get a text saying track x y or z is new for next gig and the expectation is that all band members will know it!

    The amp has a volume control on it right... It'll be fine! Added to which don't make the assumption that the amp shouldn't exceed the cab, it is an incorrect assumption.

    Watch if you accept an offer on ebay; iirc the 'total' in fees if someone pays by paypal is 15%. Even 15% on your listing fee of £3000 = £2550 cleared for you.
