Hard to believe, but when that picture was taken I was pointing out the one issue I had with my own Stingray. The pole pieces had too severe a camber so that A and D were loud and G and E were a fair bit quieter.
Uncle Leo was very gracious and actually gave me some 'add-on' magnets of the right diameter to stick to the weaker pole pieces.
I'll try to load up some more stuff when I've been up to the attic to retrieve it - it includes a treasured autograph.

Separate thread I think - this one's about selling a rather tasty Jazz bass.
Look out for 'When Howie Met Leo'.

Later, got to get the littleun off to school.
Yep, Leo told me that himself. Early slab boards had sufficient thickness of rosewood that as the two woods continued to move over time they 'interferred' with each other by moving at different rates and quite often slight warpage and twisting was detectable (fortunately not enough to affect playability in many cases).
The later radiused boards were obviously thinner overall and allowed the maple (usually more stable anyway) to not be affected in the same way.
Myth most likely. I reckon as many people like the earlier slab fingerboard jobies. Mind you, Leo never changed anything just for the hell of it so maybe radiused fingerboards attract a premium to some folks.

And the G-string is all over the place.
And those knobs are just nasty.[/quote]
My sentiments exactly after seeing a live sex show.
I'm liking this. Nicely melodic. You seem to have mastered many styles.
The only one I appear to have nailed is known as the 'plod' according to my band mates.
I've got a Pickguardian one going spare. I've never seen a late 60's type reproduced accurately - this one is more like a 61/63 type. Description?:-
WOW!!!! L@@@@@@K!!!! AWESOME!!!! RARE!!!! DON'T cheap out on this beauty you''ll LOVE it!!!!
£275?... Nah, reserve not met.
Actually it's £25.00 incl. and has a rather splendid aged look. Bit like oneself old bean.

Isn't he the one about whom Jeff Berlin once said "Dave Anderson? - Nah, never heard of him"?
