Guess where my two songs came from... That book is practically a must buy for every bassist.

Martin Gaye - What's going on Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye - Ain't no mountain high enough Johnny Pate - Brother on the run I have played these quite a lot, but making them fluent and stylish require even more playing. @ChrisDev gave us an A. Holdsworth (Jimmy Johnson) score, that I want to learn. Can be found from the section Theory and Technique.

I have done hundreds of gigs with a Glockenklang Soul combo (2x10") without any issues. I also use the head with an alusonic 2x12" cab. If you have a right tool, I don't see a reason why you couldn't use it. Last time I had an issue with this combo was when I stuck a hole to a speaker by accident. I contacted G and I bought a new set of speakers from them. Problem solved. Yes, a Mesa 400+ would be a nice amp, but it weighs a metric ton, and is valve/tube = delicate. Why bother?

There's one more, but it is sold in the US only... oh dear, it is Audere. bartolini has functional preamps, but not all have mixers.
-
Noll Mixpot works very well. I have had it in my previous Modulus 5 SPi custom with bartolinis, and a current Status copy. You can buy a preamp from him as well. There's some US preamp with a mixer, but the name is somewhere here in the threads which I have forgotten. EMG is also one.

Oh dear, that IS on the complicated side. Thank you again for your impeccable work!

As I wrote earlier, if the size of the magnets, and magnetic field intensities are similar, it does not matter, which material you use. Are you actually referring to the field intensity when you talk about tonal quantities? Different field intensity sure affects tone. I have not found information that supports the latter, but I would love to hear more about that.

Sorry to be a killjoy. Often these company ready options are tried and true. Of course you can do modifications. Ser/Par/Single is a very common trial with J basses and humbucker pickups. After trying this several times with several basses and pickups, I dare to say that this modification gives you another option which is audible to you, only.

Magnetic material is a slightly meaningless thing. People talk about them a lot, but the material is probably used as an euphemism to magnetic field intensity. Field intensity (older: 10 000 Gauss = modern: 1 Tesla) of the Earth is around half Gauss = 50 micro T. Pickups are far more powerful. Magnet types, and their theoretical max fields: - ceramic, base is iron (Fe), strontium (Sr) is the additive, 0.2 - 0.4 T - samarium-cobalt, Sm-Co, 0.8 - 1.1 T - AlNiCo, aluminium-nickel-cobalt, 0.8 - 1.2 T - neodymium, Nd-Fe-B, 1.1 - 1.5 T Now each material can be, and usually is, weaker than its theoretical maximum. 1 T is awfully lot, and you may find such field in an MRI system, when your body is examined. When a magnetic component is manufactured, the result can be whatever. This should tell you all, that a neodymium can be weaker than a ceramic material. For example the manufacturing process, the material mixture, the size of the particles... everything affects the end result. When a pickup maker buys a set of magnets, the catalogue is big. The choice has to be made from material, size, shape, field intensity... 1) AlNiCo is not a single component or material with fixed properties. 2) The coil has also its properties, which depend on wire length, wire diameter, conductivity, physical coil size etc. 3) Combine these, and the result is a pickup of some kind. 4) Strings and instrument adjustments are the next step to the final sound.

I'd add a HPF (high pass filter) to reduce handling noise. That saves some energy.

USB-A pushes out low power starting from 5 VDC/100 mA = 500 mW only. USB-C is for bigger power levels. The charger output describes the speed of the charge. 22.5 W is quite a lot. I might consider it as a relatively fast unit, although I've seen 80 W phone chargers.

These schuldn't be turned on with boots, eh? Are these good for schugazing?

You are just modest, my dear bass playing fellow.

*Shivers* A good looking and single cut are contradictory terms. And this blond looks puffy.

One more thing to remember while you massage your body: Always towards your heart! This means that when you hammer your muscles, the hammer needs to move from toes to hip, or from fingers to shoulder. This way you do not ruin your veins' valves! Arteries are hidden, they do not care. Veins have valves (in your legs) that you must not destroy. ...and GLWTS.

A bandmate wrote a minute ago that we have played 78 songs during autumn.

Rugby and many dislocations sound like some problems. Anything like this Amazon thing could be fine for a start. The prices (and quality) vary a lot, but I would start with anything under £100. Maybe your local shop has something to try to? Remember: heavy use may break something. Lighter and longer is better here. https://www.amazon.com/Massage-Percussion-Handheld-Massager-Athletes/dp/B08QJNVP6F

That colour sure is the best colour there is. Only burgundy red is on par with that. @ead: "Due to arthritis really starting to affect my hands..." I have had quite a lot of issues with my hands. As a former road cyclist I tried to destroy my hands with wind and cold. Nowadays I need warmers. Sugar and acidic food is also really bad for my joints. One of the best piece of equipment has been a (cheapo) muscle hammer. Extensor muscles love some light and long massaging with it. Before selling everything, please make a trial with a hammer. Lactic acid takes a few days to leave your muscles and body. Drink lots of water, and keep your arms warm.

I play actively in a group of 13 people. There are lots of arrangements, and songs to learn. I have relatively good timing, my ear is good enough for double bass and fretless. But it has been more than eye opening, when young pro players come to a gig after two rehearsals! OK, most have been winds, but their way of working has been very professional: only important questions, no unnecessary playing (octaves back and forth or similar), good sound, and they are always in time. Some young pro bassist would be far better than I am. But band is also chemistry. I have my supportive place in this band. And I love playing with them.

Playing SMs need quite a reach. Strap is attached to approx 16th fret in model 1 and even further away in the model 2. Not the most ergonomic approach for a half position player. Surely nice for a soloist.
-
OK, the ground is connected to output jack only by relying on screws. Wouldn't be my choice. You see the not connected eyelet: there should be a wire to the closest pot for reliability.
-
Could you please take one more picture of the jack? Does it have the ground wire soldered, or is your bass relying on screws only?

Al, Ti, Be, and C among few other materials are used for speakers, because they are light. I see lots of marketing jargon available, if any material is used instead of paper. But none is superior to others. The most important thing in speaker design is the designer, and the result. Everything else is more or less marketing. To find a good speaker requires listening, and finding the unit that pleases your own ears. If you need to look popular, then the brand that pleases your eyes is the one.
