  1. Sorry to resurrect a zombie. But it's a couple of years on and I'm wondering if anyone now has any first hand experience with Bugera cabs. Yes, I know they're cheap. Yeah I know they're Behringer in a fancy frock. (Not that that's a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. I've had some great Behringer stuff and currently use a Behringer head that sounds fantastic) I don't know why, but the Bugera stuff just floats my boat. I just think it looks great. There are some good reviews around for the heads, especially the Veyron (which I also really fancy) but there seems to be hardly any info around for the cabs. I'm on a tight budget and second hand gear is none existent where I live, so I'd be looking at new, probably from Thomann. I know logically I might be better off going with the Ashdown, or even Kustom gear, but ooh those Bugera cabs are nice!
  2. Ooh I got all excited then. I've never heard of Bax. Another shop chock full of goodies. Looks like reasonable prices too. Sadly it looks like they only deliver within the UK. Back to Thomann it is then.

  4. If you are, there's at least two of us there. I don't get it. Ok it's a truly amazing song. Ok she co wrote it with John. Ok it was John's birthday yesterday. All things I respect and admire. But still, it's quite possibly the worst version, of not just Imagine, but possibly of any song I've ever heard.
  5. Ah I see. Yeah it appears autocorrect strikes again. That bloody thing is the bane of my lime!
  6. I like it. But I don't play them there naked neck jobbies, and I think the decimal point is in the wrong place.
  7. You're worrying too much. Just stop fretting! (I'm sorry. I'll get my coat)
  8. In a strange way I kind of like it, and if it sounds crap you could always use it to paddle a canoe.
  9. I'd just punch him in the mouth and see how well he sings after that. Although to be fair I'm not in a "professionl" band. (No idea why)
  10. I'm surprised by this thread with people saying that (other people think) Laney isn't a good brand. Admittedly I've been out of the game for a good few years, but when I started playing 30 years ago Laney were considered (in my area at least) to be one of the best bass rigs you could buy. I had a 30w Laney combo as my first amp and the thing was superb. Easily loud enough to hold its own against our guitarists 100w amp and a drummer, and that was playing loud heavy metal. When I got back into playing a few months back the first thing I looked at was Laney and bought myself an old 1x15 combo, which is again easily loud enough to keep up with (now 2) guitars and drums. I would absolutely love to own this rig!
  11. Simple answer, wherever it feels the most comfortable. There is no right or wrong. I tend to alternate depending on what bass I'm playing and even song to song.
  12. Yup. You're not the only one. My mouth has been watering at this add for days now. Unfortunately as I live in Bulgaria, and currently financially embarrassed due to renovating property it's also sadly a no go for me on both accounts. I can't believe someone hasn't snapped this up yet.
  13. I don't know any keyboard players, but that's a great set. So consider this a bump.
  14. I don't have any to take with me, nor do I have any kids. For some people being skint is just how life is. I'd love to go out and and blow a few hundred quid on bass gear. But I currently have a van in the garage, a dog in the vets, and a stomach ulcer from stress. I still want an 8x10 fridge though. 😂 No harm in dreaming.
  15. A friend of mine who was (rather is) a fantastic self taught guitarist went for lessons some years ago and the teacher spent the whole time pulling apart his technique and telling him he was playing wrong. Needless to say he never went back, and to this day is still one of the most naturally gifted players I've ever met. Find your own truth. Also I may be a bit of an oddity, in that I would rather have online lessons than one to one any day. If there's something you don't quite understand, or is very often the case with me, goes in one ear and out the other due to an extremely bad memory, you can simply rewind or start the lesson again. I had about half a dozen face to face lessons many years ago and I just found it an extremely uncomfortable experience.
  16. Yup. That sounds exactly like my Laney 1x15 Combo did. Upon further investigation it was the voice coil rubbing. I couldn't see any way of getting to it without destroying the whole speaker. Quick search on eBay and I found a replacement speaker. Brand new (old stock) direct from Ashdowns own eBay store. 15" Blue Line for the princely sum of £19. I don't think I've ever hit the buy it now button so quickly. I've since also replaced the amp and use the 1x15 as cab and it sounds fantastic with the new speaker.
  17. Good luck. The last time I was surrounded by screaming schoolgirls I got put on a register.
  18. Well as usual I'm skint so I haven't bought anything for ages. Although that's probably for the best as I've recently had a hankering for a full on 8x10 fridge. No use for one whatsoever. I just want one!
  19. Sounds like the theme tune to bad foreign version of Shaft.
