  1. Has anyone had experience with these? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/TGI_Gig_bag.html
  2. Made the smallest of tweaks on the truss rod and was able to lower the action (nut is already cut for 45-105 gauge strings). At the 17th fret: E is 2.38mm, A is is 2.19, D is 1.98 and G is 1.59 By adopting a slightly lighter touch, I am able to get a lower action with minimal fret buzz. I will leave it like this for a while and see if I prefer the lower action. Much easier to play already has long has I don't use my usual gorilla technique!
  3. Yes, forgot that part. Using Roto nickels 45-105 gauge. Do people prefer to have the action at the same distance from the fretboard i.e. 3mm on all strings (following the radius of the neck) or have the strings at an equal level with each other like how I set it up?
  4. I've been told my bass is almost unplayable by a mate of mine yet I have no trouble playing it. I like zero fret buzz when I play and like to dig in a little so raise the strings slightly to compensate for this. E is 4/32, A is 7/64, D is 3/32 and G is just above 5/64. All measured at 17th fret on a Jazz bass.
  5. The blue sky packaging or black background packaging? If the black version, they are essentially XLs with a subtle difference.
  6. Phew, glad I bought one when I read this thread!
  7. Broken because of non usage? Where was it being stored?
  8. I tried the Bugera 'Marshall' valve copy and it sounded pretty good. One thing I learnt from that experience was valve heads are really heavy and a pain to move. Bought a Mark Bass combo the next day!
  9. I've owned a Modulus Flea... Blue sparkle with the Lane Poor pup. Dumbest thing I've ever done is sell it. It was a real rock star moment when you took it out of the case, especially at gigs.
  10. I've tried them all and DR Sunbeams are the ones that rule them all.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I won't be going to the supermarket next Friday - don't want to be knocked over whilst eager shoppers fight over a discount TV!!
  12. Myself and my band now use only IEMs. Try them - they're life changing!
  13. I've heard of Tonerider pickups being used in the Chinese CVs and for the money, they're the best bang for buck pickup out there.
  14. I have kept my CV Jazz stock since I was pretty happy with the sound already. The only mod I have made come to think of it is that I have added some Dunlop straplocks.
  15. Sounds like you've been jipped there, mate. The seller should have at least told you the box dimensions and weight - lazy seller.
  16. I have tried Chromes and they were very close to what I was looking for but not quite.
  17. When lyrics take on a different meaning a few years after you heard the song. That stuff gets me every time.
  18. I have tried the Fender flats and they were really stiff in my opinion!
  19. Never too old! Why should only young people get to play original music?
  20. I have avoided this by downsizing to a combo instead. My big rig days are very much over!
  21. Has anyone tried these? Thinking of switching over from GHS Precision flats. Could anyone compare the two?
