  1. Disgraceful that there's no mention of Andy Rourke in this thread.
  2. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club did a meet and greet at a record shop, in Belfast, once. They were playing that evening. I took my baby daughter along. Apparently Peter Hayes was a tad hungover, so didn't turn up. Robert and Leah played a few acoustic songs. My daughter was getting a bit restless after a while and Robert asked the audience to move in a bit closer. He said something along the lines of "Bring the baby too". I got my copy of "Beat The Devil's Tattoo" signed by them both. Non-music related - I met George Best at a book signing once and got my photo taken with him.
  3. Well done and good luck (don't forget to than us in your speech 😄)
  4. An old neighbour of mine used to work as a nurse on a children's ward. One Christmas a patient had painted a nativity scene, but in the corner there was a large circular shape. My neighbour asked what that was and the child replied "That's Round John Virgin"
  5. Did anyone else misread the thread title as Rickenbacker=Harley Benton?
  6. Don't forget Newcastle, Co Down, nestling in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains...
  7. Nah, he's actually saying "I'm buggered if I know what's supposed to happen" 😄
  8. I was never a big fan of Megadeth. I didn't mind them, but never got into them. I think it was Mustaine's vocals that did it for me too. He always sounded like he was trying to squeeze out a particularly solid poo.
  9. Until quite recently the old customs post was still in Belfast Central Station, albeit no longer in use. People used to come up form the republic to buy stuff like butter and take it home because it was much cheaper. Newry used to do a thriving trade in cross-border shopping, especially coming up to Christmas. About 25 years ago, fuel was cheaper south of the border and people would actually drive from Belfast to Dundalk to fill their cars.
  10. I don't normally like gold hardware, but it looks good with that blue.
  11. I was reading about the Beatles "She's Leaving Home", yesterday. Apparently it was sped up slightly for the stereo version to make Paul sound younger.
  12. I've had a metal pick in my case for about 30 years. I've no idea where it came from and don't think I've ever used it, apart from to see what it sounded like.
  13. I got the same guitar about six months ago and it really is excellent for the money. I've considered getting that amp too. I believe it is a clone of the Laney Super Cub 12
  14. It has a very NWOBHM feel to it, which I quite like, but yeah, the vocals are very annoying.
  15. That's a strange one. It's as if Fender were making a left handed offset body guitar, but someone forgot and carved the bottom of the body, for the arm, rather than the top. The bridge, trem arm, and pickguard all look homemade.
  16. That looks great. I love the cracking on the sunburst finish
  17. I prefer the pink one.
  18. One bass, two electric guitars, one acoustic guitar...
  19. Sounds great. Very cool to have Andy playing on it. Good luck with it.
