1. Agreed, I reckon BT10 is the one.
2. I can confirm that WoT is not into 60s Precisions - I offered him my sonic blue '62 (it even rhymes) for £750 and he declined. Mind you it was 1983. I may try him again at £800, what with inflation and all.
3. Fitting a Gotoh 201 often requires shimming the neck to achieve a low action.
4. Van Gogh was pretty poor at reading the dots, but he had a good e... (censored by the corny joke filter).
5.
My 2 cents: go down to a card shop and get some helium balloons. P
And if you're using a T-bird, tie a few to the headstock.
6.
we met in a clandestine car park evening meet,
Cheers pal. What were that couple in the car park on about? - didn't even see any dogs in their car.
7. Nice smooth deal with Tom for set of Badass saddles - splendid chap.
8. I'm checking my spares box - need to know if you'll need flat bottomed or curved.
9. Met up with Paul to complete a deal on a Gator case - great communication throughout - a splendid chap.
10. FWIW - my theory. If you EQ your amp for a 4x10 then plug in to a 1x15 you'll change your EQ to make it sound right. When you put the two together a 'grey' area results. You don't know how to EQ the amp to suit both. So stick to one or the other - don't mix them. Personally I like 2x15s but if I preferred 4x10s I'd make sure I used a pair.
11. I rather thought it was a bullet truss rod you had stripped in which case it would be part number 099-4945-000 which is in the Fender part of Allparts catalogue.
12. No, not keen on anything that can't make up it's mind as to what it wants to be.
13. The pots dating puts it as a '75. No other issues in relation to the absence of neck dating - they didn't bother then. The stamps you see relate to final inspection, therefore OK.
14.
Wasn't there a "Dave the Hippy" who used to do some awesome little bluesy guitar sets down at the Jazz Cafe? Same Hippy?
You may be thinking of Gypsy Dave - he's still around as far as I know. The other Dave from McKay's was the spit of Neil from the Young Ones.
15. Full of Vintage (JHS). I thought Len White was still the no.1 choice.
16.
what happened to Dave the hippy ?
Retired - shop now run by Dougie who used to have the 'general' second-hand shop next door. Haven't been back for a while have you?
17. Statuesque - a la Ox.
18.
Ah cool, what should I lash the lead coming from the bridge too then, the cold lug on the jack?
Yes.
19.
Where on earth would you keep all that gear ? It's amazing.
I think he means precisely where do you keep them, and when will you be out?
20. Estimate around £200 for a new board but, if there's still a good thickness there, a skim is to be recommended first.
21.
And I'm not sure a battery compartment right under the bridge is a good idea?
Hmmm...didn't spot that first time round - not good. If the bass is cheap enough, I wouldn't say avoid but it's definitely not the best example of that kind of mod.
22. Looks OK to me - Jazz pickup a bit too close to the bridge though.
23. Allegedly.
24.
Rock City was probably the best shop - I think owned by the afore-mentioned Tommy and John who have Sounds Live now.
Tom and John do indeed own Sounds Live but just for the record Rock City was owned by Bill White (remember White Amps?) originally based in Sunderland. Tom and John worked for Bill until the demise of Rock City and then set up on their own as Sounds Live.
