2. PM'd.
3. 3-Ply T'shell is quite cheap, can be £15 for a P plate but the best 4-ply material will come out at around £35.
4. Aah... I see why you're called silentbob.......
5. It has been known - wadyawant?
6. I regret booking a table for two for Valentines Day only to be told by my wife that she didn't actually like snooker.
7. I don't think the shape suits that colour.
8. I regret not meeting my dear (meaning expensive) wife until after my first marriage. Then again, when I married the first one, the current Mrs. BD was not yet born.
9.
what is the 1/2" and 3/8" measuring?
That'll be the diameter of the post that pops through to receive the string.
10. Sorry Si, the joke was a bit too tempting. Will try to be seeryarse in future.
11.
Mmm if you were selling something this expensive it would make sense to have a proper valuation. If u r sure it's real then it's got to be worth the effort. It sounds like the seller doesn't understand the Market and that would be enough to scare me off. I bet if it was proved to be fake after the sale the seller would claim he was unaware but 'doesn't do returns'
I think that's the point I tried to make in my earlier posts - the seller didn't realise exactly what the value was when it was first advertised (offers coming in at £600) and subsequently someone has put them right by giving a truer valuation. I'm willing to bet it ain't fake.
12. I would simply add that you must take care about exactly what kind of wires you attach to either your tip or your ring.
13.
I have to say the patina on the fingerboard (and the colour of the dots), body, scratchplate etc. all look very period correct; even the rust on the pup slugs BUT in comparison that headstock and rear of the neck look 'quite' new and shiny! My main concern is the number of people involved in taking the last photograph... I spot feet belonging to at least 3 people!
I have seen necks that clean before - it's the fingerboard pics that convince me it's genuine. The foot at the top right (CAR painted toe nails) is claimed to be Carol Kaye and she may be suing for unauthorised publication of said tootsies.
14. Just seen the added pics - I'm sticking to my opinion that it's real.
15.
I've asked for detailed pictures of the normal stuff.
Looking forward to that - my reputation is in jeopardy here! We need a picture of the neck-plate in particular - L 1963 makes no sense but I still think it's somebody a bit 'green' rather than a scammer. Watch this space...................................................not that one, this one..............................................................................................
16.
Is it just me who dings the headstock way, way more often than the body? That headstock looks pristine -- pretty much identical to my 2009 Precision, apart from the fact I've already put a couple of doinks in the end. Might it not be a new neck on an old body?
Undinged headstock is usually a sign that the bass player has played with an excellent drummer - my '63 headstock is full of marks from the skull of bad time-keeping drummers who needed the odd reminder of the tempo.
17. My gut feeling is it's genuine. Having listed it once in an open-ended way, some one has pointed out that the seller is sitting on more of a goldmine, hence the intro price of £3000. This may well have been after someone paid a visit to check the authenticity. I could be wrong of course and only more detailed photographs would confirm but my money is on it being a very well preserved example of a real '63.
18.

I am renowned for my tacet - it has been commented on so often, I have been asked to do more of it.
19. Nice smooth deal with Nick for pickups and hardware - very prompt payer and therefore splendid chap.
20. The 'small' bit says "offset contour body patented".
21.
That said, he's either a conniving git or needs help, who knows.
What he needs is a single brain cell implant - might just double his intelligence.
22. Breaking (wind) news.........to follow.....
23.
"... as this drama enters its second day, thousands have joined the silent vigil in the plaza below the BassChat Tower. I have to tell you, Frank, the atmosphere here is ... electric."
Our diplomatic correspondent is standing outside Stringfellows Club waiting to report on the latest developments. The story has nothing to do with with Stringfellows - he just likes standing there.
24. Nice smooth transaction with Bassjase - A splendidly packed body (not him, the Jazz one).
25. Any advance on 22? Haven't got the right specs on.
