1.
invitation to my naturist garden party is withdrawn.
I've been to your naturist garden parties before and withdrawn was certainly appropriate.
 2.
my playing flounders
You should stop playing flounders and return to bass.
 3.
32" + 34" + "35 Double balls also available.
Damn, I'm after short scale - do you know if it's possible to trim the 32" without causing any intonation problems?
 4.
I have a a job lot of these if anyone wants to buy some, £15 a set including postage, all gauges available.
What scale length?
 5.
Utter claptrap. You're a moron.
How can you say such a thing when you haven't even tried it. Until you can disagree without personal insults I suggest you are a twannick.
 6.
Oops - panto season's gone, isn't it?
Yes, It's BEHIND you.
 7.
I disagree with both of you.
You are entitled to your opinion but I still think you're wrong.
 8.
Just a thought....nice deep Chic low tone but a nice bright G string for funky pops? .....there maybe a very obvious reason why this isn't done though
Don't see why you shouldn't try it - no harm can result.
 9.
Even better, it's something new for us all to argue about on here. Nice work, Sir.
I don't agree with you.
 10. It's 0.05" and I've got plenty. I'll be seeing you soon! H.
 11. If the scale length, nut to bridge, is 30" short scale will do.
 12.
Anyone know what bass it is? lol
Still reckon Horner......but not the Jack.
 13.
Anyone know what bass it is? lol
I think it's a Horner.
 14.
I hope you won't get upset if it doesn't have the original strings on Howie... saying that you can get a 30 year old set off one of your other basses!
The originals were flatwound so there should still be some mileage in them yet. After all my '62 Jazz is carrying a set for which I still have the box marked £8.15s.0d.
 15.
Wouldn't it be cool if we somehow found it and all chipped in to buy it as the forum bass. It would of course reside in the Tyne area.
What a jolly good idea - I'll see if I can find the serial number - someone may have registered it.
 16. Correct. But there's no prize.
 17.
That bass must be very precious to you, assuming you still have it.
Oh, here's the sad bit. A year or so later I was a bit hard up, not playing the 'Ray, and sold it to a friend on the basis that when I got sorted I would have first option back. Fews months went by and he rang me so I gets all excited only to hear that the bass had been stolen from his car outside a gig. Never been seen since.
 18. Nice one! I had the pleasure of backing Tim on a TV programme called 'Highway' which was broadcast when the Tall Ships Race visited the Tyne.
 19. I've decided Huwberry's prize is a personal greeting from a man who has shaken the hand of Leo Fender. Here goes:- "Hi there Huwberry. Oh, and ........... have a nice day".
 20. OK Chris, that's the winner - not sure what the prize will be.
 21.
Mmmmmm........
Correct.
 22.
Alleh f*****g lulah You sell either, I come looking for you mate! Nice one dude. The circle is complete. Or something C
Guess who sorted the 70s bridge.
 23. Caption quotes seem to have ground to a halt - I'll decide on the winner in due course. For those who don't know the background, I entered a competition after buying a Musicman Stingray from Rock City, Newcastle in 1979. Here is the letter received after a phone call which I first thought was a wind-up. Oh, sorry it hasn't scanned very well. Don't think this next pic lends itself to captions but I bet some of you will prove me wrong. L to R Rod Bradley, (boss of Strings and Things), Bill White (of Rock City Music), Elizabeth Pedraza (Export Manager of Musicman and our host(ess) for most of the 10 days), Alan Grant (Sales bod of S'n'Ts), Ray Todd (ditto), then Moi and some old Geezer who wandered in off the street. Proud to show one of my bits of memorabilia from the trip - the man's signature on the owner's manual for the Stingray. I still speak regularly to Ray Todd at Strings 'n' Things - must point out how skinny he was then ( and I really hope the 70s porn star 'tache has gone). I will do my best to answer any questions about my chat with Mr. Fender but bear in mind lots of things occured to me AFTER being in his presence and it was quite a long time ago. H.
 24. Nope BE, mine was a sunburst - you know the colour that just seems to.....go away. Sad thing is, it was stolen about a year later so I no longer have the 'ticket' that got me to meet the man. Still have the owners manual though - complete with his autograph!
