The number of people who turn up at open mikes and set up their tablet for the lyrics and chords is really depressing. If you can't be bothered to learn the words and tune then stay at home until you have! Your performance will be better for it as well. PS: These are not only people who are just starting out (in which case it is sort of understandable).

I didn't know this, but it seems that: "G taper is reverse audio till midpoint and regular audio after that" and "a linear should work, but the control won't "feel" the same".

In most cases the value of the pot , and its characteristics are written on the side of the pot itself. Unless the company are being deliberately awkward.

What does the writing on the side of the pot say?

My lesson from when I was self employed (learnt the hard way) was if they are unable to pay what they owe you on time just go for the juggular, (i.e. the small claims court). I was way too soft on one customer, kept getting excuse after excuse, eventually getting a cheque (it was that long ago) that bounced, and shortly after I eventually started court proceedings they went bust & I ended up with nothing. I like to give people a chance, but I think you've gone beyond what anyone could expect in accepting this crap from him.

When I was at Uni (75-79) Freebird was almost the compulsory last song at any "Disco"/party.

To a large extent Fender did get it right with the P and J bass body shapes. They fulfill the essentials of balance, access, and comfort etc. If pretty sure that when they came up with them they didn't just draw a shape and say "That'll do". Even the P & J shapes aren't really that far apart. These shapes can be tweaked by other companies, but in many cases coming up a dramatically/instantly recognisable different body shape is to the detriment of basic function. They same way that the vast majority of cars are basically the same shape. IMHO of course.

Only if one is worried about weight I guess (I'm not). I like a fiver because of the low D, mainly as a low minor 7th when playing in E.

Standing up while playing certainly has more visual impact than sitting down. A folk dance band I was in (playing melodeon) used to sit down. Then was at an event where the band was standing and we reolved to stand up from then on. If you are incapable of standing then there may be nothing you can do about it, but (IMHO) the visual impact will be diminished.
