1. I remember when Wilko was on the Jools Hootenanny last year, and there was a similar thread. Some saw it as a tuneless, uncontrolled racket...Whilst others welcomed a real raw spirit in comparison to the other acts on the show. I'm just catching up on a bit of the Florence set now - a stage filled with multitude of instruments and backing vocalists..... Nice white P-bass though! Give the raw racket anytime....and I've not mentioned Lem's Ricke......oops!
2.
Not classic Motorhead...but I still liked it. Sorry
Me too! Warts 'n' all.
3. BBC4 8.30pm. It was originally scheduled at 9.30 on my guide, but it's now 8.30. Apparently they're on a little bit earlier - for an hour I believe - not sure if we're get a running 1/2 hour, or highlights. Just hope the iPlayer will show the full set.
4.
Saw them quite a few times . The last couple of times ( Wembley arena & Hyde park) , they were pretty dreadful. Never thought I'd ever say that. Hyde park last year, started brilliantly with some old classics. The new stuff was ropey to say the least. Lemmy was very frail then . Having said that, they'll,probably play a blinder at glastonbury.
Hope so. I was a bit put off by the Wembley gig - just the size and scale of the place. I always think the 'head should be up close and very personal!
5. We are The Howlin' Wolves, a 3-piece power-trio playing R'n'B in the classic Dr. Feelgood vein. I am obviously the bassist! Our repertoire is a mixture of covers and our own originals, with us having released 2 EP's over the last 2 years. We've been gigging since 2012, and have dates booked throughout the rest of this year, and plan to continue into the next. Our (ex) drummer has left us in the lurch, departing with zero notice. We have some deps lined up, but obviously need a permanent member ASAP! Based in Kent, we gig over the South East. You can see us/hear us at - www.reverbnation.com/thehowlinwolveskent PM me here for more details if interested. Thanks for reading! SB
6. Good man! I saw them in '88 (twice), and again in '89. I really want to go again, but they never seem to do much of a UK tour anymore. Maybe this year......
7.
Sounds excellent on the you tube link, very nice indeed. GLWTS

Agree, once of the nicest recorded Precision tones I`ve heard in a long time.
Thanks for the kind words chaps, appreciated. At the risk of derailing my own thread, the P is the pure tone - Fender amp and cab mic'd. At this rate I'm still tempted to keep this, but I'll leave it for a little longer....and then it's likely to stay at chez Spongebob!
8. Just a heads up that BBC4 will be showing Motorhead at Glastonbury this Friday night. To be followed by the excellent 'Lemmy - The Movie'. Well done the Beeb for showing something decent from Glastonbury. I always record all the coverage, but this is the first time there's a band I want to see!
9. This beauty is still up for grabs, folks - no, I can't believe it either at this price! I have just re-strung this with a brand new set of D'addario 45-105 Nickels, so it sounds better than ever. So can I have a B-U-M-P!
10. The 'S' does indeed have the VT control. Dots, as you said, and the added difference of a contoured body shape, and of course no binding. Pickups are the same as a 4003, so the tone is actually the same. It's YMMV - some prefer the looks/feel of the S over a standard 4003, some don't. Remember, the S was the preferred bass of Chris Squire and some guy called Paul Mccartney, although I've never heard of him. I actually got one a couple of weeks back, in Ruby. Had a Mapleglo first which I had to return for QC issues, but the Ruby is great. I've had 4003's before, but never an S.....it's a very nice bass indeed - if it was my first one, I'd be stuck what to go for - I'd say the S is certainly more playable with the contours - but I'm equally content with the normal slab. Goes well with my old 4001......!
11. I swear by D'addario Nickels (EXL 165's) on all my Rics, past and present. Either way, you can't go wrong!
12. Bump for post-weekend price drop. No Precision love out there? This bad boy is screaming for a new owner!
13. Lovely! Welcome the best club in the world!
14.
I watched a brilliant programme a few years ago about 1959 - a year in jazz - which featured groundbreaking albums by Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis and Ornette Coleman.
+1 on a great programme - really enjoyed that too. I keep meaning to listen to more OC - by all accounts a true legend. RIP.
15. Sounds like a true gent. RIP JL.
16. No problem.....it's like a feather with strings!
17. Borrowed some bathroom scales - apologies for the upside down image - can't seem to turn it around! Bass comes in at spot on 4kg - 8.8lbs says the Google converter.
18. I bought a Mapleglo 4003S last week, and promptly sent it straight back. Had an incredibly dull E string, and a chronic earthing problem. I've had lots of Rics, so am okay with the single coil hum....but this was unplayable, the buzzing was almost louder than the bass' output. I'm probably going to try one more, and if that fails, stick to my old one!
19. I'll try to get hold of some scales Tom!
20. Bump for free shipping in the UK!
21. Bit of a thread resurrection! Has anyone actually purchased a bass from the USA using the GSP? I've spotted a good deal - a saving of around £250/£300 when imported from America, and that includes the GSP extras. Wondering if it's a good idea, or if you still get stung.....
22.
Not fair! The EXACT bass that I want comes up for a great price when I have 0 cash.

I had the same bass, and really miss it neck was too big for my girl hands though. GLWTS dude
Thanks for the kind comments!
