  1. I did this to a neck some while ago, like yours it seemed to have come to the end of the adjustment but still had a forward bow. It worked a treat. I still have the bass, neck is still straight.
  2. Isn't it! I like Albert Lee, seen him a couple of times in Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings and also in his own right. He still plays at that speed even now, albeit not quite as nimbly. But I didn't quite realise how accomplished Chas Hodges was.
  3. Recently I have been mining the rich vein of golden oldies on the Beat Club back catalogue. Stumbled on this, Chas Hodges keeping up with Albert Lee!
  4. Here again, slightly different context to the Bruford clip
  5. TI Flats on mine. Yum.
  6. Have you tried dieting?
  7. I'd steer clear of Bon Jovi if I were you
  8. Me too!
  9. Laura Ashley Death Punch. Has a certain ring to it.
  10. There are 4 x Peavey drivers for sale here for £30. They might do the job.
  11. I think this is exactly what I think. Exactly. With my blues trio I do what I fancy as that is what it is about. With the Jovi tribute I do try to do it as per whatever version we settle on playing but Hugh McDonald is a great player and often does stuff I struggle with.
  12. I like these a lot. I find them very comfy.
  13. I stumbled upon this the other day. Totally not my thing but, well, Maddy Prior. In the comments someone says her voice is like a laser. Mrs S and I are followers of Go West. I've probably seen them live more than any other band. Peter Cox has the most remarkable quality about his voice, especially live. Aided, I suspect, by the fact that he reaches the high notes using his eyebrows. This is one of their lesser known tunes, a far cry from the vest and monkey wrench early stuff.
  14. I get it, it is ok. No need to labour your point, Michael.
  15. I am genuinely surprised by this. In asking to get folks to disagree politely I am now the bad guy? I find this ironic. Anyway, lesson learnt, I'll keep my nose out of other people's discussions from now on. 'Nothing to see here, move on'. 😁
  16. Well, I may have my 'cranium up my anus'. I prefer to think of it as old fashioned courtesy and manners that, if I disagree with someone, I don't resort to ridicule. Yes, we all like different things and, yes, we all voice opinions about it. My point is let's just play nicely. Sorry if some of you think that is tedious - I'll get off my high horse now
  17. You disappoint me, Chris. I thought you were better than all this.
  18. Wot he said.
  19. I wholeheartedly agree. And actually it isn't the OP I have contention with, rather a lot of childish ridicule presented by some of the folks who don't like it. And that is the bit that I am not comfortable with because it then extends the notion of ridicule to anyone who does like it.
  20. I've not listened to it, nor will I, but this thread highlights what I perceive to be an increasing thing recently. Seems to me that there are a handful of self-appointed arbiters of taste on here just waiting to tear apart anything that doesn't meet their own personal criteria for 'a good thing'. Get some perspective, guys.
  21. I was in a band for a short while with male and female singers both of whom were rather handsome examples of their gender. It soon became apparent that there was some kind of spark between them which resulted in both leaving their respective partners to become an item. Both had kids and it got rather messy. Worse than that, they then ganged up and believed it was 'their' band and started calling the shots. And that was that. Shame really as everything started off really well. The drummer was the best I had ever played with - ex-pro dragged out of retirement - but he was so whizzed off about it all that he packed up drumming.
  22. Another possible trade - SKB 44 hard case plus a bit of cash. Oh, and bump.
  23. I went through a phase of routinely changing the BBOT in my Fenders et al and tried most of the available aftermarket bridges. Not for any sonic reasons but because I preferred the look of many and the adjustability of some. Mainly, though, I found the BBOT uncomfortable on the palm of my hand as I used to pretty much anchor it to the bridge whilst stabbing away with my pick. Especially, as has been noted, where the saddle height grub screws poke out. It seems that these days my hand has quietly migrated. I play a lot more finger style than I ever did and I guess as a result of that I don't tend to rest my hand on the bridge quite so fervidly now even when digging in with a pick - only really for palm muting. So as a result I don't find the BBOT quite so uncomfortable any more (although I will still replace sticky out saddle screws). Saved me a fortune!
