  1. I think Paul is outside the UK, so he will be charged VAT in his home country (Hungary, right?) plus handling charges unless BD takes out UK VAT before shipping the bass to the EU. They are doing it for new basses (they list a separate export price) but are they doing it for used basses too? They don't seem to list export prices for used basses on their website as far as I can see.
  2. Yes, you are right. Different, not better. I did not realise that one p pickup is reversed and the other isn't. Thought the 79 would be the 77 plus the extra J which clearly isn't the case. Need new glasses ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  3. Man, this looks killer. Congrats. I especially love the look of the wood grain. I have the 77 and it is an amazing bass with my fav Spector neck and a take-no-prisoners P pickup. I can only imagine that the 79, with the additional J pickup, is even better. Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜
  4. Oh, yes, this is indeed a big problem, you are right โ˜น๏ธ
  5. Still there. It's in the "used & ex demo" section. Go for it, @Paulhauser ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  6. Yeah, awesome looking bass, super classic looks. Fortunately, it has a string too many. I can hardly cope with four. That's why I like playing AIC songs. For many you only need one or two strings. Played Sea of Sorrow today. E string only. That's more like me ๐Ÿ˜ I think I should tell BT to block BD's website for my account. Already bought two basses from them and it is still February. Very, very dangerous and costly website ๐Ÿ˜‰
  7. Just saw this on BD's website. NS-2 in red with a killer maple top. Can someone please buy it before I get into trouble with my wife? (my bank gave me a nice banking app that allows me to shift money from the savings to the current account within seconds. Payments only take seconds too and BD's bank details are already stored in the app ;- ) ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿคฉ
  8. Slightly off topic but in case you want to find more about that, then check out this video (from 27:42). Renzo Rosso, Founder of Diesel, explains the story behind the distressed jeans which he started back in 1978. At first, retailers would return his jeans, thinking they were second hand. The video also shows how they "screw" and "grind" the fabric in a factory in India (from 31:23). Very interesting.
  9. Agree and what a performance considering that Layne was already in poor shape and Jerry was suffering from food poisoning! They also performed in front of the Metallica blokes. Nice message written on Mike's acoustic bass: Friends Don't Let Friends Get Friends Haircuts ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. YES!!! ๐Ÿ˜
  11. Cool stuff. Just discovered this thread. Well, for me it can only be this one. Bernard Edwards is really killing it here with his unique chucking technique. Check it out:
  12. Saw this on Twitter a few months back. Sounds familiar to me ๐Ÿ˜‰
  13. I actually really only have one bass that is not going anywhere: My Spector Euro 4 Mike Starr Limited Edition. Big AIC fan and this bass is probably the closest I will ever get to a US NS-2 as it also has solid maple wings, EMG PJ pickups and the HAZ 9V preamp. Killer bass ๐Ÿคฉ
  14. Just in case some of you wonder what my previous fabric post was all about ๐Ÿ™‚
  15. Thanks for sharing @Paulhauser. Nice one. Sounds really good, esp. the guitars. Would have loved to hear more of Spector goodness though (there was a bit at the beginning of the third song, Reverie 153, at 11:30). Could also have done without the short death grunt vocals in the second song (Time). I don't think they fit the vibes of the overall sound of the EP but that's probably just me not being a big fan of cookie monster vocals ๐Ÿ˜Ž The real highlight is the female vocalist. Man, she can sing! Wow. Reminded me a lot of the one in The Gathering:
  16. Spector fans! My wife is a fashion designer and milliner. This week she got some fabric for a new project. I saw it and thought: wait a minute, this looks very familiar. She told me the colour effect is called Ombrรฉ. I googled it and it is French ("shaded") and means a colour that is shaded or graduated in tone. Check it out:
  17. Amazing looking bass. One of the best I've seen in a long time. Enjoy ๐Ÿคฉ
  18. Finally got a quote from Thomann for the Stingray Special 2021, 4 HH, Raspberry Burst: 3399โ‚ฌ Well, at least we know for sure now that the price increase is not a UK only phenomenon ๐Ÿ˜‰ Will be interesting to see how EBMM's pricing will look like after the pandemic. Prices rarely go down but are there really enough customers who are willing to pay almost ยฃ3k for a Stingray? I doubt it but we'll see. If I were EBMM, I would tell customers in a nice online statement and/or YT video what is going on, why we are seeing these high prices etc. I think it is better to be transparent and some people may even get won over by the arguments presented. Without it, people just fill the void with their own theories, like we are doing here, some theories will be close to reality, some maybe not so much.
  19. No idea and my theory, well, it is just a theory. Only someone from EBMM can tell us what really is going on.
  20. Finally some feedback from Thomann (after a friendly reminder). They mentioned that there will be fewer basses available with longer delivery times and higher prices. Well, looks like we are all in the same (EU-UK) boat. Looks like my theory is correct, EBMM is throttling international distribution and protecting its domestic market. Fair enough but I am definitely out now ๐Ÿ˜’
  21. Just watched this video on YT. Cool dudes. They discuss interesting topics but clearly don't follow a script (or only a very loose one ;- ) Anyway, my main takeaways: "Be kind, for goodness' sake" and "Don't jump on the hate train" Nothing to add ๐Ÿ˜‰
  22. Cheers. Yes, I know, it will be different from the Stingray but that's ok as I can then still get the Stingray Classic for my Funk and Disco stuff. I am always surprising my wife with all these new music genres that I am somehow getting interested in (Motown, Funk, Disco, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Prog, Metal, Grunge) ๐Ÿ˜Ž Anyway, I hope the L2K will be my Prog bass (esp. for Rush, Riverside, Karnivool and Tool. With regard to the latter, I've read somewhere that the L2K is the poor man's Wal. Well, there you go ; -). I also got this pedal to go with it. Hope to check it all out over the coming weekend:
  23. yeah, either that or hoping for one to pop up on the used market!
  24. Thank you, @drTStingray. Much appreciated! My next EBMM is hopefully the Stingray Classic for all my Chic/Bernard Edwards stuff. Would love to eventually get hold of a MM Sabre too. Hope EBMM relaunches them in the not too distant future (in natural finish of course ; -) One of my heroes, Louis Johnson (of course predominately known for his Stingray), played one as can be seen here:
