This is a traditional Laney 15", 100 Watts combo. First the bad news: No light weight speaker, no Class D amplifier, so it comes in as 30Kg (and is quite big). (But slightly lighter than the Marshall B150 that I am listing) It has a gouge in the tolex near the left hand side handle. Apart from that if it is all positive. This is fully functional (just checked it) and would be ideal for "fixed" installation such as a studio or practice room, as a fixed backline in a pub or something, or for a younger man than I now am!. Not used this much and only bought it (rashly) because it was available This is actually quite a different beast to the Marshall B150 that I am also listing (separate thread). Amp is 100 Watts into 4 ohms. Amp has socket for additional speaker, so possibly internal speaker is 8 ohm. I'm not sure. Ported Cabinet. All solid state (no valve preamp) Remotely selectable Pre Shape. NO Classic Bass & Treble controls, but ... Remotely selectable 10 Band Graphic EQ with in/out volume adjustment. Dual band (?) compressor Switchable limiter Switchable noise gate Manual, such as it is, attached. Due to its weight: COLLECTION ONLY, but that gives you the chance to try it out. This is a traditional Marshall 15", 150 Watts combo. This is the earlier British built B150, not the later foreign built MB150 First the bad news: No light weight speaker, no Class D amplifier, so it comes in as 35Kg (and is quite big). Exterior is a bit battered, but nothing major. Apart from that if it is all positive. This is fully functional (just checked it) and would be ideal for "fixed" installation such as a studio or practice room, as a fixed backline in a pub or something, or for a younger man than I now am!. This served me well as my main stage amp for many years, and was the first time I experienced actual trouser flapping! Sealed cabinet which has since been stuffed (by me) with wadding. Side handles were added by me due to the weight. 150 (Marshall) Watts as it stands, with no possibility for extension cabs. To me the main feature of this combo is that it has a real valve pre-amp, which makes a really noticable difference to the tone - so much so that the blend knob (between valve & SS) is actually useful. Not like some modern units with valve pre amps that seem to make bugger all difference. Inputs for Active & Passive basses. SS/Valve Blend control Bass and treble controls 7 Band Graphic EQ Deep and Bright Buttons Switchable limiter In-built compressor NO remote control possibillities however. Attached manual details the controls. Note that the original handle has one of its end covers missing. Due to its weight: COLLECTION ONLY, but that gives you the chance to try it out. NOTE THAT: As part of the clear out I will soon be listing: Laney 100W 15" combo. Behringer BEQ3012 two channel 32 band equaliser with feedback detection. Two Shermann PA cabinets (15" + 6" + tweeter). Seriously professional bits of kit. 12 + 4 15m Snake cable/box 12 + 4 25m Snake cable/box Behringer FBQ6200 32 band, 2 channel equaliser with feedback detection. CROWN XLS 602 Power amp (2 x 370W @ 8 Ohm) Free to collect.
Count Bassy replied to Count Bassy's topic in Recycling
Actually not yet. It's still in our hallway annoying Mrs Bassy, if you want it it's yours (to collect). I used to work in Coalville for a couple of years about 10 years ago. -
I'm very strict about changing strings: Every 15 years, whether they need it or not.

"Micro Frets" with interesting adjustment at the nut
Count Bassy replied to alyctes's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I experimented with an adjustable nut on my basses, but only to the extent of pushing a bit of galvalized wire under the strings next to the nut, so that it could be slid/angled as required. Made a real difference to the intonation at the low end (bottom 3 or 4 frets), and after setting the intonation at the bridge has negligible affect elsewhere. Didn't do anything permanent as I assumed that the required position would change with the strings fitted. In princible a good idea. -
Animal is my favourite too*, what an attitude! * Apart from my son of course.

Deleted. Attempt at a joke that didn't work.

However, use with care. These things are very hard and can snap quite easily the smaller ones. If it snaps off in the screw then you have a pice of hard steel down the hole that will not drill out! Try is in conjuction with some heat from a soldering iron.

Bilbo, only just noticed that you are back in circulation on Basschat. Good to see you back, though I still miss the carrots!

Is this expensive or am I missing something?

Shame it's in Japan, I would have liked to have it to offer as a house bass at the next open mike. -
Saw Roger Daltrey with his band (Not the Who) at the Birminham Symphony Hall last year sometime. Still an excellent voice and excellent show, IMHO.
-
Not in my experience. The open mic that I go to is every other Thursday. Every other other Thursday is a jam session, and is totally different.

And he'd rip all your frets out!
