  1. I agree to some extent, but not to the extent of absolute silence which some people seem to expect or feel entitled to. Complaining about small amounts of noise is just as selfish as making excessive amounts.
  2. Alright Now is an excellent song. This doesn't mean you have to like it, but to deny its quality stinks of musical snobbery (on BassChat? Surely not)
  3. And probably that of the bass player as well!
  4. "Sand" blast it and then paint it. (Don't use actual sand unless fully masked up and outside - free silcates!)
  5. Isn't this a case of the pick guard doing exactly what it was designed (and named) for?
  6. Well, you cannot go round blaming Brexit for everything, willy nilly. I am currently in Australia and they are saying that prices have gone up 20% post covid: Obviously due to Brexit. The pound dropped around 10% against the dollar last year, largely due to Trussgate. But, even so, how does that explain the reported current increase in bass prices? Answer: It doesn't. Brexit has happened, and is unlikely to be reversed anytime so, whether we like it or not, it's pointless going on whinging about it and blaming it for things that it blatantly isn't responsible for. There are enough things it has caused, but it's still pointless moaning about it. It'll just do your head in (well mine anyway).
  7. I've not had a problem with fret wear since I had the depleted Uranium ones fitted.
  8. My Gawd, you've worn your frets completely away.
  9. Rounds or flats, it will still sound like a bass guitar.
  10. Actually the vinyls are now being superceded by acetates at 78rpm. They just have so much more atmosphere about them, especially once they've been played a few times.
  11. Personal opinion only, but my God those are ugly basses.
  12. At one time the band "Family" included two twin necks: Charlie Whitney on 6 string/12 string, and John Weider on 4 string bass/6 string guitar.
  13. I have both a US and a Mexican Stu Hamm Urge Mk 1. Puely because of the 32" scale. The US one is particularly beatiful, but I've mostly moved to 5 strings now.
  14. Are you sure that it is more 'oomph' you need rather than 'Heft'. Very different things.
  15. Definitely the last one for me.
  16. Even when the adhesive is conductive I tend run a bit of solder along the joints. Aluminium works as long as you can ensure a good earth connection to it, and between sections. The disadvantage is that it oxidises with a non conductive layer, and, whether oxidised or not, it's difficult to solder.
  17. Surely, if you only need 2 and he needed 4 than that makes you twice as good as him. No?
  18. For me: Lazy. Partly because we used to play it in a band I was in (which also did SOTW). EDIT: Just noticed how old this thread is, and that I have already nominated Lazy - Back in 2017!!
  19. I think I'll wait for the graphene based GR cabinets to come out, and until GR spell "Fibre" properly.
  20. I love the music. I also love the way that it gets more and more surreal as the film progresses.
  21. It's such a shame that the Demo Video doesn't show it being played as a bass.
  22. I love Colin Hodginson, but this really doesn't do it for me. Way too fast for one thing, but possibly this technique doesn't work if slowed down?
