As suggested, I’ve connected the pickup cavity with the control cavity. I did this using a length of copper shielding tape folded into a narrow strip which I fed through the connecting hole and then taped to the cavity walls with more copper tape. I hope this method is OK? As the pickups are attached to a backing plate with the ground wires soldered to it (see pic), can you confirm that this will be sufficient given that the ground wire will also be connected to the wiring loom and therefore to the bridge? I’m thinking that there doesn’t need to be a second ground connection in the control cavity itself now that the two cavities are connected and the grounded pickup plate is in direct contact with the shielding in the pickup cavity.

I’ve always loved how Telecaster guitars look and this captures the look perfectly. Really beautiful. How did the pickup turn out?

I’ve just bought a set of these for my new build. I’ve yet to try them but, based on comments from several BCers, hopefully they’ll be perfect for the job.

For me the iconic bass of my era is JJ Burnell’s black/black/maple Precision. His later Shuker signature bass is something to aspire to, albeit as rare as hen’s teeth.

That sounds like the sort of stuff I’d be into. It’s great that the young ‘uns are into it too.

😲 presumably the shipping cost is for someone to personally hand deliver it after flying first class to get to wherever it ends up?

Holes drilled and cavities shielded, all ready for final assembly. Unfortunately I’m going to be away for a few days now so it’ll have to wait until I’m back next week. Nearly there now.

I cut the control plate from the mirrored pick guard yesterday. It’s really hard to get the bevelled edge right and it needs a bit more filing around the curve. It’s not as good as a proper metal plate but it’s getting there. I also double and triple checked the bridge position and marked the hole centres with a bradawl along with the holes for the control plate. I’m pretty happy with the positioning now. I just need to actually drill the holes now but I must make sure I use the right sized drill bit.

Nice bass and it’s great that your wife is helping to feed your GAS. Which reminds me that there is a formula to determine how many bases you should own. I got this from another GAS inflicted forum but it applies equally here: - The correct number of basses to own is n+1. While the minimum number of basses one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where n is the number of basses currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of basses owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Andreas Vollenweider uses electric harp and the bass strings sound amazing.

Funny enough I have a black p-bass that had a tortoiseshell pick guard that I swapped for a black one, it looks so much classier 😂😂😂

I’ve got a new bone nut to fit later but for now this is a rough repair of the existing nut using the super glue trick mentioned earlier. With a bit more filling and tidying up it should be good enough to do a basic set up when everything else is done.

Dodgy tuner placement - now where have I seen that before? 🤔
