  1. A slap of bass players ( collective noun, usually derogatory)
  2. Yes - tuner>chorus>amp (real or simulated) is the general way. Especially don’t feed a chorused signal into the tuner.... makes it harder for the tuner to recognise the pitch.
  3. I'm really offended by that video......... I mean, come on, a keytar?😉
  4. I'm a 'budget gear' kind of a player, and lockdown hasn't changed that. Maybe one day I'll indulge myself to a bit of expensive or posh gear, but no idea what the trigger would be.
  5. Depends a bit on whether it's my dream home or our dream home ........ If it's our dream home then would have one room dedicated to music, with all my guitars, amps and recording equipment.....plus a drum kit. If it's my dream home then the same plus a guitar and bass and small amp in the living room.
  6. Still on the Doors....... in some cases, for sure the first album, (and for sure not for Jerry Scheff )the bassist simply doubled the keyboard bass. IMO this gave a great feel to the first Album...... strange repetitive left-hand lines going on which a real bass player probably would not have played.
  7. Starting this thread as a dedicated thread for the topic raised in the "three piece' thread. So you're in a 3 piece, and when the guitarist switches from rhythm to lead you feel that the song goes 'empty'. What can you do? Opinions welcome from "Embrace the Space" comments to tech tips etc.
  8. The Fall covered Lee Perry - Kimble: - BBC session.
  9. There's some opinion on that question here, along with some music recommendations: Krautrock - General Discussion - Basschat
  10. Good topic for a new thread @NHM - I may start it if you don't want to. Might even have been one before........
  11. Sounds like someone needs to get in touch with their 'bonkers' side 😉!
  12. black midi's new album. Got it after hearing a daytime session on BBC 6music (Thursday at 12 noon if you want to find it on BBC sounds) Here's the lead single, "John L"
  13. Serious answer............. If it was a 3 piece to play some of my punkier/new-wavier stuff then I'd like a non-Gibson like a Jaguar though a nicely overdriven valve combo. Boost pedal for solo/lead. Otherwise maybe it could be to play some more experimental, rhythmically-driven stuff where the guitarist would play some sharp, often sparse, imaginative, echo-ey stuff with a Tele, clean channel amp like Peavy Bandit and a reasonable pedal board for echo and tremelo etc.
  14. There’s loads, but I’ll pick one example because one member has featured in a doc I’m watcthing. Throbbing Gristle. They sound interesting and liked the odd bit I’ve heard, but never got around to properly checking them out.
  15. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 2017 concert. Sky Arts Sunday 11pm
  16. Sound person. And depending if they do a good job or not..... hero or villain .
  17. Yeah, if guitarists are so great how come nearly half of them are below average?
  18. Great video, so much better than someone slapping the hell out of a bass! I will go for the light blue with orange stripes please.
  19. I don't get the Lebowski reference either...... However because heard Hotel California and Bad Moon Rising at too many open mics and folk circles I don't listen to either band I'm going neither. But at a guess I reckon CCR would more up my street.
  20. The Cramps were pretty good.... Lux Interior Poison Ivy Nick Knox Kid Congo Powers
  21. I once won a “who can think of the best tribute band name” chat with some band mates (long time ago when tribs were much rarer) with..... ...... Status No!
  22. One of my faves (name and player): Jah Wobble
  23. And even The Big Figure. And Sparko.
