  1. I know, I know, it was a bit sneaky ๐Ÿ˜ 91 had some great albums but I had to smuggle AIC, Tool and RATM in. I was even considering smuggling in 93 to feature Tool's Undertow. I just want rock music to reach the mainstream again, so that more people become aware of it and get interested in it and play it too. Thinking of it, however, it may be an old school, pre- Internet, pre-social media, pre-streaming way of thinking. I guess I am just getting old, nostalgic and Covid-cabin fever ridden ๐Ÿฅด Let's just do what Stuart Spector told me when I met him once at a LBGS: "Play music and bring joy to the people". Still remember that!
  2. 91/92 - Some of my favs: 1. AIC - Dirt 2. Pearl Jam - Ten 3. Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog 4. STP - Core 5. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger 6. Tool - Opiate 7. RATM - RATM 8. Nirvana - Nevermind 9. Primal Scream โ€“ Screamadelica 10. The Brand New Heavies - The Brand New Heavies and, of course, as this list goes to 11 11. Spinal Tap - Break Like the Wind ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  3. Would be great for a new version of "Who wants to be a millionaire" but with 80 answer categories ๐Ÿ˜€ Speaking of WWTBAM, I still like this version:
  4. ask @Woodinblack ๐Ÿ˜
  5. Nice one, I think it is called creating a "cognitive dissonance". Don't worry, I was only teasing you, the BB is not on my radar, so please, "listen to your heart" (yes, nostalgic today) ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. Some more info about the BBPH. The finish is called "fired red". Really like the sound but still don't like the look of it (you can see what I meant at e.g. 1:13). Such a shame. I had been looking forward to its release for ages and then I just don't like it. Aarrggh. Not my week, lost out on a stunning looking Stingray and then the "fired red" finish downer. Anyway, it is what it is. I am sure they will sell them all.
  7. As I said, they are still teenagers and already opening for big acts. Let's see how far they can take it. I wish them all the best ๐Ÿ‘ Sure, feel free to listen to EDM. Still hope rock will have a (mainstream) comeback. Maybe this pandemic just makes me nostalgic and I just want it to be 1991 all over again ๐Ÿ˜ž
  8. BTW, you really should be with me on this one because otherwise I will ask my wife to bail me out and give me an emergency loan (ยฃ900) and you know what I will do with that money ๐Ÿ˜†
  9. They are still "teenagers" and I think they have the potential to go places. Opening for band such as Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper and the Killers is definitely a good start, don't you think? When I was that age, I was not playing in a band, I was not even playing an instrument but listening to "Who's that girl", "The Living Daylights" and "Never gonna give you up" on the radio ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. C'mon, she is just 15 years old and I really hope "The Warning" will be huge with their record deal. This is the next generation and we really need some new rock bands. I am sick of all the EDM stuff and I hope more and more kids of EDM listening parents want to rebel and re-discover good old fashioned rock. That's why I also like Nandi Bushell who is a great drummer for her age (10, I think). She will join the Foo Fighters on stage at a concert when they tour the UK next. I will be there ๐Ÿ™‚ BTW, Ale will also have a Spector sig bass next year. Someone over at FB showed it. It is a bit too bling (sparkly gold) for my taste but great to see Spector supporting young talent ๐Ÿ‘
  11. Alejandra Villarreal, bass player in "The Warning" together with her two sisters. They are really good.
  12. The future of rock, the future of bass playing, with one stunning looking Spector bass ๐Ÿ˜€
  13. You are correct but it still does not look great, at least in my view. I think one will struggle finding one with a great looking wood grain. Alder is your classical wood choice for a solid finish, not a translucent one. Anyway, most people will probably not bother much and so it's just me being a bit OCD about looks ๐Ÿ˜‰
  14. From your list, a Bernard Edwards, Louis Johnson and Timmy C sig bass would be very, very tempting. I've just lost out on a great looking Stingray Special in natural here on BC, so I am definitely interested in getting a natural one. What I have seen so far, EBMM's sig basses are all for living artists. Therefore, out of the three, for obvious reasons, only a Timmy C icon series sig bass may happen. Would love to get a natural Stingray Special HH with black hardware. I think that's a great combination. It has been on my wishlist since I first saw it being featured in this PG rig rundown (from 06:55):
  15. As I always say, there is a golden rule in life: only ever sell a Spector to finance another one ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. @Al Krow - I think this is what's called a "leading question" ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  17. Good idea. Please buy one. You can then sell it to me, half-price, and I'll promise not to laugh at you. I will just say "Thank you, Andy. Much appreciated" ๐Ÿ˜‰
  18. Awesome looking Spector with solid maple wings! I also only heard great things about the SNC-Haz that gets you super close to the sound of the Haz 9V for a fraction of the price. I mentioned in another thread that I have maxed out my credit card for this month, so I am out out until the 14th. I am sure it will be gone by then but if not, then I may get tempted ๐Ÿ˜Ž ยฃ800 is a ridiculously low price for such such a killer package. It is pretty much a NS-2 for less than what people charge for an used Euro! GLWTS ๐Ÿ‘
  19. @Al Krow - Unfortunately (or fortunately for you), I have maxed out my credit card for this month. I also put in an offer for another bass by a fellow BCer and have to hope now that no one makes him a better offer until the 14th or I am out. So, you have until the 14th to close the deal on the BB1200s because then I'll be back ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  20. An 1200s in good condition? Now we are talking. Very tempting. Could always buy it and get it refinished in metallic red ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. Wow, the neck on the natural Stingray looks killer. Unfortunately, BFR means that it will be out of my price range. Great to see that most of the Cliff Williams signature Stingray have sold! Over at TB, there has been a heated debate (19 pages and counting!) including several haters. I don't get it. Yes, $7k is a lot of money but is it a limited edition (26 in total), a lot of hard work and effort went into producing it, it clearly is not targeting the mass market and, most importantly, "All proceeds from the sale of this Cliff Williams Icon series bass will be donated to The American Alzheimerโ€™s Association Gulf Coast Chapter who provides support and resources for those living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer's or other dementias." I think it's great and I hope EBMM will release some more models in their icon series!
  22. Sound Control is also the place I bought my first ever bass, a Warwick Corvette Std. I still have it (just out of nostalgia) but the neck and truss rod are toasted. I mentioned it in the Yamaha BB mega-thread as well: I think it sounds great (judging from the videos I have watched so far) but I am not sure alder is the right choice for a translucent finish. It will need quite some shopping around to find a nice looking one. The one below shows the three pieces and how they don't match up nicely. I know, I know, I am a bit picky when it comes to these things ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  23. Maybe it is only a limited edition in the US. Neither PM nor GuitarGuitar mention anything about it being limited. The price (ยฃ899/ยฃ999) does not scream "limited edition" to me either. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/201118364031025--yamaha-bb-peter-hook-signature
