  1. I agree the skinny strings could be "Mellowed" . My Mustang PJ has that Stang-twang on the little strings that could be fattened up .
  2. I have been trying Seydel harmonicas and they have some "low" keys with lower bass notes. The Session Steel has stainless steel reeds and a good tone (not too bright).
  3. I have a CT model also. Do they have regular German Hofner pickups ? Are the pickups made by Hofner ?
  4. Bag End cabinets got good reviews .
  5. I have two Ashdown Rootmaster 15 cabinets and they are sealed. They have enough highs with tweeters. 300 watts ,less than 35 lbs. I wish they had used thicker plywood because the sides vibrate a lot . I haven't used them at a gig yet...
  6. I like the deluxe pearl . Colored pearl might do if it enhanced the body color. I would like to see a metal guard; maybe even engraved like a Zemitas gtr.
  7. I have one just like that . I also have a '97 with that case. My case was not original on the '78. Did Fender have those cases (in your picture) before 1990 ?
  8. I have an early SVT 410HE and it is only 200 watts. It is sealed and fine for low volume gigs. The newer ones are 400w , I believe. The handles are spring-loaded and the weight is about 90 lbs. I saw Swervedriver with a SVT head and one SVT 410HE.
  9. My Embassy Pro has no neck dive, compared to the Epi T-Bird Pro I have. The longer top "horn" is a little longer so it balances better. The surprise for me is that the Embassy Pro sounds like a Thunderbird .
  10. I had a 70's red Mustang with racing stripe for a while back then. I remember it had less low bass than my Mustang PJ does now. The Mustang PJ has some Jazz-like crispness on top . BUT, on Get Your Ya Yas Out (Stones live 1969) Bill sounds fine on his 'Stang.
  11. I like your bass ! It was also used by a cool alternative band "Let's Active" (North Carolina 1988 ?) It got a Yes-like tone from a pick near the bridge when played by Faye Hunter .
  12. I have a '97 and it is a separate maple fingerboard . Also mine has the graphite stiffening rods each side of the truss rod . The neck will stay straight. My case is identical . Can't you play it first ? My '97 has a white pearl pickguard added .
  13. I got a Hohner Rocket Amp harmonica for Christmas. I like it more than the Special 20. Superb tone !
  14. I have done this with gtr and it sounds like a bigger room (good). Also , add reverb or delay to the room mic to make it sound like a big room.
  15. I liked my Ashdown Superfly but the power was lacking. I kept it though. Now my Ashdown RM500 seems plenty powerful enough. I still want the new RM800 .
  16. That Baxendale eq was also used well on old Vox stuff . It is well-liked , but not hard to understand. Those fancy narrow-wide Q preamps or Alembic controls are interesting .
  17. Ashdown ABM 600 for tone and looks / Gallien Kruger 1001RBII has a little more power (700w)
  18. My Naka works fine in the computer room. The living room has the mediocre Teacs . They only start/stop well with the remotes. Also the treble from them is not real crisp. Remember when you played bass through an 18 (like my Vox Westminster ) the sound was not great ? The Teacs are mellow more than hi fi .
  19. Can anyone recommend a currently available cassette deck to replace my old Nakamichi BX-100 ? I have bought two Teac decks with fair sound . Would a Tascam cassette deck be the best ?
  20. Ashdown Superfly - the 250 w per side version. Mine gets warm though.
  21. I have a Ray but the stores don't have so many Sterlings. The metal control plate curved around the edge make the Ray recognizable , like the Jazz control plate and the Precision pickguard . I want a blue Sterling with a maple neck some day ...
  22. I got this Fender Malibu Player to maybe use in a gig . It reminds me of surfing and now I need to learn surfing as well as a single act. Surfing might be more reasonable though !
  23. yes and now they do maple fingerboards on their basses- at first it was only rosewood
  24. This topic has made me get out a few harmonicas and play with a neck brace . I can do "Out On the Weekend" by Neil Young and other easy tunes . I want a Hohner Rocket with low notes .
