  1. @JGTay Love the fretboard... waiting for the next instalment...
  2. The whole 9 yards... or whatever the scale length is...
  3. And stay away from the DOI... you'll lose your mind!.. Welcome!
  4. Wire or link the pup hot direct to the socket ...By pass the controls? Fingers crossed its a pot and not pup...
  5. As you say could be the heat has got to 8t, maybe expanded the pot, no longer making contact... and not the pickup windings? Both Passive i presume not the heat got to a battery. Move em away... bit of luck and fingers crossed all will be fine later... mine are in a rack by the patio window, curtain drawn, not a lot else can be done, no more room...
  6. Got a multimeter? Stick a lead in and measure continuity and/or resistance between tip n sleeve. Does it change when ya turn the vol pot...
  7. Not a Bass Solo (Or Drum Solo) Fan. A nice Flourish of a Middle 8 is a lot more reserved and stylish.. I'm thinking Burke Shelly or Lemmy...
  8. where are you bass-ed! If ya a little uncomfortable going in to a music shop and giving one a go, i'm sure there is a basschatter local who will lend a hand(!) If ya local to me (Orpington/Bromley) I'd be happy to pop by with a bass for you to have a try... Unfortunatly it does mean you will have to miss out on the Heavy Metal Horns 'm' hand gesture when playing open strings... So will have to do with the middle finger or wombler sign, like driving... - WOMBLER Ha Ha ...
  9. Wonder if there is a similar post on BanjoChat... I only have the 10 normal fingers... recommend me a Banjo...
  10. I'd go Right Handed as the 'Motor Factor' of being right handed must be easier than getting the other hand to do as its told... You could go Short Scale 28.6" - rather than the std 34" (Check oiut the 'Short Scale' Thread) to reduce the stretch on the left at the lower end... Ibanex Mikro? or any of the Shorty P's Squier or Harley Benton etc... But If you got fair normal size mits a std 34" scale might be fine... just move about a bit more... One Finger Per Fret may be OK for Guitar and a Pinky needed Full Std Chords... but i can't do it down the bottom end... and some times ya pinky may not have enough ooomph to hold the thick strings when learning... But a Bass is for 'Free Thinkers' anyway! You have prolly worked around the issue with other things... Just jump in and go for it!
  11. I've 2x GSR200 and a SR600... Yep the SR300 is nice... All about that neck! Body is a bonus...
  12. What compressor is best for my susaphone?
  13. I think Guitars will preety much always be about... as for bass may be repalced by the Devil's Left Hand... I'm not up with the DAW type stuff, but for studio / bedroom bourne music seems a controller can do most things, then add vocals, mublings, vague attempt at monotone rambling rhyming.. what ever is the latest, then add a bit of real guitar, or sample someone elses if thats what ya want. As for live... K'bds right paw keeps the numbers down. [Edit: Meant Left...] So maybe a dying art like a harmonica or saxaphone player... might get to the 'Ohhh come and see this band, they have a real bass player!'
  14. That would be the pickup... 🤣
  15. When you say Hand Wound... i presume wound on a foot operated winding machine, with a counter... like transformers, chokes etc used to be done... back in the day... rather than fingers round a bobbin and counting in ya head or out loud and anoyingthe person next to you Did a bit of transformer winding in my apprentiship back in the 80's.. oh to have access to all that kit now... I'd be Custom winding P Pickups and Valve Amps trannys
  16. Nice... have you swapped out the squeaky phospher bronze or rounds for Flats? I loves my Harley Benton HBO-850...
  17. Loves a bit of Black Uhuru... May I add Ini Kamoze... 'Statement' and 'Shocking Out' for some more Robbie Shakespear and Danny Thompson Goodness...
