  1. Did somebody amp up a Gameboy?
  2. I think they look awesome, but then again my real life initials are "MW" so I'm going to flip the top grill over for a personalised bass rig. 😁 I have ordered the 1x15 and the 2x10 which are due for delivery on the 5th January so I will give them a bit of a review after that. The good, the bad, and the (not so imho) ugly.
  3. Black Lace. They just started taking themselves too seriously after Agadoo.
  4. I honestly don't think it will need any. If there's one thing Wharfdale do well it's build speakers.
  5. Wharfdale is far from an obscure brand. Although granted they're not really known for producing guitar and bass amps. But having looked into these a bit more it would appear they they are actually Albion amps / cabs probably rebadged or built under licence by Wharfdale. The guy who actually designed them, Steve Grindrod (I think that must be his stripper name) is an absolute legend in amp building terms, having designed and build pretty much everything that came out of the Marshall factory for 20 years from 1980 then everything from the Vox relaunch including all their Valvetronic range, before going it alone with Albion. So forget the name badge, those cabs come with a surprising amount of pedigree. Here's an interesting article about Steve. He's had quite an illustrious career. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.guitarplayer.com/.amp/gear/meet-your-maker-amp-designer-steve-grindrod
  6. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the link.
  7. The only way you can really know whether something's good or not is to buy it and see. Even trying something in a music shop doesn't give you much of an idea of what it will be like in a real life scenario. Tone is subjective. Durability can only be tested over time. Build quality is probably the only real immediate deciding factor. Even then. Some cheaper stuff is really well built, some expensive stuff is not so well built. The thing most people don't seem to be taking into account is budget. If you only have a couple of hundred quid to spend then how can you go wrong? Granted you could get something second hand, but most people won't post cabs so for some of us that's not an option. Even if they do then shipping abroad is cost prohibitive. I'm willing to, and have, taken a punt. At that price I could easily sell them on over here for what I paid for them including delivery. I'll be happy to report back once I've given them a good going over.
  8. This is on my to buy list for noodling around in the house. But I want the black version. My wife has the black Applause Uke that this is based on so we'll be sad and have his and hers matching instruments. 😋
  9. According to the comments on the video the IT lads are on the case and supposed to be updating the site with more details shortly.
  10. Thanks. That's precisely my point. I'm not a professional musician (far from it) and I don't have unlimited funds for gear. I currently play a Squier Jag and a Gretsch Junior Jet. The most expensive of which was just over 200 quid. To me they sound great, and spending hundreds, or even thousands on gear wouldn't really do me any good at the level I play. OK maybe the overall sound would be better, but it would be negligible to me, and probably unnoticeable to anyone listening. Certainly not bang for your buck when you're just in a weekend warrior garage band. I've been playing though a Behringer head and 2x10 cab up to now so these will do me just fine. 😋
  11. And of course, cheap will also mean poor quality to all the gear snobs. 😏 I can't speak specifically for bass or guitar speakers obviously, and I know hifi speakers are a different kettle of fish, but every Whardale speaker I've ever owned has been fantastic.
  12. Wow! That's just nuts!!! Thanks for the heads up. I really struggle to get decent priced gear out here in Bulgaria because there's almost no second hand market and new stuff is silly money. I've just ordered a 1x15 and 2x10. Including delivery to Bulgaria for under £240. That's just insane! I couldn't buy the lowest of low price budget gear for that much, let alone a brand name half stack. An absolute no brainer at that price.
  13. Oh and it's model number EGB - 805 should you need any spares. 😋
  14. The main body of the text says "Electrogitara Tonika" or Tonika (Tonic) electric guitar. The really interesting bit is under the serial number where it gives the price. A whopping 145 Rubles, at the current exchange rate that's about £1.66. 😂
  15. Wow cool! Thanks! I didn't realize there was an actual prize. I was just happy to finally be able to join in with something I understood. Most of the stuff on here goes straight over my head. 😂
  16. Why what?
  17. Udachi. It translates from Russian as something like good luck. However here in Bulgaria it would mean something closer to "hit it", which may be more appropriate.
  18. I love a bit of 80's Bush.
  19. All Fenders are ugly. This one I actually prefer to many I've seen. Edit: Jesus H Mary mother of Christmas!!! I've just noticed the price. Now it's ugly!
  20. Never seen one. I'm assuming they must just be on the desktop version of the site? I only ever use mobile.
  21. The logo is nothing to do with the bass. It's from the packing crate it was made from. 😂
  22. I suppose there's logic in that but it's making an issue of a problem that doesn't really exist, at least no more so than any electrical problem can occur at any time with any equipment. Most stand alone stomp boxes have an external PSU with the same cable hookup. I could just as easily say I wouldn't have a pedal with a built in PSU because if the supply fails then the whole thing his to be repaired rather than just buying another cheap PSU. I get what you're saying, but in reality it's not really a problem. For the record though, the M13 does have a cable retainer. I've had mine for over 5 years with no issues whatsoever. Unlike many cheap plastic feeling multi FX units these things are built like tanks. I did recently build myself a homebrew pedal board just to keep things tidy, but prior to that I've always used it straight on the floor.
