  1. Nice one. I used to own the same model. Very fair price, especially if one considers what Stingrays cost nowadays (£3k!). BTW, PMT Manchester (technically Salford) used to be called Sound Control. That's where I bought my first ever bass! GLWTS 👍
  2. 8 strings? Wow, four too many for my skill level 😉 Preamp recommendations: 1. Hazlab (but pretty expensive), 2. Tonepump with trimpot. 3. Aguilar OBP 2 or 3 Pickup recommendations: 1. EMG 35P4X, 2. EMG 35DCX or a combination of both (P4X for the neck, DCX for the bridge)
  3. Yeah, I saw that and hope it will become available here in the UK. I checked the usual suspects (Andertons, PMT and GuitarGuitar who are the official G&L distributors here in the UK (at least according to G&L's website)) but no one is carrying one. I guess I could always ask one of them to try and order one (and also get me a black pickguard) but let's hope G&L comes up with a SB-1 anniversary model with black hardware next year! Something like this one:
  4. Sorry to hear about your health issues, Dave. What a bummer ☹️ Your Ian Hill sig looks great and it is indeed a limited edition (50 made in black and 50 in white to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Judas Priest). However, this bass should also be of interest to non JP fans as it not only looks great but also has a fast neck (Ian Hill models have a slim neck, front to back, but with the same nut width as normal Euro and US models, unlike the Doug Wimbish model which has a 1.5'' nut) and unlimited oomph thanks to the Tonepump preamp. Moreover, it has solid maple wings and not the Euro typical alder/walnut/maple or poplar burl sandwich. Finally, the price is super fair, considering it seems to be in mint condition, only a few months old and a new one costs £2.1k. For the £400 you save, you can get yourself the HAzlab 9V preamp and some oval crowns fretboard stickers to turn it into an NS-2 😎 GLWTS 👍
  5. Cheers. Yes, still have the other two too. 5 Spector basses in total at the moment: 3 Fortes and 2 Euro basses (Mike Starr LE and 1977 LE). I think I will stop buying any more and instead start saving money for a NS-2 with a finish like this one:
  6. A few years ago, I bought a Gibson T'bird in GuitarGuitar's Epsom store. They have a dedicated tech guy in the store who set up the bird to my liking. Great service 👍
  7. Cheers. Thin and wide neck (Ian Hill/Kramer Era). All my Fortes have that profile. Plays like a dream. Super light too.
  8. Yesterday, I got my third Spector Forte. After #168 (Vintage Tint Ash) and #194 (Trans Satin Black), now #198 (Gloss Black). It comes with EMG PJ pickups and the Haz 9V preamp. It pretty much is a no-frills NS-2. Only differences: no inlays and alder instead of maple wings. Great looks and sounds for the early AIC and Queensrÿche vibes 😎
  9. Just watched this video on YT. Came across a mysterious Spector. Is it a new model, a custom model or a heavily modded regular model? Check out the video (3:32-3:50).
  10. Looks like the low end lobster is not impressed by the Metro Express either. 2 claws out of 5.
  11. I also came across this one. Another killer looking finish. It is a signature Euro LX for a bassist and lead singer in a Japanese all-girl band. Wish Spector would offer it here too. 😍
  12. Well, what can I say? Nope, nope, nope 😉
  13. Great, hope the person you saw looking at it buys it so I don't have to 😉
  14. Spector fans! Saw this on BD's website. What a great looking bass. One of the best I have seen. Can someone please buy it? I am getting very tempted but I really should not even look at any new basses. So, please help me 😎
  15. Fortunately I don't consider myself a bedroom payer but a living room player, so I should be ok with having more than one 😉 In total, I need 11 (of course): I need one for grunge rock, one for classic rock, one for punk rock, one for prog rock, one for prog metal, one for classic heavy metal, one for nu-metal, one for doom metal, one for funk, one for disco and also one for Motown. Well, that's at least what I've told my wife 😎
  16. Congrats. Great basses. I recently got a CLF L2K CAR and it is an amazing bass. I have it always in series mode and adjust the other two toggle switches for different genres (e.g., back pickup and active boost for funk, both pickups and active for prog and front pickup and passive for classic rock). So much versatility. I also love the look of your black SB-2. I really hope that G&L will re-release both the SB-1 and 2 for their 40th anniversary next year with the old headstock and with black hardware. They re-released the L1k and L2K with the old headstock and the old control plate and toggle switches, so let's hope the old SB-1 and 2 come back too, maybe as part of the CLF line.
  17. Man, I ❤️ the "Dood", I mean the bass 😉
  18. @cetera, can it be that you are a tiny bit biased here? 😉
  19. Great looking bass with the thinner neck, which I prefer over the normal Euro necks. Very tempting indeed. GLWTS 👍
  20. Agree and Jerry was not in great shape either as he mentions in this interview with Lars Ulrich:
  21. On April 10th, 1996, AIC performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Majestic Theater in NYC for MTV Unplugged. I know some people will disagree and point to Nirvana's, Pearl Jam's or Stone Temple Pilots' appearances (or definitely maybe Oasis?), but for me this is most legendary performance. Enjoy 😍
  22. Wow, £700 off for a 6months old bass in showroom mint condition and extra pickguards? Sounds like a fantastic bargain. Very tempting. Must resist 😎 GLWTS 👍
