  1. Wireless amp sim pedal to DI trampette
  2. I can't stand the rap that is of the above type. However, as others have said, that is just one part of the rap genre (unfortunately the best known)…… the remainder contains a whole lot of decent stuff - to my ears.
  3. I'd go for that on looks. Outside my normal price range.... it would have to play/sound pretty good too to even get a look in!
  4. Another chance to share this then:
  5. I can imagine a situation where you're a songwriter/Guitarist(or bassist) in a band and can sing the songs just how you like it.....…. except for the odd pitching issue. One option - get a singer into the band and tell them they won't write songs and have to sing it your way - a tough ask. And then watch them get all the limelight. Or sing it yourself and wack on a little bit of autotune. I know which I'd go for.
  6. Just take this opportunity to mention another Portishead off-shoot..... Geoff Barrows' other band: Beak. I guess Krautrock is the nearest reference point.
  7. BBC are currently showing the drama "The Pursuit of Love"... based on the novel by Nancy Mitford. The music was pretty cool, so have downloaded the soundtrack podcast from BBC sounds, and it's very good mix: Here's the link BBC Radio Mixes - TV Soundtracks, The Pursuit of Love, Big tunes from our favourite new show - The Pursuit of Love And here's the track list:
  8. I get what you are saying. It often annoys me when people say they listen to "anything". It's ambiguous... could mean they are a music enthusiast with a thirst for different styles, or it could mean they are indifferent to music. It's also not very informative............ tell me a couple of core genres to give the 'centre' and a few more to tell me the breadth. On the other hand if you listen exclusively to grindcore then I'm happy with that too. I sometimes have to hire a car for work, and the person on the desk may ask what model car I want. I reply "anything", because I don't care about cars.
  9. Eclectic but selective. I like stuff from a wide variety of genres, but I'm picky - only like the bits which work for me! I've got more and more open as I get older , including open to more extremity. When I first started listening to music I was passionate, but not open. Now the reason I don't get into more genres is purely practical - I don't have the time or energy to follow up every lead! Get to the back of the queue Mongolian throat music😀.
  10. If you use charts to learn/rehearse the song then gradually wean yourself off the chart before that song goes to gig. I start with a 'full' chart... then a summarized version, then no chart at all. I don't take any charts on stage, but I do allow a few 'cheats' on the set list.... the left half of the A4 for the song titles, the right half for some notes on two or three songs which I have a mental block on.
  11. Or glare at the guitarist ........as if it was their mistake!
  12. BBC four Sunday Night 9pm: a new Delia Derbyshire doc. In case anyone doesn't know Delia, she is an early pioneer of electronic music... best know for her work with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and creating the ground-breaking Dr Who theme music. Armed only with a tapes and razor blades.....no samplers in thoose days!
  13. Great story - here’s to the next ten years!
  14. I went to the presonus website (logged into my account) but those products are not listed. I might be doing something wrong.... or could it be that it's only available to to Prime rather than Artist users?
  15. No - thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a try 👍
  16. So to the negatives. 1 - The GUI on studio 5 fits poorly to the screen. For example th list of recent songs in the opening screen has fallen off the left hand side. 2 - Studio 5 version of Ampire comes with only one actual amp, but a few Cabs and the same pedals as the otehr versions. So I've lost about 15-20 amps. Or maybe I'll go for that Fender pack someone here was mentioning ..........
  17. @Dad3353 - thanks for the analysis! It was an interesting read 👍
  18. Wow, that's one hell of a signal chain! My Bloody Valentine tribute act perhaps😀?
  19. The biggest w@nker on BC? - This calls for a poll!
  20. Related to bass and almost to an actual sport, I once saw my bass falling over at the other side of the room (leant against an amp ) and ran across the room to catch it before it hit the floor. I didn't think anything of it, but got some amazed comments from the other in the room.
  21. When I started out in the early 80's I (and the people in my musical circle) only had one word to cover the whole lot - fuzz. You had a fuzz box, and could play a guitar clean or fuzzy. After a while I learnt the terms distortion and overdrive.... pretty much with the meanings mentioned by other posters.
  22. Here goes. It was the entry for the Sumo picture. I deliberately didn't change anything, so I could get a good comparison. I just removed all effects, EQ etc and sent Andy the stems. Plus the original mix. Guitar and bass sent with and without the amp simulation. Cymbals shared a track. Andy asked if it was OK to change drum sounds, amp sounds etc and I said do what you think. He also offered to fix some timing issues in the vocal... another yes! I was happy wit the first mix so we left it here. Here the original then Erax. Original: Erax Remix:
  23. Out of interest, how do you do that? I'm guessing open notes.......
  24. I recently purchased Akai mini play..... it's a small MIDI controller with 25 mini keys , but also has a bunch of built-in sounds. So no faffing around with laptops. I plan to try it in my Punk/New wave covers band (the other don't know yet!) to play simplified lines for songs which have keyboard e.g. Pump It Up. However it will not be played instead of bass..... we are gtr/gtr/bass/drums ... the keyboard will played by a guitarist, or a guitarist will switch to bass for that song. It's a good option if you want a single keyboard to do live work and home recording. Not sure if the bass sounds are good enough for what you want... I'm guessing not, I can find two patches called Synth Bass 1 and 2.
