True.... but IMO Primal Scream at least rip off a different band (or at least plunder a different genre) on each album . A "record collection" band. As long as there's a genre that Bobby Gillespie likes and hasn't ripped yet, the band can continue!

The first three Spandau singles were pretty original sounding…. I never knew they had ‘help’ though. Not keen on anything afterwards. Not sure how if I rate Martin as a player though…… but that’s probably because I’m jealous that he was recruited and trained on bass on the basis of his good looks😃.

Luxury item for me would definitely be a musical instrument of some kind. I'm going for an acoustic guitar.... amongst other things I fancy leaning Piedmont Blues and Ragtime picking styles. I would however need some instructional materials, I'd never figure it out myself!

I'm from Luton, and it wasn't always so. Pretty good scene once upon a time. Now though, I think you are right. Pity for such a large town ☹️. My band use to use London Road three or so years ago, and recorded a demo there. Now we rehearse somewhere more central for the whole band (Fenny Stratford). I've used Terry Chapman for a guitar repair. No complaints there either. Good luck with the relocation musically and otherwise!

Choosing the octobass and then finding out it won’t get you off the island. Must be a similar feeling to choosing to be a bass player and then finding out it won’t get you the girls/boys😃!

I must admit never thought about that before….. people who can’t stop biting them, yes! However I doubt there’s many here who can bite their toenails😃.

Are we talking cool bass players? Bolder may have been a decent enough player, but in that pic he looks very much like he’s wearing that outfit against his will!

I like a bit of busking too👍. I can accept if it’s a bit short on talent (within reason)….. but busking to a backing track is a no-no for me.

Lol- I just read a bit of it. A debate on wether matches vs lighter effects taste, a reference to ‘headroom’ , people returning to pipe (bass) after a defection to cigars ( as you say, guitar)!

I guess they are made from different woods. Which may effect the flavour….. or not. Probably a hot topic on Pipechat!😃
