Is there any chance that the “Mark Site Read” and “Sign Out” menu options could be repositioned or spaced further apart? I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve accidentally signed out when I meant to mark the site read.

It would be worth a quick check of the relief before you adjust it by holding the E string down at the first and last frets. There should be a very slight gap at the 7th/8th frets. However, if it changed suddenly then it might be indicative of other issues. Someone with more experience may be able to comment.

Sounds like not enough relief in the neck. Have you changed the strings for a lighter gauge? Slackening the truss rod a touch may help.

Limited signal from an instrument cable.

Ha! You beat me to it. Although I’m suggesting a foot rather than a couple of inches. 😉 -

When I was gigging many eons ago we assumed any cable problems were likely to be caused by issues near to the plugs due to the increased flexing at those points. A possible solution is to chop a foot off one end and re-solder the plug, try it again and if still an issue, chop a foot off the other end. After that chop the cable in half with a chance of possibly saving half of it. -
It’s never occurred to me to check what was number 1 when I was born. Just looked it up and it turns out it was Wonderful Land by The Shadows. Not too bad and certainly better than if I’d been born 10 days later when it was Nut Rocker by B. Bumble and The Stingers! 😂

My MIA P bass is 117cm long (including the strap button) and 32.5cm wide. I also have a non-fender Telecaster style guitar which is 20cm shorter but the body width is the same as the bass. I think a Jazz bass, allowing for the offset body is a couple of centimetres longer than the P bass. Based on your measurements I would say the case will fit a P bass.

What makes a Precision Bass, a Precision Bass?
Velarian replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Probably because I was being deliberately obtuse in answering the question literally rather than in the spirit it was intended. It was supposed to be tongue in cheek. 😉 -

A contradiction in terms. -

Dare I say frets? -
Snap! I got this quite recently and I too am no guitarist. I can just about strum three chords but I plan on learning a fourth soon. 😂 For the money you can’t go wrong and it’s worth a punt just to mess about on.

I swear I’ll never fly Ryanair again. The last time, when checking in for the return flight the check-in clerk says “are you not flying with baggage today” despite standing there with two bloody big suitcases. “Yes” I said, the same bags we flew out with. “Well you’ve not paid for them”. “Must have, I paid for them when I booked, otherwise I wouldn’t have them now!” “No you haven’t, that will be €100 please” 👿

Stuart Adamson / The Skids / Big Country
Velarian replied to skankdelvar's topic in General Discussion
Yes, when I was checking some facts I read about that too. Sadly it appears that it may have been some Stranglers fans who were responsible. ☹️ -

I think you’re right, that rings a bell now you mention it. Apart from Big Country being awesome, my only other recollection of that day is that was clear blue skies and scorching sunshine. 😎 -
You can get a new HB in budget. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pj_75ow_vintage.htm

I saw them at Reading festival in 1983. The Stranglers were headlining and BC were on just before them. They blew the Stranglers away IMHO and I’m a Stranglers fan! I saw them again a good few years later in a side tent at the Heineken festival in Leeds and I can honestly say it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. The band were really enjoying themselves and they just kept going, encore after encore. Brilliant. -

I’ve just spotted the flaw with that instrument. There’s no fretless bass so it won’t be any good for Jazz. -

Vintage 70's bass guitar - worth getting it fixed?
Velarian replied to dajaphonics's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I’ll ponder it when I’ve had a couple of coffees, after I’ve done the daily Nerdle; which is about as taxing as maths gets for me these days. 😊 -

I was off school the day they did algebra. 😉
